I've been reading up on Luke Kuechly and it seems like there's a better than good chance he's the second coming of Brian Urlacher. If they got Mario Williams and... ...then picked ILB Luke Kuechly at #10 ...then picked OLB Ronnell Lewis at #41 Geez, the Bills' defense would look better than good! I think Luke Kuechly would be a true leader of the defense and the team. This team lacks leadership. I know that many here are looking at DE, OT or WR at #10, but I'm not wowed by any of the players that are being discussed.

Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
1billsfan replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone else think that Mario Williams is going to be overpaid to whoever signs him? I went back and looked at his two best seasons (over 10 sacks) and those were way back in '07 and '08. Is Williams worth 14 million a year? I'm not so sure about that. -
I think that Tebow either goes to the Jags for obvious reasons or the Patriots where Josh McDaniels will coax him into playing H-back while giving him the carrot that he'd learn how to play QB under Brady. My money is on the Jags though.

Rams, Redskins make a deal for the #2 pick
1billsfan replied to cantankerous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yikes, just look at the QB talent in the NFC...Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton, RGIII One thing that's good for the Bills is that the road to the Superbowl is much easier than in the NFC. I think that the Redskins just made themselves relevant in this league again and they won't regret this deal for one second. -
IMO, when it doesn't look like there's a "sure thing" pick at the #10 spot (which there doesn't), you stop fooling around and just go ahead and use that pick (along with a few others) and go and get your "sure thing" franchise QB.

Obama Calls Sandra Fluke to Console Her
1billsfan replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Correction, a 30 year old women who injected herself into a political issue via her testimony at a congressional hearing. Calling a women such names is wrong no matter who it is. However, if you want to qualify it only to political types then she was fair game according to the liberal's rules of misogyny. So it's a-ok for liberals if Rush called Hillary a c*** or t***? Yeah right. -
No one hates Fitzpatrick. It's the reality of would he be good enough in a QB driven league to first beat out Brady, Manning (were he to join the Dolphins) to win the division. Then, would he be able to beat Rodgers, Brees or the other Manning in the Superbowl were they to get there with him. I don't care about just making the playoffs. I want the Bills to win a Superbowl. Multiple Superbowls. I know it sucks to give up the draft picks, but I truly feel like this is the Bills last opportunity for the next four or five years get themselves a star franchise QB who has the extraordinary talents to be able to beat all those QBs mentioned above. If they don't do it, then I hope that Fitzpatrick is a very late blooming Drew Brees. I actually think it's possible (given the first part of last season), but it looks like a long shot. They need him to be another Brees if they want to win a Superbowl.

Hypocrisy at it's most ugly... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikW7ljSm3Fs&feature=player_embedded It was sad that no one asked the president why he accepted Bill Maher's million dollar donation at the press conference after Obama's almost tearful reflection about the effect such language could have on his daughter's lives. Just don't grow up to be conservative women. According to him, these liberal congresswomen and the MSM, you would obviously deserve it. -
If a man hangs out with Nazis.....
1billsfan replied to RkFast's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The original topic suggests that Obama's sudden rise to the top was facilitated by radicals. His history is so murky that I would not be at all shocked if he weren't a legal citizen. That being said, you should have no worries...Romney won't be baited into this issue. -

It's funny that you mention the birth certificate issue. It's hit the political radar again due to Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio's investigation into the matter. I don't consider myself a "birther". IMO, birthers believe that he's not a legal citizen. I simply say that I have no idea one way or the other. They can make fun it all they want, but I'm glad that someone is at least on the case. Even if it is the political lightening rod known as Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Just look at how John Edwards affair was covered up and eventually exposed by the National Enquirer of all places. I find it hard to trust anything involved in the highest places in the government be they a D or R. Should be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of it. -
Buddy Nix said... “You’ve got to give up the farm. We’re not in that business.” A 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th in a two year span to get RGIII is certainly not "giving up the farm". Was it said the Giants gave up the farm for Eli? Never heard that, ever. This deal is very similar. How did that move work out for the Giants? TWO Superbowl wins. The odds of Fitzpatrick ever winning a Superbowl for us are beyond long. The odds of the Bills winning a Superbowl after getting RGIII? I'd say the Bills would have a 80% chance to win it within the next 5 years.

The age of the shutdown cornerback is over
1billsfan replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The age of DEFENSE is over. Except for the few rare exceptions, NFL defenses were rolled in 2011. It's the very reason why I think the Bills would be Superbowl contenders THIS season if they traded up to get RGIII. Take a peek at the RGIII thread, the asking price may be reasonable since the Browns and Redskins are starting to play hardball with the Rams. -
This is news people! Sad that these "pinned" threads tend to die out, but if true this is great news. If the Browns and Skins are playing hardball that leaves the door open for the Bills to trade up. Something like... 2012 - 1st, 2nd, 4th 2013 - 1st, 5th (for good measure) So the price is coming into focus. The Bills would be giving up a 1st, 2nd and 2 mid round picks for the opportunity to draft RGIII. Am I crazy or is this not what the Bills should do?????

Your official Draft Board
1billsfan replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks, it's fun to do these lists. I'm sure mine will change towards the back end. I think the Bills first pick will end up being RGIII (trade up), Ingram, Martin or Floyd. To me, those are the clear front runners. -

Now Greg Williams is a cheater?
1billsfan replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gregg's crap throwing fan has hit our team now... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/04/report-bills-had-bounty-system-under-gregg-williams/ -
I think that Melvin Ingram is a slam dunk for our team at #10 if he's there. I think our first pick is RGIII (trade up of course), Ingram or Floyd in that order. As for #41 (if we still have it), I could see them go OL, TE, DE, OLB. That will be another BPA pick.
-
Hey, I thought it was a pretty good metaphor! Upshaw is the very definition of a tweener. I think he drops like a rock and goes in the second round. Hightower will get picked before him. There's no way I can see the Bills taking Upshaw at #10.
-
Why would you say that when he completely bombed out at his combine? Melvin Ingram wowed everyone with his athleticism and Upshaw looked stiffer than Mitt Romney at a Jay Z concert. He's a power only guy with clear physical limitations whether he's playing as a OLB or DE. So his body size sucks for which ever position you put him at, and he doesn't have the ability to move very well. How is that fine for our pick at #10? I get that he looks good on tape, but that's at the college level. I think all signs point to Upshaw being a disappointing first round pick for whichever team takes him that high.
-
Upshaw showed serious stiff hips in the on-field drills. You need to have the athletic ability to change direction as a defender and he looks like a straight ahead, bull rush, limited downs type of player. He might drop into the second round if he doesn't show better at his pro day.
-
If the Bills don't move up to get RGIII, I think it's about 99% that Melvin Ingram is the Bills pick if he's still there at #10. I know that Nix is talking up a lot of positions but that's what his job is right now, to throw people off the scent. Melvin Ingram is a very solid, non-reach pick in their highest position of need. He's also versatile for a "hybrid" defense. Ingram's so solid that I'd have a hard time agreeing that someone else would be BPA over him not named Luck, RGIII, Kalil or Blackman.
-
Why not? I think the Bills should get RGIII even if it cost them their next three first round picks. What good are these draft picks when the QB engine simply isn't good enough to win the race? I like Fitzpatrick, but it's such a long shot to see him win the Bills a Superbowl. RGIII gets them almost immediately in the conversation for the Superbowl THIS season because the AFC sucks so badly now. Fans here are much too protective of draft picks. The Bills' opportunity for their next great "Superbowl" era is staring them right in the face and they should be bold, go big and do what it takes to get RGIII. I hope Buddy is bluffing and they really are in play for him.

Energy Secretary Wants High Gas Prices
1billsfan replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I actually think the federal government should get into the oil production business...along with natural gas, nuclear, solar, wind, water. Once the people of this country no longer have the financial means to keep our consumer-based economy afloat, we will cease being America. The federal government has the ability to establish and keep in place, an abundance of affordable energy. It'd create real jobs, it'd create real revenue. I normally don't like growing government in any way, but this is one avenue that should be explored seeing how our oil is being already exported to China by companies who don't care what America's price per gallon is.
