Energy Secretary Wants High Gas Prices
1billsfan replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The liberals want to take away our freedom. To stop people from smoking, the government jacked up cigarette prices by using taxes. This is beyond creepy and the scary part is that they don't even try to hide their intentions to take away one of the middle class' greatest freedoms. The affordable ability to travel that a car provides them. His energy secretary flat out stated that he wanting to price people out of the use of their cars. The liberals won't be happy until people are literally forced to use either mass transit or their bikes. The ironic thing is that the people who've shackled us to our homes with high gas prices will all be using jets to get to their lavish Aspen and European excursions. There's nothing less American than using power to steer gas prices towards $8 to $10 in an attempt to force people out of their cars. -
We're at a point where the situation is fluid and ever changing. I get the feeling that leading up to the draft, teams change their minds a whole lot. Not only do they change their minds, but they provide a lot of disinformation along the way. It serves no purpose for Nix to state any interest (if he has any) in RGIII right now. He can conveniently just shrug any of this talk off by using the "too big a price" argument. I think what he's doing is tamping down the rumor mill and hoping that at some point in the process after...P. Manning gets signed somewhere, and possibly Flynn, and teams start looking at the Tannehill option, and the Browns look at keeping their picks and instead think 2013 is their year to draft their QB...the Bills just might be in the "sweet spot" price range for RGIII.
-
The problem with Fitz is that he'll no doubt be good enough to keep the Bills out of franchise QB range for the next 5 years, AND he won't be good enough to beat Rodgers, Brees or Manning even if they ever did get to the big dance with him. It'a a perplexing problem. The Bills either drop a bombshell trade to get RG III or they try to build a nasty as all defense to counteract the team's who have a franchise QB.
-
Especially given that RG III and Chan Gailey are tailor made for each other. This is very intriguing news. If the Bills see him as the "game changer" needed to propel this franchise to the top then they will probably make a serious play for him.
-
Why? Because it could be reasoned that RG III would almost immediately make the Bills Superbowl contenders. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are getting way up there in years. Rothlesburger is always hurt. Flacco sucks. The Colts are decimated so it will be a long time before Luck can be dominate. San Diego is past it's prime so Rivers is of no threat. First, I think the Browns are out because Holmgren won't be able to stomach giving away so many picks to move up just two spots. This leaves the Redskins, Dolphins and Bills. What if the Dolphins sign P. Manning and Reggie Wayne which is very possible? That leaves the Redskins and Bills. If the Bills and Redskins offers are virtually the same, would the Rams want RG III in their own conference which already has Rodgers, Brees and E. Manning? I am happy that the Bills are entertaining the possibility of getting RG III. The crazy part is coming up with the final cost in draft picks. I have a feeling he'd be worth the price though.
-
If the Bills did make the trade up for RG III, it will take a ton picks. However, I don't necessarily agree that it would be an insane move. They'd be telling everyone that RG III is so good that he'll immediately get this team into Superbowl contention. How's that insane if that's how they feel? The NFL favors QBs and the defenses are left defenseless. The Bills will basically be saying that we're going to beat you by outscoring you for the next 10 years. I don't think the Bills are that ballsy to make this "all in" move, but if they did I'll be down with it since I do think he'd almost immediately make the Bills Superbowl contenders. Let's face it, the AFC conference sucks and will continue to do so for the next few years. I won't be mad if they don't make the trade, but I would see it as a major statement for their desire to win the Superbowl in the very near future.

Didn't say I was gone. I said that I wouldn't care as much and I won't. I'll always be a fan, but when you tell me you're nothing but a farm team then it's time to put the dream of winning the Superbowl away for good and devote time to something more positive.

By far, Ralphie Wilson's favorite TSW poster. Chris Kelsay makes 5.6 million dollars a year and has done literally nothing for this franchise since he's come here. Yet someone like Stevie Johnson who literally has been this team's most valuable player gets paid slightly more in your world? If the Bills cheap out on Stevie and try to sell the ridiculously false crap that you're selling then they'll lose a LOT of fans and ticket buyers. If they let Johnson go then I'm not going to care about the Bills nearly as much as I do now or in my lifetime. It will be the official sign that the Bills are a farm team to the real NFL.

Leo Marks tried to warn you about Mitt Romney

Americans clearly don't care if a presidential hopeful has multiple places and/or countries of origin. -
I think the Bills would have a good chance of being Superbowl bound within the next three to five years with RG III. This league is quickly becoming Arena Football. The AFC conference has become the weak conference and looks very beatable in the near future. I think having RG III as our QB would be a game changing event in this conference. I really like Fitzpatrick, but look who he'd go against even if he did get us to the Superbowl. 90% chance it would be Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Drew Brees or Cam Newton. I want to win it if they ever did get there again. It probably won't happen, but if it ever did happen...WOW!
-
I think that Stevie Johnson ranks around the 10th -12th best WR in the league. Ranking WRs off of stats isn't the best indicator. You have to consider who was throwing them the ball, injuries to key offensive personnel, things of that nature. Considering this is Buffalo and NYS taxes being what they are, the Bills will have to pony up a few extra million. I would hope they'd offer him somewhere in the 8.5 million per year range. To those who think he's not worth it, consider that Moulds got a huge payday and his worth was pretty much the same as Johnson's worth is today for this team.

How insane would it be here if the Bills traded up to get RGIII? I still think that the possibility is out there. If it does happen it will come out of left field on draft day right after Luck is taken at #1.

Santorum Satan (not Miroslav) remarks
1billsfan replied to John Adams's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In movies, you have your stars and then you have your bit players. Santorum is a bit player who thinks he's a star, but he just doesn't have that kind of DNA. I just don't see him as "President" material and his rise to prominence shows just how weak the GOP field is. As for the remarks, and since he's a GOPer, I think he'd be toast in a general election. American's don't like big government telling them what to do whether it's in the health care clinic or in the bedroom. -
A day ago these people didn't even exist in your world!! Just wait and see what the soaring gas prices will do to the unemployment number. Don't look now but the planets are starting to align for a Sarah Palin presidency...LOL

Maybe Stevie is better than we thought
1billsfan replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the feeling that the Bills are playing the "drag the Stevie negotiations along" game for two reasons... First...it gives the fans and media a reason to talk about the Bills till the combine. Second...when they do eventually sign or tag him, it'll give fans a sense of relief that they'll have Stevie in 2012 and that there'll be one less hole to fill. -
Tannehill = project = wouldn't touch him till the 4th round Bills either trade up for the franchise RG III or wait till the middle rounds to take a flyer on a guy who has the potential to develop into a franchise guy without blowing a 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick.

Whitney Houston's life and America
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Because "wars" and "torture" doesn't make sense in my Whitney Houston/America "tortured" metaphor. Also, Bush doesn't make sense as "Bobby Brown" either. Wars aren't like crack in any way shape or form. Bush was trying to keep us safe even if the war in Iraq was a bungled mess from the get go. Socialism is like "crack" because the more people you give "free stuff" to, the less they feel like to contributing by getting a real job. The tide is turning and once it does America will be toast. In California, Obama is polling over Romney by 20 points. Do you know WHY he's polling so ridiculously high over Romney? Once America becomes the bigger version of the state of California, this country will be officially cease to exist. At least the one I love. -
12 Scary Debt Facts for 2012
1billsfan replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
"Under President Obama: The debt started at $9.986 trillion and escalated to $15.3 trillion, a 53 percent increase over three years." "A trillion $10 bills, if they were taped end to end, would wrap around the globe more than 380 times. That amount of money would still not be enough to pay off the U.S. national debt." These are the two that stood out for me. The eventual GOP winner needs to hammer hard on the national debt issue and let them know that if they vote for Obama, they'll be stealing their children's and grand children's future of the same America that they grew up loving so much. They've got to create ads that will literally shame any thought of voting for Obama out of the "on the fence" independents. -
If Stevie Johnson is not retained by the Buffalo Bills
1billsfan replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will confirm that that the Buffalo Bills are nothing more than a Double A farm team for the rest of the NFL. Also, it will ensure them of having one of one of the worst offenses in the NFL to go along with them having one of the worst defenses. Someone go tell Freddie and CJ to enjoy the eight man fronts. -
I say follow the Giants' blueprint. First rule is you don't pick players who don't have the proper NFL size to fit the position you're drafting for. You DON'T draft Upshaw thinking he'll follow the LONE exception to the rule as in the case of Dwight Freeney. I could see the Bills either picking a guy like Michael Floyd, the perfect tall-sized receiver to put opposite Stevie Johnson, or if they do go DE, they'll pick Whitney Mercilus who has the perfect size to play 4-3 DE. I don't see them going OLB, OL or CB in the first.
