I mean this is the definition of being a homer. I think Allen has done some good things but Watson might be a top 5 qb right now. He has to carry that team to wins. Watson and our defense would be a SB contender.

I love hearing from other fans and good nature trash talk is fun. But sometimes being humble isn’t a bad thing. It should be a great game. I know everyone hates EJ, but that was one of the greatest plays by a defensive players I have ever seen. Like only a few guys can make that play. fun fact. I got annoyed with the Duke talk because clearly there was something he wasn’t showing the coaches. But I’d rather take my chances with a big receiver who plays hard like him then Foster and other guys. Free Duke!

Yeah. They had coach who took them to the super bowl a couple years ago and had every reason to quit this year and finished 6-2. I completely understand this move. If they fix the defense and add a Rb, they can be a contender next year.

It’s funny people are surprised by this. Barkley, minus that game against a crappy Jets team, has been terrible every time he has to play. He is a fringe nfl qb. Seems like a really good dude but you can do much better. I hope they are not content with this.

Best offense since the Bledsoe days. Chan did more with less than any OC we have had besides Roman. I would take him back in a second over Daboll. A Chan-Fitz combo surrounding Allen would have Been amazing. I thought it was really stupid for them to sign Fitz if they were trying to tank because Fitz would win some games. But with Tua getting hurt, things could be working out really well for them. Let him red shirt for a year. Load up on draft picks and it looks like they have a good young coach. Maybe the Bills-Miami rivalry might actually mean something again.

You do realize we scored 27 points only 3 times this year, right? And two of them were against Miami. if I was gambling on this game, this is the ultimate stay away. I’m pretty confident in the bills playing hard and making this a close game. I just have no idea what to expect with the Texans. They are a super confusing team. They can beat NE and KC on the road yet get blown out by Denver. They make no sense. We have some good matchups but they have more legit blue chip players. I have absolutely no idea what to expect except I will probably drink a lot. Ah, I don’t really agree with that. Just watt being on the field demands attention on passing downs. I do think you run at him to test him early in the game.

You can’t be scared. The pats would play 80 year old Brady in a meaningless week 17 game. Allen and the offense could use the work. It’s kinda amazing how healthy they have been (knocking on wood). Can’t fault anyone if something fluky happens.

Well said and love the Rorschach test reference (watch Watchmen if you aren’t). I had such a roller coaster ride watching that game. When he had like 19 yards almost to halftime, it was confirming my doubts. Then he makes some amazing plays where I’m like maybe he is the guy! But then he has those missed plays. it’s stupid to say definitively what he will be right now. I worry he might be that guy who consistently taunts us with top 5 potential but struggles to be consistent enough. But plenty of time for growth and we’re winning games.

Who cares what a mock says? He is a reach because Mel Kiper says so? One of the best offensive coaches of his generation had a qb who takes them to the playoffs every year and traded up for him to let him develop for a year rather than take a player that could help him. That means a million more than what Mel Kiper or McShay thinks. it’s amazing how much people value their rankings and mocks. They are purely entertainment.

1) Cromartie is not the example of strong source. Dude couldn’t figure out a condom 2) Gilmore has been amazing and been very good for most of his career. Still some salty Bills fans who can’t admit they were wrong about him. 3) Tre has been awesome and might be the best young cb in the NFL. He just made the pro bowl. I’m so sick of the victim mentality some fans have. Smart football people know how good Tre is. 4) stats is a really dumb way to compare cbs. The better of a corner you are, the less you get attacked. the what ifs of Gilmore are Re-signing are amazing. If we keep him, maybe they draft Mahomes or Watson. Or they keep him and still draft White and have the best cb tandem in the nfl. either way, it worked out for everyone. For as many problems as this franchise has had, we are amazing at drafting cbs and rbs. The rules against defensive backs are such a joke. It is physical the hardest position in sports. Cover a 4.4 guy who knows where he is going without breathing on him on an island. The good corners today are such special talents.

With all due respect, how did you prove the team with the 3rd ranked defense isn’t carrying the 22nd ranked offense (all teams ranked lower than us are non playoff teams)?

Haha, I only own a Andre Reed Jersey. Feel weird buying jerseys of guys younger than me (sadly, that’s like every player now) plus the Bills just get rid of them after a couple years anyways. and EJ probably wasn’t good enough but their development plan was awful with him. I worried that we were going down the same route last year with Allen but they have done a solid job this year.

Honestly, bro and it’s know it’s post. But I feel great and probably the most in on Allen since he’s been drafted. Don’t what nerve you think you touched but it’s all good. I think this is a smart situation. But let’s not pretend like Allen doesn’t benefit hugely from this defense. This team can score 7 points for 3 quarters and still have a chance to win. Not many qbs have that luxury. And to Allen’s credit, he’s made plays at the end of games. Mitchell T scored 27 tds in 14 games last year. Good post. I admit that guys like Allen scare me as qb prospects. Guys with Allen’s production in a lower level conference rarely become franchise guys. bur he certainly is doing his part and showing growth. I would like to see a game against a good team where I can say without doubt Allen is the reason we won it. He was very close against NE and as much as it sucked, I actually felt the best about him. I still had the droughts we go on offense sometimes and think that is part of Allen’s inconsistency at this point. But id be lying if I said there were a bunch of good things too.

Yeah, Marrone gave a raw qb the framing Syracuse OC as both his rookie year OC and Qb coach. I’m not a huge Daboll fan but he at least coached in the NFL and was around Brady. Marrone is a fraud. and there is no way to respond this thread without being called a hater. But there are some major homer takes here. But we’re winning so it’s fun to see how this plays out.

Good post. And I’m not freaking out about the 300 yard games. I just don’t get why people pretend it’s a bad thing. There is a world where Allen posts monster numbers and we have like 1 loss. There’s also a world where we let Allen throw the ball like crazy, and he becomes a turnover machine. I have zero worries about that this year. The formula is working. I’m not 100% convinced he could carry this team like Wilson does after young guys start getting paid at this point. But that’s a long away.

I know you’re smart that making this a trick question because the defense has scored no tds. But: Jets game. 16-0, could have been a blow out in the first half with the turnovers and short fields. Offense doesn’t score until Moslesy leaves. Defense is the only reason the game was winnable. Titans. pit. its a team game I know. This defense gives Allen more chances to win games that most teams. Other teams with bad defenses, see the Falcons, put their offense in immediate holes. Allen rarely has to deal with that. And it’s not even a knock. It’s a good strategy for a young qb. And as I always go back to, either Allen is Bortles or Mitchell or he’s Brady or Wilson. But without a doubt, the defense is the MVP of this team. Allen with a bad defense would be struggling big time. I don’t disagree. But that great offensive coach targeted Mahomes and traded up for him. He took a team to levels even a solid qb like Smith couldn’t imagine. He’s just an elite player. At this point, Allen is a solid game manager with big play ability. You could do a lot worse that that. Now the next step (and we may not see it this year because of the game plan) is if Allen can carry the team when the defense struggles. He almost got it done of Saturday and definitely made some big boy throws.
