Allen slammed on ESPN
C.Biscuit97 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, bro and it’s know it’s post. But I feel great and probably the most in on Allen since he’s been drafted. Don’t what nerve you think you touched but it’s all good. I think this is a smart situation. But let’s not pretend like Allen doesn’t benefit hugely from this defense. This team can score 7 points for 3 quarters and still have a chance to win. Not many qbs have that luxury. And to Allen’s credit, he’s made plays at the end of games. Mitchell T scored 27 tds in 14 games last year. Good post. I admit that guys like Allen scare me as qb prospects. Guys with Allen’s production in a lower level conference rarely become franchise guys. bur he certainly is doing his part and showing growth. I would like to see a game against a good team where I can say without doubt Allen is the reason we won it. He was very close against NE and as much as it sucked, I actually felt the best about him. I still had the droughts we go on offense sometimes and think that is part of Allen’s inconsistency at this point. But id be lying if I said there were a bunch of good things too. -
If you could swap QBs with any team right now
C.Biscuit97 replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Marrone gave a raw qb the framing Syracuse OC as both his rookie year OC and Qb coach. I’m not a huge Daboll fan but he at least coached in the NFL and was around Brady. Marrone is a fraud. and there is no way to respond this thread without being called a hater. But there are some major homer takes here. But we’re winning so it’s fun to see how this plays out. -
Good post. And I’m not freaking out about the 300 yard games. I just don’t get why people pretend it’s a bad thing. There is a world where Allen posts monster numbers and we have like 1 loss. There’s also a world where we let Allen throw the ball like crazy, and he becomes a turnover machine. I have zero worries about that this year. The formula is working. I’m not 100% convinced he could carry this team like Wilson does after young guys start getting paid at this point. But that’s a long away.

Allen slammed on ESPN

I know you’re smart that making this a trick question because the defense has scored no tds. But: Jets game. 16-0, could have been a blow out in the first half with the turnovers and short fields. Offense doesn’t score until Moslesy leaves. Defense is the only reason the game was winnable. Titans. pit. its a team game I know. This defense gives Allen more chances to win games that most teams. Other teams with bad defenses, see the Falcons, put their offense in immediate holes. Allen rarely has to deal with that. And it’s not even a knock. It’s a good strategy for a young qb. And as I always go back to, either Allen is Bortles or Mitchell or he’s Brady or Wilson. But without a doubt, the defense is the MVP of this team. Allen with a bad defense would be struggling big time. I don’t disagree. But that great offensive coach targeted Mahomes and traded up for him. He took a team to levels even a solid qb like Smith couldn’t imagine. He’s just an elite player. At this point, Allen is a solid game manager with big play ability. You could do a lot worse that that. Now the next step (and we may not see it this year because of the game plan) is if Allen can carry the team when the defense struggles. He almost got it done of Saturday and definitely made some big boy throws. -

Pat Mahomes almost 5,000 yards last year and nearly carried the 2nd worst defense in the nfl to the SB. Passing yards is not a bad thing. Why do Bills fans have such an outdated way of thinking? -

As someone who used to have the same logic, are the only people who can call out athletes just former athletes? we have a different perspective on Allen because we’re Bills fans. But there’s no way if you’re not a Bills fan, you are as sold on him. And the best thing is Allen has all the power to prove them wrong. -
I don’t get why people work so hard to try to make passing a bad thing. We won’t be a better team with Matt Ryan? Last year, 5 of the top 8 in passing yards had winning records. it’s like some of you work so hard to cover for Allen. I definitely have seen some positive steps this year. I think he made some big boy throws against the Pats. I also say a guy who had a very slow start that put us in a hole. He’s moving in a good direction but you don’t post this if he is putting up Mahomes numbers.

The best part of this are the fans most upset are the ones who call everyone ❄️. Who cares? Allen is still pretty raw and while I definitely have seen some very positive signs, this is still a team that wins with its defense. What do you think they were saying about Mitchell last year and Bortles before? The key for Allen is to prove he is more than along for the ride and without a doubt will get to show that in the playoffs and next year at worse. -
Edelman admits faking head injury in Bills game
C.Biscuit97 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is easily one of the most hateable guys in the nfl. The epitome of little man syndrome and a proven cheater. We would love him if he was a Bill though. but given the climate of football, this should be taken very seriously. Head injuries aren’t to be joked about. Completely disagree. It’s why I can never get into soccer fully and it’s creep into basketball. Football players are supposed to be warriors. I don’t want the BS in football especially faking something as serious as a head injury. -
Rumor Roethlisberger done with Fotball
C.Biscuit97 replied to Franchiseneedsme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean in hindsight (said it at the time), probably should have just stayed put and drafted JuJu instead of trading up for Zay. ? and id love him but why would the Steelers trade a young, good, cheap receiver if they are trying to bring along a young qb? -

Yeah, he looked like a total slob on the sidelines. Not that he was ever in great shape. Crap human, great player who took a lot of punishment. Don’t blame him at all for retiring. They would have been scary if he could have finished the year instead of Duck Mason. -
Really astounding how far we've come in 13 months
C.Biscuit97 replied to TheBrownBear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the point you’re making but why do we always have to trash someone to build someone up? The 2014 team would have easily been a playoff team with this schedule. We ended Peyton’s record setting streak and beat Rodgers without scoring a td. I mean those guys aren’t on duck’s level but still. mcBeane has done a good job. We have a very good defense and an offense that doesn’t beat ourselves. Right now, it’s beautiful. But as with happened with Whaley, good young players are going to need to get paid soon. The cap will look much different in 2 years. Also, with some of those cap issues and if Allen becomes a franchise guy, this will become a completely different team. why not enjoy this ride and just focus on them? -
Not saying you are comparing them here, but Allen has missed more games than Jackson. Jackson hasn’t missed a game yet but I do understand the running makes it riskier. for both Allen and Jackson to be long term answers, they both need to less reliant on running. Russell Wilson has done a great job of that.

I want the Ravens again in the playoffs...
C.Biscuit97 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Mahomes only put up 31 points and only had a 117 qb rating in The title game in his first year as a starter. What a loser! They could. Every team can with a bad game. They also have far away the most impressive collection of wins of any team in the NFL. -
Jerry Hughes performance of late
C.Biscuit97 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He’s been completely overrated for years. His bark is way bigger than his bite at this point. Shaq is far away the better player at this point. once we upgrade the Hughes (I’m fine keeping him as depth) and Murphy spots, this will be an elite defense. -
[Misleading Title] McDermott named Coach of the Year
C.Biscuit97 replied to BritBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He definitely has a really good chance. There are a bunch of good candidates though - Tomlin, Shanahan, Flores will get a couple votes, Harbaugh. If I had to guess I think Harbaugh gets it. But McDermott did a great job. Huh? They are playing their 4th string qb, lost top 3 rb and wrs, had their replacements miss a bunch of time. You are completely biased if you don’t think he is in the running. -
Haha, it’s all good. But that’s the problem with comparing stats from different years. That is 17 years ago. It was a much different league. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2002/passing.htm There was one one qb with a 100 rating. This year, there are 10 and 2 at 99. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/passing.htm#passing::pass_rating just a completely different era. I remember I used to defend JP Losman by comparing his stats to early Farve and Kelly. You need to compare them to their contemporaries.

Yup and we added 2 good priced FA wrs, had a young 2nd rounder who sucked, Gore, Kroft, a whole new oline, and Singletary/ Knox. Both teams have tried to help their young qbs as they should. Can’t you say the same for Allen? They are very similar qbs at this point. I love tight ends (?) and always want to draft one high. But you’re right. Rarely do 1st round ones live up to the hype.

I liked Andrews too but no one thought he would be this good Or else he doesn’t go in the 3rd (hell the Ravens took another TE before him!). Jackson and him had an immediate connection as rookie. I is almost like saying If Knox was producing like Andrews, Allen inherited an elite TE. Jackson’s biggest strength as a passer is throwing over the middle. Andrews is a good player and Jackson feeds him.
