  1. Hey Rico, a fill in the blanks game where "you" can't fill in any of them? That's NO fun!
  2. NFL Films has Bill Parcells calling out a player on the sidelines back in the NY Giants days! Basically told him if he did "that" again, he'd be on the next bus outta town! I know this will be hard to do, but if the Bills had an a$$ kicking line, like the one residing in Kansas City, how much better would Losman, McGahee, and Evans be at this stage of the season? My answer would be TONS better!
  3. Yours is truly the voice of frustration! The truth is that the Bills "might" have signed a gem in Jason Jefferson off the Eagles developmental squad. Why not go trolling for more diamonds in the rough? Essentially, it could be argued that this team should hold weekly talent evaluations of offensive and defensive lineman. What is it going to hurt if Bannan, Sape, and Anderson simply get on with their life's work? Some players cut it, others don't.... Move um out! I'm on your side here!!
  4. I'd also have to add that Willis McGahee is probably well rested!
  5. You mean to tell me Ramius that a talent evaluator can't identify a "player" whether it's football, baseball, or basketball? I can....I'm therefore fairly SURE Epstein COULD administer the Buffalo Bills along with the other staff members who may or may NOT, in your opinion, know something about football ( scouts, for example!). Oh, and by the way, Jim Finks won at every stop! Minnesota, Chicago and New Orleans in the NFL from 64 thru the late 80's and 2 years with the Chicago Cubs in 83 and 84! The Cubs, for your edification, went to the NLCS in 84. Pretty nice resume'!!!
  6. I think I can make a case for Theo Epstein! Throw Tom Donahoe into the ivory tower (strickly President of football operations) and bring on a young, vibrant, and talented guy who has held one of the tougher positions in ALL sports! If you are wondering about the crossover from baseball to football, Jim Finks worked both sides of the street in the late 70's and early 80's and had pretty good success too! Your top executive should be someone who possesses a vison for the future and I'm sure that Theo would fit the bill.... No pun intended!
  7. The best QB we face year-in and year-out is Tom Brady. The best performance this year is the one we just witnessed from Drew Brees. Yeah, he WAS a product of Joe Tillers' system!!!
  8. The Bills are a crafty bunch! I've figured it out though, and here it is.....Roscoe Parrish is the Buffalo Bills secret weapon! If you utilize him in a game, he simply isn't a secret anymore! What else could it be? We've watched Tom Clement and Mike Mularkey outwit the teams on our schedule, they've GOT to be saving him for the ultimate trick play!! I'm guessing week 17.....
  9. Thanks for your version HenryFumbles! I nearly hocked up a lung on that one! PRICELESS!
  10. I'll make this short and sweet..... Suits me!!!!!!
  11. You honestly don't think Jim McNally might NOT have pulled off one of the most amazing feats of this year in getting Jason Peters inserted at ORT? He replaced a first round pick in the eyes of this coaching staff, INCREDIBLE! Exposed? Please spare me that crap! He's played RT for what, two or three games now? An undrafted free agent TE for pete's sake! Jim McNally and Bobby April might be the only true quality on this entire coaching staff! Remember that!!!
  12. J.P. was the only reason I could watch that debacle and keep my sanity! It is fast becoming time to see who can play and who can't. I'd say let's see about the home game against Carolina (win or loss) and maybe MM will be forced to take a different path for the rest of the season. I believe letting Jason Peters go through OJT is going to benefit the team in the long run. Geisinger and Preston might be next?!
  13. The Head Coaching position should be offered to one of two men, in my opinion, and that is either Brad Childress or Gary Kubiak. If Tom Donahoe wants to recycle guys who might have better success the second time around, maybe Dave McGinnis or Dick Jauron could fit the bill. Remember, Marv Levy was a retread after his time with Kansas City! You NEVER KNOW! If this option is taken (firing MM), then TD needs to hire someone quickly so the Bills will have a chance to garner good assistant coaches who are released in say Houston, New Orleans, Green Bay or Tennessee.
  14. Awe heck, while I'm "at it" I'm going to use the Chicago Bears model of drafting DT's when they selected both Tommie Harrris and Tank Johnson and suggest that the Bills also draft Orien Harris too! #4. Harris, Orien Miami 6' 2" 300 lbs. A three-year starter that is a two gap player. Good lateral quickness. Accelerates off a block and gets "in" on play. Explosive first step to penetrate line and get up field. Can beat the inside trap with instincts and quickness. Works to push the pocket. Finishes plays and pursuit. Leverage player that bends his knees and stacks the blocker with his hands. Intense, relentless, and competitive!!!! What do you think? I'm envisioning Thunder and lightning at the DT position that could carry this franchise for near 10 years!! These two would INSTANTLY make Schobel and Kelsay look TONS better!
  15. Since we're spending ample time to review the talent at DT, may I show you the scouting report on Gabe Watson from Ourlads August preview... #1 Watson, Gabriel Michigan 6' 3" 335 lbs. Big, strong power athlete that regularly draws two or three blockers. Gets inside push by pressing the pocket. Has the innate strength to overpower blockers. Huge wide-body that gives effort every down and will finish in long pursuit. Disruptive player that is quick enough to beat block and force the play deep. Breaks on ball down the field and makes plays. Good initial quickness and instincts. Can hold his ground and anchor verses double team blocks. Two-year starter that is instinctive and competitive. Generally plays 90% of the game. Does NOT rotate. Just my two cents, But that guy would look awesome next to Sam Adams in a 4-3 alignment..
  16. My gut tells me that Tom Donahoe has a huge ego and isn't likely to jettison himself when he's in complete control of an NFL franchise. In retrospect, Ralph Wilson gave TD way too much power, and the aftermath might be awfully bumpy when and if The Chairman of the Board (Wilson) EVER gets around to firing his President and GM. VERY MESSY!!!!!
  17. AKC... Thanks for the endorsement, but I'm much more worthy as a poster and someone with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight! I'll say one thing, my wife asked me yesterday why I subject myself to this (48-10) and I told her that I'm on the wagon until they win the Super Bowl. I just choose to believe!!
  18. When you've finished watching the game yesterday, I believe everyone here should feel that at least 2 guys on offense and 2 or 3 are tanking it when things are NOT going the teams way! I'd be O.K. if I thought for a moment that this team was giving it their ALL, but, call me crazy but I DON"T SEE IT!!! The only reason I stuck it out yesterday was a chance to see J.P. Losman play and try to progress. That's it!!! I simply don't see enough fight in this squad!
  19. Don't hitch your wagon to Rodrique Wright, so says the guys from Ourlads.... From there August preview issue. #6 rated DT Scouting report: Wright, Rodrique Texas 6' 5" 310 lbs A wide-bodied, long armed tackle that plays high. Inconsistent to fight pressure and defeat the block or scheme. Will get pushed out of the hole. Plays on the line of scrimmage. Gets wired to blockers. Plays defensive end in the 3-4 package. Appears to be a big blocking sled. Uses a quick arm over move or gets push against an offensive guard but is inconsistent to finish play. Not as productive as size and ability warrant. Height, weight, and speed prospect. Their #1 guy was Gabriel Watson #2 was Jesse Mahelona #3 was Johnny Jolly #4 was Orien Harris and #5 was Jonathan Lewis from Va. Tech! The choice for me is either Watson or Harris (or both!!!!)
  20. I look at the teams who are solid week in and week out and they're built from interior line out! Jacksonville and Carolina are good examples. Chicago took Tommie Harris AND Tank Johnson in the same draft and look at them! Franchise Nate Clements with the distinct message that he's "up for sale" and garner a #1 pick for him. With Two first rounders, try Gabe Watson and Orien Harris (you get the message, Insert your own favorite college player at that position!) in the middle of your defensive line. Sign free agent OL's at Guard and possibly center. The chemistry in Buffalo sucks, so thin the roster of the problem children and find bonafided NFL quality performers! Other teams find these guys, so go draft about five or six! In my mind, the 2006 draft is going to be an eye opener in Buffalo! Retool the defense NOW before it becomes unsalvagable. Two stud DT's would turn the trick, if you ask me!!!
  21. If I'm Mike Mularkey, I'm saving my A$$ by starting the process of weeding out A,B and C who don't go ALL OUT and start playing X,Y and Z who are sitting on your bench, But would love a chance to prove themselves! In a strict sense, he may HAVE TO override Tom Donahoe and Ralph Wilson to do it, however, people in this league know who performs and who's collecting a paycheck!! He'll earn back my support IF he has the toughness to call out the malcontents and losers now!!!
  22. The season has produced some real pleasant suprises for me and I'd like some feedback on how "you " feel. With Takeo Spikes going down, we are finding out that Angelo Crowell is, in my opinion, VERY close to being an every down player. In my view, his play has not been a downgrade at all at that position. He has more than held his own! If anyone on this site looked at the possibility that Jason Peters would literally beat out Mike Williams at ORT by game eight, then you truly are a football genius! His accention to starter is a huge tribute to the athletic gifts he possesses and maybe, just maybe, hats off to the coaching staff for going out on a limb starting a fairly "green" player. He definately "took" to the coaching by Jim McNally to come this far. Finally, Eric King is making a mark by playing so much as the nickel back on obvious passing downs. Not too bad for a fifth round draft pick!
  23. Since John Madden got mentioned, my son and I were watching a game and the play was a "leap" over the line for a TD..... Well Madden said something to the audience that, to this day, we (my son and I) laugh at constantly. On the play, Johnboy said excitedly, "Wow, he must have jumped 12 feet in the air on that one!" The one thing that ALL the analysists have in common is the propensity to open their mouths without engaging their brains first! They simply LOVE to hear their own voices and overestimate their worth on any given broadcast.
  24. I think the mantra that "we" are getting the best five out there is sound enough, but how about this? Everyone knows Mike Williams can play RT and initially Jason Peters was destined for LT. Simply put, this move is "only" two players playing new positions, but next year what's to stop them from going with Peters at LT, Williams at RT and Gandy at LG? This way, Peters gets "live" action for eight games and Williams also sees action at LG. Next year under Jim McNally, I could see this being the eventual solution overall.
  25. Open note to both USMCBillsfan and Ned Flanders.... I'm "writing" this on Veterans Day and by any measure, this is HARDLY enough, but simply Thank You for your service and steadfast dedication while you are on Active Duty! I'm ex-USAF and really cannot comprehend what type of struggle you endure, day in and day out, so I hope I speak for others here when I extend that thanks to ALL the servicemen in harms way!
