  1. This is a good angle for a reporter to pursue. I'm guessing some of the fired personnel folks would talk.
  2. You're sounding like Baghdad Bob here. Mahomes is at this point light years better than Allen irrespective of supporting cast. I hope Allen becomes a stud too, but along with the talent he has a ton of fundamental flaws in his game that he needs to correct. He also just doesn't have that it factor (yet) that Mahomes clearly has. Allen looked like nothing so much as Ryan Mallet against GB. Still early, I know, but don't bring up the crutch of "supporting cast."
  3. Well, Rogers threw about 10 genuinely errant passes himself yesterday ...
  4. To my eyes, he pretty clearly hasn't lost a step at all. That's not why he's not being productive.
  5. You may well be right! We shall see.
  6. I think one thing you might be neglecting to mention is that guys like Fitz - a fifteen year veteran - get better over time because they can see everything in a way they couldn't before. McCown, DeBerg, Boomer Esiason, Kurt Warner - they are all guys who made plays they weren't seeing before (I realize that Warner and Esiason were good early in their careers; I'm referring to new things they were able to do at the end of their careers). DeBerg lasted forever and wasn't good through the late 1970s/early 1980s, but in 1990 and 1991 the Chiefes were 11-5 and 10-5 with him at the helm. Fitz will never be great for reasons we know all too well, but it's certainly a plausible idea that he is a better player than he was five years ago. He was quite good in 2015 (31 TDs and 15 INTs), so it's not like he hasn't performed before. He certainly has the skill players to put up numbers. As for the picks, all good QBs throw picks. They're always gonna happen with QBs who like to sling it.
  7. Chad Pennington post-shoulder injury could get you to 9-7 or 10-6 on smarts/savviness alone, but he couldn't get you more than 3 points in a playoff game against a good team.
  8. Their defense is seriously lacking in talent. They have two good coverage players and none of their LBs can cover. Nor can they rush the passer with any consistency because of the poor talent.
  9. Read the piece. They hve serious talent problems that he identifies. This is NOT the same Pats team, and I have been saying that since before the season started. See my post immediately above.
  10. Chris Conti! Freddy Jackson can relate.
  11. Enjoy their suffering while you can! This is great: https://www.patspulpit.com/2018/9/24/17896876/chief-thoughts-analyzing-new-england-patriots-week-3-loss-detroit-lions-matt-patricia-tom-brady "RECEIVER WOES: You never want to feel that a season’s success hinges on a alcoholic drug addict and a 32-year old coming back from a season-ending injury and a performance enhancing drug bust. But that is exactly what the case may be."
  12. the underthrow was one of heave-it-far-and-it-gets-picked-it's-a-punt play. Kurt Warner racked up a ton of harmless INTs on such throws, which are less than 50/50 propositions anyway.
  13. Re the 195 yards passing, there were four clear and obvious drops and no circus catches to counterbalance the drops. He should have thrown for 260+ and ~12 ypa.
  14. I know this is piling on, but Benjamin's "attempt" to field the ball on the late onside kick was laughably weak. It was kicked to him and he just stood there, clearly trying to avoid contact and being at the bottom of the pile. The game was over, so maybe it was best to try and avoid injury.
  15. Frankly, it’s outrageous. It was a gareden variety sack. Ed Hochuli proves once again he is one of the stupidest humans in America: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/09/23/nfl-clay-matthews-hit-on-alex-smith-is-textbook-roughing-the-passer/
  16. Looks like the Bills capitalized on the little window in which he was a fresh player with a unique game. The flaws are just too great with him. That said, as a backup qb who can get you to 2-2 over a four-game when stretch when a starter goes down (because he doesn't turn the ball over much at all), I think he probably has another 5-8 years in the league. We shall see.
  17. It's been all downhill since Up With People stopped doing the halftime shows.
  18. Yeah, I know. I said that above in a prior post.
  19. Continuing a point: Kelly finished 8th in the league in passer rating and 5th in TD passes in his first season: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1986/passing.htm.
  20. As I said above, he was objectively good in his first season.
  21. Kelly actually had a good year - a 112 QB+ rating (100 being average). He wasn't the reason they went 4-12. The D forced the fewest turnovers in the league that year and was in the bottom regions for points and yards allowed. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KellJi00.htm
  22. They will because in all likelihood the first 2-3 players chosen will be QBs.
  23. Looking at his letter grades, it's pretty shocking that every starter outside of Edmunds and Vontae Davis gets a B- or higher (mostly higher) given that they were essentially blown out.
