Free Buffalo Bills draft guide
Mark Long Beach replied to Dozerdog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most Impressive. -
I have to agree that it's one of the best games of all time. Can be ruthless, and can put a strain on some friendships. But a wonderful, wonderful game. Best played face to face but hard to find 7 people with a bunch of spare hours.

TSW Draft Party/Golf Tourney SoCal

If I drink enough so that golf is interesting, I won't be able to stand. But I just may be free that weekend. Not being able to stand sounds good. -

If the Bills were to trade up......
Mark Long Beach replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just say no to workout warriors. Anyone remember Erik Flowers? He shot up the board right before the draft... he was a winner (or rather weiner). We don't need to believe the last minute hype. Let some other sucker pay for it. -
How The Anderson Signing
Mark Long Beach replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I concur, CB is not a spot that you can just plug a body in to occupy space. Yes TV gives us some depth, but at the expense of our safety position. An earlier post here at tsw showed how few starting CBs aren't 1st or 2nd round draft picks. We've got a 4th (McGee) who even though I think was a steal, is still a little raw & unproven, being backed up by 6th rounder in Thomas and an undrafted free-agent in Greer. Our safety depth also has UFA(Baker) in the primary backup spot. Do not misunderstand me, I think that all of those lower draft choices have well overplayed their draft position. I think they make decent depth, but decent starters...? With a reasonable likelyhood of losing Nate, and our replacement starters in the secondary being suspect. I honestly will be suprised if we don't draft a cb in round 2. -

Anyone want to go over in a barrel after looking at those pictures? -
He'll have competition. If they earn the spot over Joe, they'll get to keep it. Clearly, Joe has shown that he busts his butt and does what the coaches ask him to do and probably a little more (especially special teams). Re-signing Joe is not earth shattering news, but I'm not complaining about having hard-workers who give everything they have on my team. He's got that spot until somebody earns it by beating him out. I'm cool with that. Why is he getting all this crap?

Assessment of TD as a negotiator

I'm glad you don't rely on the Wall for validation. But I'm a big fan of what you post, and I read all of them that I can. So, for what it's worth, I appreciate your postings! -

Biggest Bonehead in Football?(non-player)
Mark Long Beach replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mikey for me also. Appallingly bad judgement for years and years. Oh, and he'd never hire enough people to even do the jobs necessary, much less give them enough power. Embarressing to watch, and too easy to make fun of. -

I must admit, I've never seen it rain out here this much and just not stop. It's nothing that other parts of the country haven't seen, it's just not that common to have so much of it here. L.A. drivers are idiots in the rain. Pretty good drivers (if fast) normally, but seem to think that you should speed up when it's raining, you know, so you get home faster... Biggest problems are really due to the fact things weren't built to handle a crapload of rain all at once. Especially around hills, where shortage of land/views means you pack as many houses on a hill as you can. Unsuprisingly this leads to unstable hillsides which can give way when soaked. Most of the flooding that I've seen here shows up in the first big downpour. (see last month) Since it basically doesn't rain 10 months of the year some of the drainage systems get clogged with dirt and crap. It doesn't take too much to cause it to be jammed shut and overflow everywhere. The road that I drive home everyday here in Long Beach floods every year to a depth of 1 to 1 1/2 feet deep in the middle of the road. But since it's been raining pretty much nonstop it's actually clear right now! woot! (I drive a little Miata) The only thing I expect to see is maybe some more mudslides with the ground being sooo drenched. Especially along the coast (1 & 101 freeways). But safe around here! Just wet. -

Losman's still hurt...
Mark Long Beach replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do not kid yourself. Shane Matthews didn't have a team for a reason. You may be able to nurse half a game or heaven forbid a full game out of him, but beyond that you're basically admitting you're quiting the season. -
Glad the plumbing check went well.

Please explain this to me
Mark Long Beach replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well they SHOULD stand behind their teammates/players. Until they make a move to replace them. Period. If you're always whining or pointing fingers you aren't adding to a team, you're distracting from it. It takes a TEAM effort to win in this game and that means you circle the wagons and stand by your teammates for all that you've got until you have no choice otherwise. Even if you've got a weak player, but there are no better alternatives, you support that weak player because not supporting them (likely) means that you've given up on the season. -

Thank god for the drugs. A wonderful combination of two things that I can't remember. Just like the rest of the procedure. I remember the attractive nurse, and being happy for the drugs. Oh, and like everyone else has said, the whole day or so before is a pain. I had to drink tons of some sort of clensing shake type stuff. lots of long purges on the old porcelin throne. Not something I'd repeat for fun. But ya got to do what ya got to do.

I am Positively ILL after that play. -
Very pretty. Spooky. Other than that, pretty standard shootemup. But, very, very pretty.

Well, recognize that the Charger fans are treated with an extra helping of bad manners. I've noticed a pretty strong loathing factor between the two sets of fans.

I've read many of his books, but not the ones listed. He's been doing a lot of different genres. I'm pretty much into sf/fantasy, so I've not followed his forays into different areas. Loved 'Carrion Comfort' (horror), Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion/Endimium/Rise of Endimum' (SciFi). So if you enjoyed reading some of his books, I strongly recommend the above mentioned ones. If you're interested I can give you reviews on other books of his that I've read.

(OT) Martha Stewart decides....

Trust me. Given the choice she'd NOT do the 5 mos. It isn't hard labor, but considering what she did to get it, it's plenty punishment. -
Voom has it. It's one of my regular channels that I watch. It probably more than any other single channel except maybe espn HD.
