Zerbie Sanders and Mark Asper
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt a team would waste practice reps on a guy who can't play all year. That being said, sitting in meeting an observing is a big help the following year. Also would think he's work big time on strength and conditioning. -
Joe Flacco - interested?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to DJasper Probincrux III's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about Sanchez? Will he also be on the trading block? And may come much cheaper? Baltimore is happy with Flacco, maybe not thrilled but content to keep him. I think the Jet's may have to move Sanchez as relationship is sooo strained at this point, so if forced to make move $$ comes down. For those who want to get rid of CG, bringing in a new QB would likely assure that happens at least by the following year as with CG's offense being rather complex, likely a new QB will struggle learning. Say what you want about Fitz, arm strength is weak, but I think he's one of the exceptions in that he's capable of understanding it. That may be why CG is so in love with Fitz as he's the first QB he's ever had that actually understands it, (just not the arm to go with it) So a new QB will likely struggle, team regresses and if CG does survive this off-season, if the team gets worse, he'll be gone by the following year. -
Well Wanny's D is based on rushing only four. With Mario hurt it was killing him. Now that he seems to be back and playing well, the D is doing well. Add a top notch LB in off season and maybe some depth in the secondary who can actually play, a year of experience for Gilmore and Brooks, maybe Sercy starts. Maybe another off season Merriman will even be playing at a high level, or was he only signed thru this season?? Don't recall??

Jim Tressel in Buffalo Today
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to (716)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tressel had a daughter that went to RIT, I'm sure she's graduated by now, (she was there around 5 years ago when my daughter attended) but maybe a younger sibling is there now, so was in the neighborhood. She was a photo science major, recall hearing how she'd bring in for projects sideline photo's from OSU games, that was how she "outed" herself. I belive Tressel was even the commencement speaker the year his daughter graduated. Or maybe the daughter now has a Rochester connection?? -
Where do you rank Fitzpatrick?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just to be different I'll break it down into thirds. I'd rank him near the top of the bottom third. Between 23 to 26. Will better receivers, may be a little higher. Biggest issue I see are the wild throws. If he could improve the accuracy, probably could live with the other issues like arm strength and would certainly become smaller problems. -
Weird: Buffalo gets no NFL early game on TV
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes it's on DTV, ST but if you live in any of the region that's backed out due to no sell out, it's also blacked out on Sunday Ticket. I have ST this year for the first time and I live in NC so here can watch it. I will admit I've enjoyed ST more than I thought I would, mainly watching other games that weren't on locally. -
Weird: Buffalo gets no NFL early game on TV
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not allowed to have an early game on CBS, is strange that they are showing the late one. Fox probably figures even though game isn't one too many people will illegally be watching someplace, so no one left to watch early on Fox. Actually if I were the local Fox affiliate, it kind of makes sense to do what they are doing. -
Tyler Wilson Q.B. Arkansas

He should fit in great here then!! -
And you know this how?? Did RW personally tell you? And even if he did what he publicly states vs what he really thinks, are likely two different things. Any team and any coach in any sport will never publicly state anything negative unless they are going to make a change now. 20 or 30 years ago was common practice to change coaches mid season, that's gone away, so likely CG will be here till seasons end. Will RW fire him then, I'd say there's a good chance it will happen, but whether RW plans to or not, at this point, we have no clue. I do think RW still talks with CG, RB, and Nix regularly, however I don't think he has the energy to put into the team what he once did. He does appear to be slowing down considerably.

Punting with 3 mins left
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Livinginthepast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I've seen, most would punt with three timeouts and the 2 minute warning still left. It was a tough call either way, if they went for it and didn't make it, he'd be ripped for that too. I agree with others the D played pretty well most of the game so punt, pin him which we did and stop them, which we didn't. -
Who will be HC next year?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't think RW is doing much micromanaging these days. He's just kind of hanging on, which in itself is a problem. -
Did you know . . .
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you know..... That in 1970 or 71 (can't recall which) they almost went to a coin flip to determine post season eligibility? Came down to last game for Giants and Lions, if they both won, all the tie breakers were even, would have been a coin flip. (There weren't nearly as many tie breakers in place back then) Both teams volunteered to play a game on the following Tuesday, to avoid the coin flip, but league said no rule are the rules. Fortunately for the league, the Giants were upset by the Rams and coin flip went away. That off season the league added in many more tie breaker elements so has never come close to a coin flip since. -
Are Schoop And Bulldog Married ?

And then the create posts like this and rant how they should be fired. All the station manager cares about is that people listen, they could care less whether you love him or hate him, just listen. And then it's even better when people write posts about how bad the show is as that will likely mean others will also listen to find out for themselves how bad it it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you want to get rid of him, everyone needs to stop posting how bad they are. Don't speak, write, post, or discuss anything about the show! -
What exactly happened to Fitz?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the other thing is defenses have got to know him better and take naway the things he does best. His receiving corps may have been better last year too, at least in the early part of the season until injuries took hold. I've also wondered how much David Lee's help to "improve" his mechanics made it worse. So am wondering the last few games he's looked better. Has Lee's isntuction fiannly helping or is he just ignoring it and going back to what he use to do? -
Could have SM play running plays and Moore is in on passing downs, I could see that coming
-
Huh?? Um.... Most new regimes bring in new QB because the old regime got fired for losing too often which usually was due to having a lousy QB. Tell me when Tony Dungy took over the Colts, did they cut Peyton Manning, or when Dungy left and Caldwell took over, did he get rid of Manning? What's the coach to QB ratio in Dallas, (not that Romo is all that great to begin with) Norv Turner didn't rid of Phillip Rivers either. Any team with a highly thought of QB doesn't get rid of him when the coach changes. Would the next coach of the Eagles dump Vick, sure that may happen as he's questionable at best. I think he still has enough years left that would be a good pickup if available, but he ain't going no where!

Fitz Total QBR For 2012
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Emerging threats is a pretty generous term to discribe Jones and Graham. Graham may get there, but one of the things that hurts the Bills is not having a solid #2 WR I wouldn't call Jones emerging into that role. He's a stop gap at best. Defense does somewhat indirectly effect QB stats as in the Bill's case almost every game you have to come from behind or put up a ton of points. So now the QB is out there throwing when the Defense knows the QB is throwing. AND wit hmarginal WR's out there. It does make a difference. Can great QB's overcome that, yes, but even the best can't do it every week. I agree would love to get a better QB, just be willing to accept that unless Denver, New Orleans, NE, or Green Bay are willing to trade their current starting QB's, there's better chance the Bill's could have worse play from the QB position than they have now. -
Time for a new contract for Terrence McGee
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'd likely become the first DB coach to get hurt in a game, probably would fall out of the press box or something. -
Lindell vs. The World
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually I think Lindell and Norwood were very similar, very good from short distance, not a long leg. Didn't the Bill's also for a couple years bring in a guy for kickoffs then too do to Norwood's weak leg?
