The puritans are taking over the country.
Ramius replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
While i agree with you that professionals should be extremely careful about what gets posted on facebook, and that most people with it are stupid in what they post, this is above and beyond as what the girl was doing was legal. Whats the difference if an anal-retentive parent went out to dinner and saw her having margaritas with friends? They could just as easily snap a picture of her and she'd be in the same situation. We've got to be very careful about keeping private lives private, especially when it involves an adult doing something that is perfectly legal and is not bringing a bad light to her place of employment. -
Lindell needs to be accountable
Ramius replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Feel free to compile a list of current kickers you'd rather have other than lindell, and then share it with us. If you think Lindell is simply mediocre, you don't watch a lot of other games. -
I thought his life story was already on a sitcom...they renamed him Jake and put him on a show called 2 and a half men.

Lindell needs to be accountable
Ramius replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People think Lindell "sucks" because they are only choosing to be pessimistic and only remember his misses. They forget his clutch kicks, such as winning the Raiders game in 2008, winning the Redskins game that same season, the jags game a few years back, etc. Those calling lindell inaccurate or "not clutch" are simply looking for something to B word about. He's one of the better kickers in the league. There's no reason to worry about him. -
McKelvin had played a very good game against CJ. As stated above, i believe the problem was that the Bills were in zone on that play and not man.

Again, nowhere did i say ponder was better than locker, Luck, or mallet. But thank you for showing your complete and utter ignorance on FSU football, especially regarding the 2009 season. You don't have a foot to stand on him with your attempted criticism of him, so you rely on the tired old "the team sucked so its his fault" argument. Now i remember you. You're the same guy who kept trotting the "Ponder sucks because the team had losses last year and because he doesn't have a 'signature win'" baseless arguement all last year and over the summer. Sorry, the NFL doesn't care about "signature wins" when evaluating QBs. Funny how you claim Ponder sucks because the team had a poor record, but you give locker a pass for the exact same circumstances.

I've seen all of the games this season, as well as last, and the year before, and all the way back to 2003. So i've seen a bit more of Ponder than you have. For starters, i've never claimed he's better than, or should be taken before guys like Luck, Mallet, or Locker. This is simply a thread for some analysis on a potential QB who would (probably) be in the Bills' sights in early round 2, should they pass on a QB at the top of round 1. Ponder throws a lot more than "slants and dumpoffs". Fisher uses the bubble screen as a large part of the offense which is why he throws so many of them. As for the lack of deep passes, there are a few reasons: 1. Ponder's been having arm trouble this year with the bruised tricep and ruptured bursa sac. So why make him throw downfield when his arm isn't 100%. He can make the throws, because he's made them without issue in the past. He needs a bit of tweaking on his deep ball, but that's a release point issue and not an arm strength issue. 2. The offensive line this year has been hit with injuries and hasn't been pass protecting as well. Ponder hasn't had the time to spend all day throwing deep like he did last season. 3. Our WRs blow. We've got a good up and coming sophomore in Willie Haulstead, but the rest of our WRs are either inconsistent (Reed and Easterling), or young (guys like Kenny Shaw). As for his decision making, his "poor decision making" is nothing more than his trying to do too much on some plays. He's forced some stupid throws in a couple of games, as all QBs do, but overall, his decision making is far from "poor". Neither are his red-zone abilities. He can throw a perfect fade, as he's done numerous times. He can put the ball in the endzone, as he's done plenty of times with his arm and feet. He can buy time and find the open WR, which he has done numerous times. But, i'm sure you'd be happy to come up with a series of plays and games where he's shown what you deem "poor red-zone abilities" As for the bull **** "winning plays" argument, what do you count as a "winning play" by a QB. Is a winning play one where the QB finds an open WR in the endzone for the game winning TD on the last play of the game in 2009 against Miami, but the WR drops it? Is that the QBs fault? Is it the QBs fault when he moves the team into FG range for the game winning FG, but the kicker misses it? Is is the QBs fault when the RB knocks the ball out of his hands on the 4 yard line after said QB has driven the team the length of the field in under 2 minutes? I could go on and on about bulllshit "winning plays" that Ponder has made while here at FSU, especially given the fact the team hasn't been wildly successful (in large part due to the defense: see 2009). Perhaps you can enlighten us as to all the winning plays that Jake Locker has made, or about the winning plays that Ryan Mallet made against Alabama this year.

Its absolutely pathetic how Goodell holds the Super Bowl over a city like a ransom. its almost a form of extortion. Want the Super Bowl? too bad, you can't get one until you build a new stadium. Whats worse is that complete **** hole stadiums like (whatever-name-it-is-this-month) stadium in Miami and the Superdome continually get awarded Super Bowls. Seems like a double standard.

Jake Long over Matt Ryan was a monumentally stupid decision for the phins.

That article is almost a year old. There's no way the 2011 rookies sign contracts with no CBA in place. plain and simple. And, if they dont sign until a new CBA is in place, then they'll be under a rookie wage scale that will be implemented with the new CBA.
-
Maybe we can sign Lionel Gates too and have an unstoppable backfield!
-
I dont think any of the 2011 picks will be signed until a new CBA is in place. Teams will hold the rights to the players, but no contracts will be given out until a new CBA is agreed upon. I think the obnoxious signing bonuses and guarantees for top picks are already over.

5 things that make this team better next season
Ramius replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. This type of thinking got us into this current mess. Poz isn't a superstar, but he is a solid LB. You upgrade at positions of weakness. You don't create more holes on your roster by letting players like Poz go and then having to struggle to replace him. -
Funny thing is, in 2007, Bill was doing his usual lunatic offseason ranting about the Bills drafting a CB in round 1, and was deathly afraid that the Bills would draft Darelle Revis, and that drafting Revis would "destroy the franchise." He's changed his tune a bit now.

McKelvin had a bad game. No more, no less.
-
The roughing the punter call was a running into the kicker, and the Colts still had to punt. It had minimal effect on the game. The Collie hit did appear to be legal and it was accidental helmet to helmet contact. But, the refs are going to throw that flag almost everytime that happens, especially when the player gets injured.
-
Gotta say no, because dick would have punted instead of going for it on 4th and 2 late in the first half. On that same drive, dick also would have run it into the line on 3rd down and kicked the FG instead of attempting a pass into the endzone (resulting in a roscoe TD).

Bills/Toronto headed for a season split!?
Ramius replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did any of you guys actually read the article? What about this? -
Sorry, i spend time on these for people who actually want to have a discussion. If you'd got legit complaints and criticisms, voice them in an adult manner. Save the lowbrow, thoughtless BS one liners for the main board. But feel free to explain why he's "far far below" others based on the 1 or 2 games you've seen him play.
-
So its ok for Merriman to twitter? He doesn't need to "shut the hell up and just go play!" like other members of the Bills who twitter?
-
This is nothing new. Take a look at polian's draft history. No matter where he goes, Polian spends lots of 1st rounders on skill players.
-
So we don't pick him up, everyone bitches. But if we did pick him up, everyone would complain that the front office's ideas of improving the team were nothing more than acquiring someone else's 4th round trash off the waiver wire.
-
There is none. Bill is the only board member clinging to this asinine conspiracy theory. In reality, Spiller was taken by Nix and co because he was the best player available, and a serious offensive threat/playmaker.

Scared That Bills Take Ponder With First Pick
Ramius replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, but this is wrong. Ponder has played well this year, but the running game and improved defense are carrying the 'noles in 2010. Last year in 2009, the offense carried the team, but not this season.
