  1. Meriweather wasn't suspended because he was on the pats*. If a Rams or jags player put the same hit on, he'd be suspended for at least 4 games. Roger Goodell and his discipline policies are a joke.
  2. Some great ideas here. I like the catch and possession ideas presented. I'd like to see the TD rules modified to where you actually need to get the ball into the endzone for it to be a TD. I can't stand it when a player reaches out, lets the ball touch the goal line, and then brings it back to himself before he gets tackled at the 1. If you want to score a TD, then get your ass and the ball into the endzone.
  3. This board is filled with a bunch of chubby chasers who have this strange fascination with 300+ lb men, to the point where people actually don't want a great QB, but they'd rather have a great OL. I'll never figure it out. Last time i checked, a great OL never improved a crappy QB's inaccuracy or inability to read a defense. Had we drafted the lines, chances are both Losman and Edwards would have performed better. I'd say either one of them was probably capable of leading this team to roughly the 10 win mark (they both had talent). However, both had their flaws, and i dont think either would have lead us to much more than some wildcards and the occasional division title. It is possible for a QB to get ruined by a bad OL, however, as stated above, we dont have to start the rook right away. We can glue Mallet/Ponder/Luck to the bench for 2011 and let Fitzpatrick have the reins one more season. This would then allow us the 2011 FA period, 2011 rounds 2-7, the 2012 FA period, and 2012 draft to improve the lines. Also, i'm a proponent of drafting OLs a bit later on. I think you can get a ton of OL talent around picks 26-70 that is not significantly worse than the OL talent selected in picks 1-25. To me, i'd rather have 5 above average line players than 1 superstar. Cohesiveness along the line is much more important than pure talent. (Provided you have a minimal level talent, which the Bills severly lack at the OT spots)
  4. Yeah, and all those OLs didn't do anything to improve their W-L record, because the QB play was garbage. They still needed to use the #1 overall pick to take a QB. You don't pass up a franchise QB. No one is saying that you need to start them from day 1, but when you get the chance to take one, you take one. David Carr was bad because he was a bad QB. His situation didn't help, but lets not pretend that he would have turned into Peyton Manning if he had a better line. We can take a QB at #1, get some OL help in rounds 2-3, and we can even sit the rook for his 1st season and play Fitzpatrick.
  5. I read that article as well. It was a good one, and shows what a crazy situation those teams are in. You dont reach for a QB, but if one is there at the top, you need to take a chance on him. Remember, there are Mike Williamses, Gerard Warren's, Courtney Brown's, etc at the top of the draft as well.
  6. How many wins did the OL picks generate. None. The Rams didn't start winning until they got the QB.
  7. Spiller was the unquestioned best player available. In the long run, you are much better off drafting the best talent as opposed to drafting for need. Drafting for need gets you guys like McCargo, etc. The Bills do need to get some help along the lines, but are much better off getting the franchise QB while we have a chance to get one. If all the players are at a similar talent level, you take the QB.
  8. Yeah, offering him a contract showed that the Bills were "asleep at the switch." http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/1186/dolphins-give-cfl-sackmaster-wake-record-deal Facts suck.
  9. I've watched Tyrod for a few years here in ACC land. The guy is complete garbage. He can't hit the broad side of a barn with his passes. He's like pryor, denard robinson, etc, in that they are amazing athletes, but none can read a defense and all of them are terribly inaccurate.
  10. He was absolutely shredded by Cameron Wake. Bulaga needed help and simply couldn't block the guy 1-on-1.
  11. And yet, after all that "fixing the lines" BS, the Rams didn't get any better until they got a franchise QB. Long, Smith, etc led that team to 1 and 2 win seasons. They get a franchise QB, and bam, they've won as many games in 6 so far this season (3) as they had won in the past 2 seasons combined. Also, the argument is a bit mis-leading. Smith was drafted, and was so bad at LT, they had to spend another pick on Saffold, who then beat out Smith for LT. Think the rams really wanted to spend the #2 pick on a RT?
  12. If you pass up on a QB at number 1 overall, you may not be in position to pick a talent like that again. A good OT or defensive player may push the team back to the 5-7 win range, which usually puts out fo the reach of a potential star QB. If you have a chance to take a franchise QB, you do it.
  13. Touche. It got rid of Wawrow. Kind of comes full circle. He quotes some punk douchebag in his tailgating article to advance his work, and then gets run off by one.
  14. The subways down here have milk.
  15. I never said acting like a douche was ok. I was responding to whoever it was that said its the "kids" that are the problem. The good thing about that thread was it brought out all the true scumbags that post here and provided a good update to my ignore list.
  16. Game 6, FSU 45, Virginia 17 - Ponder 12/21, 173 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 4-15 rushing Ponder continued his good play as we obliterated the "U". Again, FSU ran for close to 250 yards in the game, so there was no need to put up pinball passing numbers. He scrambled for a few key 1st downs. His 1st TD pass was on a screen, and the second was a thing of beauty. He threw a perfect fade pattern to the back corner. Put it where only the WR could catch it. And on 3rd down no less. His INT was a poor decision, as he threw the ball up for grabs deep down the field to a triple covered WR. However, it was on a 3rd down from Miami's 45 or so, and the INT came inside Miami's 5, so it had the same effect as a punt. Next up, BC.
  17. The old guys generally get pissed at the younger guys not because we think we're more knowledgeable than they are, but because we actually are.
  18. How dare they do something so offensive as asking if you'd like a drink. What nerve. I mean, honestly, who ever wants a drink with their lunch/dinner? Damn loser kids.
  19. I thought their animation fo snookie was almost a spot on match of how she looks in real life.
  20. Good post. It also gets what i am trying to point out, is that since the NCAA is effectively a minor league system, these kids are just as busy as the average NFL player is. Its nto as if they attend class and then go to practice for an hour at the end of the day. Thus the educational "opportunities" that these "student" athletes is sub par. And due to the severe time constraints, players are prevented from pursuing a "real" major. Sure, they can take what they want, but if they can't spend the time studying and in class, their grades drop. And if the grades drop and they become ineligible, there gose their shot at the pros. Hence, 99.9% of big time collegiate athletes take bogus majors. The free education is the biggest scam the NCAA is running.
  21. bull ****. Go out and get a !@#$ing job. If you have to take a job beneath what you think you should be (Newsflash: you aren't as smart or great as mommy and daddy told you), tough ****. Go work, earn a living and make your way on your own. You think i want to be working in a gubmint lab after getting my PhD? No. But i have to start somewhere. And i'm not about to cry and B word because it isn't exactly what i want. But its a job, its experience, and a step in the direction i want to be going.
  22. Who knows, maybe be worth a trial run for the end of the season. He's out what,. maybe 4-6 weeks? Claim him on waivers (if we can), and let him play out the string here. He'll be an upgrade over anything we've currently got on the field. Buddy's seen the guy in action before tho, so i'll defer to him on the final decision.
  23. I'm bashing you because you're an idiot, not because you're gay.
  24. What about Lil Troy in pittsburgh and Lil Ed in baltimore? They are the same size as Whitner.
  25. One of my friends here at school has a garden where he planted banana peppers near scotch bonnets, and the banana pepper plants produced their typical yellow fruit, only they were ridiculously hot. He found out the hard way as well. When separate, the banana peppers grew their usual mild fruit.
