Hangy provides good veteran depth at multiple positions along the OL, by far our weakest position on the team. He's one of the best backups weve got. I trust him going in and starting 3-4 games a lot much moreso than i do Howard or Wrotto. The only reason to cut him is more penny-pinching by ownership.
-
The cutting of Hangy would show nothing except the Bills ownership and bean counters (littman, overdouche) want to cut costs. Nix has been complaining about the OL depth anyway, so there is no football excuse to cut solid vet depth at both G and C. overdouche's trade of Evans and cutting hangy are 2 blatant cost cutting moves that cannot be looked at any differently. As for the topic, i prefer Old Spice or Speed Stick.

And what's your point? Trent looked very good in preseason, and then failed horribly when the real bullets started flying. All managers make mistakes. The good ones correct their mistakes the moment they realize they have a problem, which is exactly what Gailey did.
-
Even if it's good until after then, is there really any point of stamping a later date?
-
Actually, i think the cards did, because that was the game where Tuten dropped the punt onto the Cards player's helmet and Tasker recovered the free ball.

Maybe we should trade Stevie so we don't have to worry about potentially losing Aiken.

Wow. Quite the bargain for Kyle Williams!

I think you're on to something. Moran, quite simply put, isn't bright. not even a little bit. Giving him "information" like the Merriman stop is like giving a retard a firecracker. You don't know whats exactly going to happen, but there's going to be a loud bang and a trip to the hospital.

** HURRICANE PREPARATION: NEED ADVICE **
Ramius replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Lots of good advice already posted, and i'll add... Since you're in an apartment and probably don't/can't have a gas grill, but you have a roof deck, it might be wise to pick up a cheap charcoal grill and a few bags of charcoal. When the storm passes, if power is out for a few days, it will come in handy to cook on. When Dennis rolled through here (florida) in 2005, we had the grill, a bunch of food and drinks, and cigars. Since we were without power, we sat on the porch eating/drinking all day long. -
One might wonder what happened to the 78 million dollars the Bills received from the Toronto deal. IIRC, we were told that giving away a home game each season would broaden the Bills market and help us to be more competitive. From my vantage point, i can't see where a single cent of that 78 million went anywhere other than ralph's coffers. I don't need an itemized list of what happened, but i can speculate that very little of that money was spent on the football operation. So where did the 78 million dollars go?

Something to consider about Ralph and the Bills
Ramius replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather have no team than have a team that doesn't give a rat's ass about winning and is only concerned about the bottom line. -
Ralph doesn't deserve credit because he's overseen a franchise that has made the playoffs a mere 17 times in its 51 years of existence. Thats only 1 out of every 3 years. And its not so much the pathetic fact that we only qualify 33% of the time, but its moreso than in the other 67%, the team fielded hasn't even had a chance to sniff the playoffs. Ralph deserves criticism because there is simply no committment to winning. Its taken me a while to realize this(since i've been watching since 1987), but the times the Bills have been good are pure happenstance when ralph mistakely stumbles upon a great personnel guy or coach. (Which he eventually butchers) For better or worse, the ownership change can't happen soon enough.

Is this a fair question for new registrants?
Ramius replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question sounds fair to me. To eliminate trolls, ask how many super bowls the pats* have been in. 99% of their "fans" will incorrectly answer 4. -
Go back and re-watch the screen pass. If he waits, he gets tackled because of the pursuit. Urbik completely whiffed on the play. You can certainly fault him for a couple of his runs, but the screen pass was not his fault for "only" gaining 10 yards. If Urbik hits the block, he springs that screen pass for a big gain.
-
IIRC, there was a poster a few years back that had a huge trouser tent over Ruvell Martin when he played for GB, and wanted to Bills to sign him to a huge FA deal to be our #2 WR. It's a disgrace that they're letting Martin wear #83 however.
-
Spiller had a couple of nice runs, and he should have had a long gainer on the screen, but urbik completely blew the block that would have sprung Spiller free. Spiller also had a few head scratching runs. To not acknowledge both the good and bad of the way he played on saturday shows that you simply have an axe to grind.

The happiest day will be when the new owner gives Overdouche and Littman the same treatment Larry Quinn got from Pegs. The "thanks, but your services are no longer needed. Pack your things and security will escort you out" line.

Most teams have some type of cap guy, who's responsibility it is to watch the cap and advise on how much $ a team can afford to spend here and there. However, on most teams, its up to the GM to take that information and use it in the manner they see fit. Many people here have a financial advisor. But ultimately, its up to you what you do with your money. On the Bills, ralphie's bean counters make the decisions. The change to new ownership can't happen soon enough.

At What Point Do Nix and Gailey Own This Team
Ramius replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't trade away one of your best offensive weapons for an essentially worthless 4th round draft pick. You don't ditch Lee Evans so that you have room for Naaman freaking Roosevelt. The Evans move was a cost-cutting one, plain and simple. Ralph may not be necessarily "cheap" but he absolutely values the bottom line much more than he values putting a winning team on the field. -
Not sure what board you were reading. Whitner got bashed on a daily basis his entire time here, and McKelvin has ben getting slammed all the time since he fumbled in newengland* 2 years ago. There's no defending the Bills piss-poor record of drafting over the last decade. But, the biggest problem is that there are a lot of fans who don't judge a player's absolute ability, but rather judge them relative to how/where they were acquired.

At What Point Do Nix and Gailey Own This Team
Ramius replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen. This teams woes can be laid at the feet of the people above both Nix and Gailey. But ralphie wants you to blame the coach and GM, because then he can replace them every 3 years and all the fans will come back. Is it Nix and Gailey's fault that their hands are tied during FA because Ralph refuses to pony up for good FAs? Is it Nix and Gailey's fault that the owner and bean counters refuse to spend anywhere near close to the salary cap to field a competitive team? Is it Nix and Gailey's fault that we trade our best WR for nothing in what was essentially a cost cutting move? Is it Nix and Gailey's fault that the bean counters and owner refuse to give our best RB a nice pay raise for all he's done for the franchise? But people should go ahead and continually blame to coach and GM. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. -
If Fred was a first round pick, most of this board would be running him out of town for his 1,000 yard seasons, much like was done to Henry, McGahee, and Lynch. Fred's a good back. But the reason he gets so much love from here is mainly because he's a UDFA.

Jerry Sullivan on WGR this morning
Ramius replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the 4 cup wins, Fuhr tallied 16, 15, 14, and 11 wins. Obviously he was the benefit of the great Edmonton teams of the 80s, but to imply that he played no role is foolish. The fact remains that Fuhr won 4 Cups. If we get that from Miller, i'd say we're doing ok. He played in 1 playoff year for the sabres. He won the first 3 games of the boston series. After that, he was in net for the montreal series, where we were severely overmatched against the eventual Cup champions. He played good for us before giving way to Hasek. And don't even try to bring the stats argument to the table, because the NHL of the late 80s and early 90s (before the devils ruined it) was a completely different game. -
The turf is a bust! It should be cut immediately!

Jerry Sullivan on WGR this morning
Ramius replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah it would certainly suck to have a goalie who led us to 4 cups in 5 years.
