Merriman dominated practice today
Ramius replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope, you are wrong. The policy you are speaking of is the substance abuse policy for offenses like weed. That one you don't get suspended until the 2nd offense. With 'roids, its one and done. -
College Football - Do You Follow a Team? A Conference?

Its a thing of beauty watching Jimbo Fisher down here recruit and build the 'Noles like an SEC team. -
College Football - Do You Follow a Team? A Conference?

Same here. -
Nesbitt threw the ball a good amount at georgia tech. Of course, every pass he made was a bomb to Demariyus Thomas on a fly pattern.

Jay Glazer at Fox is just as good and probably better than Schefter. LaCanfora also has a very good track record at NFLN, so i dont Schefter as being any better than him either.

Why are so few draft picks being signed?
Ramius replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've got quite a few of their own FAs to try to re-sign. They just re-upped with LB Quincy Black, and as far as i know, are working to try and keep OG DavinJoseph, OT Trueblood, and LB Ruud. Those 3 will come at a high cost. Rumors have also linked them to a WR like Lance Moore or RB Ahmad Bradshaw, and they are in the market for CBs too. I think they're taking care of their own first, however. Also, on an interesting note regarding the rookie deal; Adrian Clayborn's 4 year, 8 million dollar deal is fully guaranteed. The radio guys were saying you might see a lot of this for the new 1st round rooks. Significant;y lower numbers, but most or all of the contract guaranteed. -

Ramius replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tampa's got 3 of their picks signed, including their 1st and 3rd rounders. So it can be done. There is still room for negotiation under the new rules. Just a lot less money available to pay to rookies. I wish it was a straight slotting system like the NBA, but unfortunately, its not. -
The problem with building VIA draft
Ramius replied to mikef272002's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ignoring FA is completely asinine. No one is saying go out and sign Nnamdi Asomugha or spend a ton of cash on 30+ year old vets. But there were a lot of young guys that are talented that the Bills refuse to look at. How about filling a couple of holes via FA which then opens up your draft the following year. They obviously had a bunch of money earmarked for Poz. Why not go out and spend that on Barrett Ruud? You need to add pieces whenever they can. This BS of simply waiting to select 7 new players each season and that's the only way to improve is complete bull ****. -
Buddy Nix on WGR550 this morning....
Ramius replied to Jdragon2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Logically thinking (i know, its not a popular option at both 1 and 2 bills drive), it would seem if the Bills had 7 mil earmarked for Poz, they'd use that same 7 mil to find a replacement, say someone like Barrett Ruud from Tampa. But i've got a feeling that the Bills had no, or are not willing to spend on a contingency plan for both Poz and Florence leaving. -

Not defending the Bills, but you can't say we "lost out" on Tavaris Jackson. He went to a place where he's gonna get a shot to win the starting job. Hard to fault him for taking that opportunity over a place where he'd be the backup. -
If the Bills don't sign any help this year, FA period
Ramius replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can be happy there to sit and wait, or hope that Hairston and/or Wang develops into a good enough RT. As for me, i'd just as soon they go out and spend money to get a good proven OT, such as Clabo or Doug Free. Then, if Hairston and Wang develop, you have a surplus of good OTs, instead opf praying for one. -

You're missing the forest for the trees. No one is saying go on a spending spree and bring in 8 new starters. But FA definitely has its place to supplement what you can do in the draft. You can't build just through the draft, not when its only 7 rounds long. Its not unreasonable to expect the Bills to pick up 3 decent starters in FA, specifically at RT, TE, and then 1 in the defense (S or LB). If they don't, i won't be happy with the team. Especially after the Sabres have shown the willingness to do what is needed to improve the team. Completely ignoring FA is just as bad as what Danny Boy does in washington. Frankly, if the Bills sit out most of the FA period and don't make a significant attempt to better the team, thats exactly the same as showing they don't really care about winning. -
I love it how all these other teams are interested in Poz, and he's one of the most talked about players on the market, yet he's not good enoguh to bring back to buffalo, according to the haters. Bills fans, the falsely named "smartest fans in the league," tend to have ridiculously high expectations for players. You evaluate players on what they are, and what they have done on the field, and not compared to what you expected/wanted them to be or where they were drafted. I wanted to Poz to be a superstar, but he hasn't been thusfar. That doesn't mean he isn't a valuable piece to our defense, whose loss will hurt us tremendously.

Russ Brandon on Fan 590 Toronto
Ramius replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tell Russ that ticket sales will improve if they actually attempt to improve the team via FA, not just re-sign our own and sign some low level backup type players. We need to sign a couple of guys who can start and improve this team. I'm nto saying go after Asomugha, but there are plenty of good, 2nd tier FAs that could seriously help this team. -
The Glazers are vile and widely hated in Tampa Bay due to their notorious cheapness. They've always way underspent the cap, even when they had the money to spend up to it. They are more concerned with Man U.

Peters was on the practice squad for the first 7-10 weeks or so of his rookie year.
-
I don't care how long you've played or how good you were or what you've had to endure. You don't quit. Never. Play out the string and be done at the season's end. Quitting on any team, at any level, is simply inexcusable.
-
That reminds me how much i loved the show, and how much i hated the ending. The first 5 seasons were epic.

Rumor is that their alternate logo is going to be a mock-up of some shirtless dudes playing volleyball.

Owners tried to slip things by the players
Ramius replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're preaching to the choir. His asshattery and douchebaggery are why this mess has dragged on so long, and he's the most likely reason why we ended up here in the first place. Sooner the players will realize that they have been following the advice of an idiot out for only himself, NOT the players best interests. -
Owners tried to slip things by the players
Ramius replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As GG said, how exactly can the players accuse the owners of slipping things in, and then turn around and claim they hadn't seen it? As Doc said, they are butt hurt because the owners passed the CBA first, thus making the players look bad. The owners made a nice and smart PR move, and the players are simply mad about it. -

Ramius replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
de smith has been the problem all along. He's been more bent on getting his name out there and putting his "stamp" on this negotiations as opposed to simply negotiating the best deal for the players. He's made this CBA about him, not about the NFLPA. If smith wasn't involved, this process would have ended much sooner, and the players probably wouldn't have been so quick to go to litigation. -

Ramius replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These morons (the players) do realize that if their shenanigans cause the NFL to cancel preseason games, then league loses revenue, and therefore the cap will decrease as well, resulting in less money for them, don't they? -
As stated before, numerous "good" teams have taken these types of risks and been lauded for them before the player even plays a down. For the pittance being paid to Merriman, it was well worth the chance that he becomes good again. No one here is saying that he'll be great. We're just saying it was worth the risk to re-ink him at a low cost.
