My thoughts were that once Crowell realized the Bills weren't going to be tossing big bucks at him to stay, he realized that he'd be better off having surgery now and playing lights out in the final 10 or whatever number of games, as opposed to having surgery at the end of the year or after the season, which could limit his payday.
If there's one thing this front office has shown, its that team players will be rewarded, but those who put themselves above the betterment of the team will not be tolerated. As much as i hate to draw this comparison, think of what the scumbag cheating pats* would have done in this same situation. They'd have told both Peters and Crowell to take a hike.
