Good post. I hate the soccer offsides rule. Of the 4-5 times per game that a team might actually get a scoring chance, 2-3 are negated by the retarded rule of having the defenders run up to trigger an "offsides". As for the diving, they simply need to make a rule that if you fall down and cry like a B word, you're on the bench for 30 minutes of game time. That would stop 95% of all flops. if your team is out of substitutions, tough ****, you play a man down. That would put a definite stop to this pansy ass flopping and diving and rolling around only to get up and be running perfectly 10 seconds later.

Remember too, Meredith will have 2 big benefits going into this season as opposed to last season: 1. He's going thru an entire training camp with our team, not serving as a mid-season pickup. 2. He'll benefit from going through a complete offseason of strength and conditioning, so an improvement isn't out of the question. Young players can take big steps in year 2, especially along the lines, because of this reason.

So who is gonna grab Memphis with their cash offer to the conference? That sets a terrible precedent IMO. (for those who havent heard, the FedEx CEO is offering 10 million yearly to a auto-BCS bid conference to take on Memphis, because his son is the QB there)

For all the spending/acquisitions the Jets have made, their season still rests in Dirty Sanchez. He showed very little in his rookie year (albeit, he wasn't asked to do much). His play needs to improve as expectations do. If he has the same type of season in year 2 that Flacco did, the Jets are in for an early exit in the playoffs. And as San Jose said, the Jets are fine for this season, but in the coming year or 2, they have lots of players with expiring contracts. There's no way they can keep them all.

I'm really trying to get into the Cup this year (in past years i've really only concentrated on USA games), but i just can't. Besides all of those God-awful horns (anyone caught blowing one needs to have it forcefully inserted into their rectum), soccer is still simply slow and boring. There's all this supposed "set-up" that actually gets nowhere. They take 5 minutes to move to the ball near the box, only to have a defender kick it all the way back to mid field. We still have the candy ass divers rolling around like they've been shot only to get up and walk off the field 15 seconds later. Also, someone needs to inform soccer that they actually make clocks that both keep track of time and <gasp> stop/restart. I hate the "stoppage time" where the game just ends randomly. I'll still follow the US, but trying to watch any additional 1-0 games is soul crushing. But the horns make it so much worse. I hope that if they continue to allow the horns, its used as a reason to never host a world cup in Africa again. Act like humans, not like the 3rd grade special ed class on a field trip to the stadium.

Any legit reason why you guys don't want FSU, Miami, Clemson, and GT to make it a super-conference? (assuming that Texas and their homies go to the Pac-10) Or, since the SEC said they aren't considering adding those 4 teams, should i expect all 4 to be invited on Monday?

I did a long study on this topic a while back, but unfortunately it was lost in the board crash of '08. I took a look at the top sack leaders and as it turns out, all of the top guys typically generate half of their season sack total in 2-3 big games.

I actually just got out here to K-state for a conference/workshop, and all the buzz on the local news and papers is that if things break down in the Big 12, KU and K-State are a package deal to either the Big East, or possibly the Mountain West, with the Mountain West making a push to be a BCS conference.

9 pages, and all i've gotten out of it is that Steely/Feynman thinks that its wrong and immoral for "rich" folks to just "hand" their money to their own kids, but somehow its perfectly ok and logical for those same rich folks to just hand their money to his kids.
