  1. This is what some of us have been saying since the preseason - yes the Pegulas were told and understood that this team would have its ups and downs, and that McBeane didn't expect to contend for the Lombardi this year. But no, they didn't expect to get blown out repeatedly, and look totally outclassed doing it - offensive linemen running into each other and not knowing who to block, receivers jogging their routes, etc. I have no doubt they're upset about investing all of that draft capital into a promising rookie QB only to watch him subjected to a serious beating week after week. It's negligence, and it sounds like McDermott and his team are formally on notice that it wasn't the plan and won't be tolerated.
  2. You really can't get too stressed about a young QB until you've seen them fail to improve or make the same mistakes over and over again, over the course of a season or two. Anything short of that is really a waste of bandwidth.
  3. It’s all about how he responds. These should be great learning experiences. I just hope he doesn’t acquire happy feet or a serious injury - that’s my biggest concern. He’ll put in the work if they can keep him healthy.
  4. The run blocking scheme doesn’t suit the personnel. I think the bigger question is will McDermott be empowered to fire a second OC and hire a third? It’s rare.
  5. I would’ve pulled Allen. Not because I think peterman gave them a better chance to win - peterman is he worst QB in the league. But the protection “scheme” was getting Allen pulverized and at some point you have to worry about the investment you’ve made in him long-term.
  6. The assembly of this roster - and today’s game plan - is pure negligence.
  7. We’ve seen a lot of bad QB play over the years - this is close to the worst.
  8. It’s not a flag if he’s going for the ball and catches it and the hit is incidental...,
  9. Allen should be benched. He’s garbage today.
  10. No, I don't think that's the right way to look at this. The League is making a concerted effort to change the way the game is coached and played, and if they're successful, we'll look back at the pre-2000 era as a different game.
  11. Had the same exact thought watching last night's game: this is what the League wants the product to look like. An arena league-style, pass-happy explosion of offense with the very rare and occasional physical play. Rightly or wrongly, the League thinks that "evolution" is necessary to protect the game (and its players) long-term. They're concerned about viewership and the decline of pee wee and high school football programs. I don't know how I feel about it - I certainly understand it, but it also kind of sucks for those of us who grew up watching a beautiful but violent sport. I do think, as PFT pointed out earlier this week, that it opens the door for a competitor to emerge.
  12. Don't forget Jordan Matthews!
  13. The Bills should move a bit of money around to free up a few mil and sign Matthews and Kendall Wright - Revenge of the Titans, or something like that - but seriously those two would instantly make our passing game... passable.
  14. Favorite writeup so far. The coaching and overall prep on defense last week was high quality - and on the back end, as I’ve said, the Bills’ defenders were running the WRs’ routes which reflects a solid week of study.
  15. Good stuff. On the “DRAW” example, it looks to me like he threw it to the wrong WR - he has a guy crossing from left to right into wide open space, right in front of him - if he throws it there (and next time I bet he does) it’s a monster gain.
  16. Last night was terrible because there was a flag on almost every single play - the games are becoming unwatchable, but the tone-deaf league refuses to adjust.
  17. I think the issue is the celebrating. Almost any time you see a player stand up and celebrate after a big hit (which White did), there's a flag thrown. It's nonsense, the NFL has become a joke, but if I was coaching these guys I'd tell them not to make any waves after a big tackle. Also, did anyone else notice in last night's game that Artie Burns' fumble-causing hit was helmet-first? The announcers (who were awful) didn't pick up on it - should've been a flag. Was a big turning point in the game.
  18. Again, with betting on games now legal in many states - the NFL needs to get its act together. They are amazingly tone deaf, reactionary, and stupid. You've got a bunch of billionaire owners who are not used to being challenged or questioned, a well-paid fig leaf commissioner whose only job is to protect the owners at all costs, and an administrative regime run by incompetents.
  19. Yeah maybe so - but the NFL has a serious integrity problem at this point and needs to stop being so tone-deaf. Sports betting is now legal, the implications of that haven't fully set in for the league - you cannot have games swing on discretionary, ill-understood calls on a weekly basis, too much money is at stake.
  20. I don't know about "biggest bust" but I do think Zay is in the discussion as the worst starting player in the entire NFL - he's really that bad. He fights the ball when he tries to catch it - he almost dropped that 53-yard bomb against San Diego. He rarely gets himself open. He runs with no explosion or power. Honestly, he's awful.
