They need playmakers, 2-3 more of them, it's that simple. McD has built his program his way, now he has to have the courage to coach a team with some star players on it. It made *some* sense to build the team with vets in each position group, at the expense of talent, in order to instill a winning culture. I didn't love it but it was rational. Now his young guys have been to the playoffs and that approach needs to move aside in the interest of ADDING TALENT. Yes next year's schedule is tough but they're fortunate to have coaching continuity, a ton of cap room, and a bitter taste in their mouths. Add a pass rusher, some explosive skill on offense, God forbid an actual NFL tight end - and why the hell not us for a change?

You ever watch the Metallica documentary? They brought in a psychologist to help sort out infra-band issues and the psychologist started to believe that he was part of the band and they unified around firing him. All captured in the documentary. Pretty wild stuff.

By the time he got on the field this season he looked - how do I say it - fat. I don’t think he was ever in shape this year, likely because of the injury. That’s not an excuse by the way. I’d certainly cut bait this offseason.

Would be a home run signing for us and anyone who thinks otherwise or just looks at sack totals needs to watch some tape.

I’ve been suggesting this all season - Allen gets too amped up for big games and starts the game all jittery, he glitches. Houston was the first time I saw it later in the game (he usually settles down once he gets into the game flow). Beane sort of confirmed the issue during the postgame PC. No promise that this fixes the issue but it can’t hurt to try.

I.e., we need to be sure McDermott isn’t one of those coaches who fears actually having star players on his roster, with everything that entails.

Their overall run defense fell off a cliff this year. Not sure why given their front seven - definitely not a good look for him, but he should be able to coach up the line.

You're spot on here. I asked elsewhere, "What is our identity on offense?" and got zero responses. Daboll talks about being "multiple" which seems to mean, equally bad at everything, not great at anything. Allen will be better for surviving all of this, but I suspect his talent won't truly shine until he gets to work with a better, sounder OC and a simplified approach.

Thank you for this. The poor vs. rich argument, for years, has masked the REAL redistribution of wealth from young to old that has been going on for decades. This country chose pensions over progress in the 60s and 70s and we're still reeling from it.

And again - if you're moving up and down the draft board to match the value, it's fine to draft for need - where you run into trouble drafting for need is when you pass up value where you're picking, i.e., where you take a need position that you could've gotten later.

More likely they release Campbell and he'd be a phenomenal add for us - honestly prefer him (as a player and for the price) than Yannick.
