  1. What would you prefer? A Big Trade ISN'T happening. So the list of perimeter WR's of note available at this point are Corey Davis, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Randall Cobb, Marquise Goodwin, or Martavis Bryant. Given the age and injury history with some on the list, you could argue Davis *is* the best FA option. If he signs and it doesn't work, they don't make the roster and we stick with what we have. I don't understand outrage over the possibility of adding options. If you're upset that we didn't do more before this, that's fair, but that ship has sailed. It shouldn't mean we don't try what we can do now.
  2. The right makeup and tools. Just didn't put it together. Many high picked QB's suffer the same fate. He was considered a safer bet than Mahomes, who was thought of as a product of Texas Tech's offense. And DeShaun Watson.... well, gotta imagine there were some character flags there.
  3. Nicknames are given to players by other players or coaches. Or through something they say about themselves. You can't come up with a name as a fan and try and make it a thing. Especially on a niche message board.
  4. I have a lot of respect for GB. But I don't think his being in Carolina has any weight on his addressing or not addressing the position. It boils down to a lack of finances to spend big on any one position and not feeling that anyone after the 33rd Pick in the Draft was someone he could count on in Year 1. It's as simple as that. There's obviously a massive disconnect between how he viewed the WR prospects from Pick 60 and beyond, how he views guys like Kincaid, Coleman, Samuel, Shakir, and others - and how you and other fans do. You may be right. He may be right. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  5. His prior moves in Carolina? As Assistant GM? Knocking Beane for Carolina's Picks while he was Assistant is like praising Joe Schoen for selecting Josh Allen...
  6. Simple. Blue means exceptional team leader and character. Purple means character concerns. White means not a concern in those areas. So taking Nabers with a white designation over Odunze with a blue designation means they felt Nabers talent outweighed Odunze's to a level where Odunze being a better leader didn't matter.
  7. If Simmons were ever in the plans, we wouldn't have Drafted Cole Bishop in the 2nd, Re-Signed Taylor Rapp, and Signed Mike Edwards. Whether it be money or not liking him as a fit, they chose to sign, re-sign, and Draft other people when they could have signed him. As I said earlier, it seems to me if Edwards and Bishop were serious injuries, they'd have done more than Jackson and Burgess. The plan is still to roll with some combination of Rapp, Edwards, and Bishop at Safety for this year. And the fact that *no one* has signed him says to me he's priced himself at an unreasonable rate.
  8. Honestly, this is probably good news for the health of Cole Bishop and Mike Edwards. I feel as if either were in serious jeopardy of being put on IR - they'd have done more than Jackson and Burgess.
  9. I mean, one can safely assume that this signing probably wouldn't have taken place if they thought he was coming back. But he still hasn't officially announced he's retired. If Simmons were something that was going to happen, we wouldn't have signed, re-signed, and Drafted all of Cole Bishop, Taylor Rapp, Mike Edwards, Cam Lewis, Kareem Jackson, and Dee Delaney. We only carry 4 Safeties. So as it is, we're going to have to cut 4 from the Safety room (also including Damar Hamlin and Kendall Williamson). I don't see us signing a SEVENTH Safety contract this offseason and cutting 5 from a field of 9. If Simmons were something that we were interested in doing, at least 1 of those many moves wouldn't have been done and Simmons would be here already. The only scenario where I see it being a small possibility is if both a.) Cole Bishop's injury is a long term one and they IR him and b.) Mike Edwards is going to miss all of Training Camp and the Pre-Season and they move on from him. But personally, I don't think that's a thing (namely derailing Bishop's development) we should hope for to get 1 year out of Justin Simmons.
  10. Bc Montana and Young is very much the rule and not the exception, right? And we're also talking 30+ years ago here. There isn't even 32 good starters in the league. If you're a good QB on the Free Agent market, you're signing with a team that: a.) Is going to start you - not us b.) Is planning on Drafting a QB where you might be the bridge - not us c.) Has a bad veteran starter, where they might put you in at some point - not us d.) Has a young QB that hasn't looked amazing since being Drafted - not us e.) Has nothing solid at QB and you'll be given an opportunity to compete for the starting job with other mid-tier vets - not us f.) Has an aging QB on their last legs - not us g.) Has a QB who is often injured - not us h.) Has a QB coming off a major injury or is suspended to start the year - not us We are absolutely not a destination for QB's on the Free Agent market any way you slice it. We're always going to have to pick who we think is best from a less than desirable pool.
  11. I love when people take a comment that was said weeks ago and already covered and post it like it's fresh news when the person repeats themselves.
  12. I don't know how you can say that my take that *both* the people who claim almost definitively we're in great shape and will be good *and* the people who claim almost definitively we're in terrible shape and are doomed, before even a single snap of Training Camp has occured, are getting carried away - makes me a homer. I've said each side may be right or wrong. We won't know for sure until we see it. Let's just stop calling each other "idiots".
  13. This thread has long gone off the rails. Look, I'm not saying it's unfair to question how he decided to address the room. Nor am I saying you should blindly support it with zero question as to it succeeding. But this is 60+ pages of largely just that. People wanting to get their receipts in that it surely will fail to claim supremacy that they were right. Or people wanting to get their receipts in to show that they never questioned his decisions to be able to claim supremacy that *they* were right. People on one side arguing with people on the other side, minds made up. Ultimately, the room is what it is. He built this room as best that he could in according to the vision that he had and the assets available to him, navigating the curveball thrown by Diggs. It may succeed. It may fail. We don't know. But arguing back and forth over "woulda, coulda, shoulda's" or blind support is moot. It doesn't change what the makeup of the room is and has no effect on whether it will succeed or fail. Whichever side you land on, you may be right or you may be wrong. But let's stop essentially calling each other idiots and let it play out before we proclaim it a success or a failure. None of us have a Crystal ball.
  14. It says it's sold out. I'm surprised. How many are they letting in?
  15. We wouldn't "see BB try" unless he landed him. I'd bet dollars to donuts he's talked to San Fran about Aiyuk and LV about Adams this offseason already.
  16. And Davante Adams was on the sideline live on TV screaming he wanted out like a year ago. He can request all he wants. That doesn't mean he's going to be moved. The percentage of players who have requested to be traded vs. actually *are* traded isn't great. Not to say it won't happen. Just to say this doesn't change a whole lot in my mind. I think it's obvious he's wanted out for months now.
  17. We've got 7.5m to our name and it's mid-July. Pretty much all of that is going to the Practice Squad and In Season Spending. It's possible there's a smaller level signing or two. But I wouldn't be expecting "top level talent" at this point.
  18. If his options league wide max out at no guarantees in both making the roster or financially - sure. Bring him in and have a look in the Offseason. But I have to imagine he'll be guaranteed more than that from someone.
  19. But he's in the shot.... "Deepfake"
  20. We didn't have an opportunity to draft him in the 4th anyways. We would have had to have taken him instead of Dewayne Carter in the 3rd or moved from 128 to the 1st Pick on Day 3 at 101. I said that the Troy Franklin crowd had severely overhyped his status as a prospect all offseason. There were WAY more warts in his game than his fans were saying there were when I watched his stuff beyond the highlight reel. I had him as a mid 2nd - early 3rd Round prospect. And that was before the reports of him bombing interviews came out. We met with him at the Combine. We were at his Pro Day, where he strangely decided to stick to his times in his (abysmal) 10 Yard and (lower than expected) 40 Yard Dashes - even though he claimed the bad performances were due to him being sick. We brought him in for a visit and even worked him out again, essentially to give him a do over of the Combine. After all of that, at picks 60 and 95, Beane wasn't interested in Drafting him. And no team in the entire league was interested in taking him until Round 4. Beane and the entire league determined in scouting him and meeting with him that he's not a prospect that can be relied upon in Year 1, if at all. If he were, he'd have been selected where his fanbase pre-Draft assumed he'd go and not on Day 3. And honestly, i'd have been interested to see where he was selected if Denver hadn't selected his College QB in Round 1 (as I think that played a role in his selection). Knowing all of that, it blows my mind that not selecting him seems to be the main argument and swaying point most go to when it comes to Beane addressing or not addressing the WR core adequately. He determined he was better off going with MVS and Claypool this year then he was with someone viewed as a risky project by not only him, but the entire league. I don't see that as an insane decision based on what the league as a whole thought of Franklin - as well as every Outside prospect from 60 onwards.
  21. ... if you don't disagree, you understand that "The Bills TE" is one of "The Bills WRs". It's a real weak argument to understand that and go "even though he plays WR, his official listing on the roster page is a TE, so he doesn't count and I'm only going to judge the room based on who's *officially* listed as a WR". "The Bills TE" is Dawson Knox. Dalton Kincaid is a Big Slot WR and should be thought of as part of the WR core, regardless of what his official designation on the Roster sheet says. Like I said, it also says Von Miller is a Linebacker and will all know he's a Defensive End.
  22. Dalton Kincaid is as much a TE as Von Miller is a LB. Much like Travis Kelce, Dalton Kincaid is a Big Slot WR. He very rarely lines up as a true Tight End.
  23. They did. Beane said as much anytime he was brought up. If the plan was to move on from Diggs, they would have done it early when they were getting rid of everyone else and would have had a different plan for attacking Free Agency early. And you don't eat that much dead cap unless you feel you don't have a choice. It was clear from Beane's presser when he refused to answer whether Diggs had demanded a trade and in the timing of it - both from when it was done in the Offseason and how soon after his last tweet throwing shade at Josh - things just hit a breaking point and it was done out of necessity rather than wanting to. Another thing he said in the presser was that everything he does is with what's best for the Bills in mind. And although he said we're not better without him, the move was what was best for the Bills. I don't know any other way of looking at that other than that the situation had become untenable. If Diggs hadn't gone nuclear, both publicly and probably even worse privately, he'd still be here.
  24. I would hope it's sarcasm. Sadly, it's really hard to tell with some of the posters around here.
