  1. The "inside info" was that the OP was told by a family member that Spikes was eating at a Buffalo restaurant over the weekend. Which if true still doesn't mean much. Especially since Bills brass are in Arizona.
  2. Yeah - it was pretty obvious to me watching the NFL Network visit that Spikes wasn't going to be coming back. But everyone fell in love with him so much last year, no one wants to admit it.
  3. Could you post them (even if unreliable) - I searched 'brandon spikes' and couldn't find anything like that.
  4. Just because he's spotted in town doesn't mean anything. He could be moving stuff out of his place and/or showing Percy around town. We currently have just over 5 million in cap space. I don't think they're spending any of that on a guy they view as a two down linebacker. I love the guy but the writing's been on the wall for a while now.
  5. As if the signing process for Harvin and Clay weren't dragged out enough - now we have to play the "soon" game with the pressers too? Unless they're doing it late in the afternoon like they did with Shady, I don't think we'll get either today. Seeing as how it's after 11 and there still isn't a press announcement.
  6. Straight from the mouth of Whaley... months ago. Before we started throwing money around like mad men. Before Spikes spoke of a return being less likely than those words. I've yet to hear Whaley say "no - he won't be coming back" about anyone. He sounded just as optimistic (if not more) when talking about C.J. Spiller thay day. What he said about Spikes months ago is about as close to "he's probably not coming back" as he gets. I'd even say that his "offer" to Spikes sounded more like "hey, we tried" lip service than anything else. Just let it go. Anyone who watched Spikes yesterday on either show for two seconds could see he has moved on. If he were to come back to us - i'd be estatic. But hoping/expecting it is just foolish at this point. Absolutely! This is a HUGE reason why I doubt he'll be back.
  7. @JoeBuscaglia: Saw @JasonLaCanfora's tweet about Harvin 3 year deal, with last two years voiding into a 1-year, $6 million contract. Reason being... @JoeBuscaglia: ...If figures he posted are accurate, it would save the #Bills $2mill on the cap in 2015 through signing bonus proration.... @JoeBuscaglia: ...So rather than getting hit with a $6mill cap hit for 2015, if the numbers are right, it would be a $4mill cap hit instead. #Bills
  8. @JasonLaCanfora: As a practical matter, Percy Harvin signed a 3yr/$24M deal w/BUF; voids to 1yr/$6M. Gets $3M to sign, $2.9M base salary, $100K workout bonus
  9. I don't want to "see what EJ has" unless he beats out Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor, and preferably another QB from Day 3 of the draft.
  10. I love Spikes and i'd love for him to be back. But we've heard Whaley all but say he won't be coming back and now we've heard Spikes all but say he won't be coming back. The writing's pretty much on the wall. The promo for his appearance on NFL Total Access tonight has the hosts saying "We've got Brandon Spikes in studio and he's looking for a new team". I think it's time to get real. We all look like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber right now: "So you're saying there's a chance!"
  11. I thought for sure he'd take #11. It's what he wore in Seattle and now that he's here, I doubt Marcus Thigpen's being brought back. But then again - he might want to forget about his time in Seattle. He had a helluva game in their Super Bowl win though.
  12. Not at 50. Briles is crazy if he thinks Petty's going Round 1. Round 3 - sure.
  13. The New York Jets agreed to terms with Antonio Cromartie last Thursday and he just signed his contract this morning. So I guess it's not so abnormal that Harvin hasn't officially been inked and announced yet.
  14. @InsideNFLMedia: Spikes on the Bills: "Of course I would like to go back but you know how it goes in this league. Guys with new staff they like their guys."
  15. He's right. They aren't the same player. Julius Thomas is a glorified WR. Charles Clay might not be as prolific as a catcher, but he's much more versatile. And i'd understand the tweet if we were paying more than Thomas - but even Wingo cites the guarantee is about 20 percent less with Clay.
  16. @hsimon62: if you are worried about the cap w/report that Clay's 2016 cap # will be around 12 million. don't worry. even w/dareus coming up (1/2) @hsimon62: as per http://t.co/TfHg2CvTtL, #Bills top 51 contracts in 2016 take up $109 million in space. some are projecting 2016 cap to be around 160m @hsimon62: Bills would have room to cover Dareus and Gilmore. Bills have till May 3rd to exercise a 2016 option on Gilmore which would cost 10M plus @hsimon62: they haven't touched mario williams contract yet and he has cap # of 19m plus. they can re-structure to clear more room if they want @hsimon62: great to have filthy rich owners who will spend whatever it takes including bonus money that lowers cap #'s to sign/keep key players
  17. I don't think Clay is a 12 mil cap hit this year. It has been reported that it will be 12 next season. This season is probably a smaller cap number along with a big signing bonus.
  18. By your math, when he agreed at 3:15 on Friday, a day already passed? No - Friday at 3:15 to Saturday at 3:15 counts as 1 day passed. We're currently just beyond 4 days since the announcement by Adam Schefter. Tomorrow at 3:15 will be going on Day 5. If they get there. Not much longer than the wait on the other deals.
  19. Considering he agreed late in the afternoon on Friday, your math is a little off. Everybody just chill. It'll be announced within the next day or so, i'm sure. Just like all the other deals. Sorry reddogblitz - this is going to happen.
  20. I hope they fly Harvin in tomorrow to sign his deal now that they banged out the Charles Clay contract.
  21. When you consider the fact that there's 64 starting Guards in the NFL - being ranked 50th best would make him a very good backup.
  22. I was saying I preferred keeping him at 1.2 rather than cutting him and getting back said 1.2 on top of what we have already saved Because most backup Guards are below average starters. It's the same way Kyle Orton was considered a top tier backup QB - but an average at best starter.
  23. I think that's very smart! Urbik is an average starter and a very solid backup. There was a lot of speculation that we would cut both him and Chris Williams to free up space to get a better Guard. But I like Urbik taking a substantial pay cut and staying instead of losing him and gaining another 1.2 mil. Chris Williams on the other hand....
