  1. Blue Horseshoe says...
  2. Honestly, probably. And I don't mean to be insensitive about that. Its a very difficult thing to introduce a new baby to an established dog. I have two dogs, one is a very docile omega personality pit bull/boxer mix. The other is an alpha, lets call him a "northern" breed mix. The pit bull is about 60 lbs, the alpha is approximately 125 lbs. The omega never had any problems with the baby, basic curiosity, thats all. We have a 15 month old son. It has taken a lot of time to get to the point where we are able to have the 15 month old in the same room as my alpha. Now, mind you, the alpha was delivered by me, 8 years ago and bottle fed by me. I had the dog since the day it was born, as a friends dog gave birth to 3 puppies, two stillborn and my alpha. The dog has always recoginzed me as the "pack leader." Commands executed flawlessly by him. Never once have I ever laid a hand on the dog in anger, even when he really pissed me off. This is critically important. A look will suffice for him to know when I'm mad at him. Well, now we bring home this new baby. Not a big deal, baby doesn't move much, the pack is growing, this is good. The dog would follow my wife around when she was pregnant etc. However, the baby cried, the dog didn't get this. We have taught him this normal, but it was more difficult than I anticipated. We recently bought a new house, backyard for the dogs, this is good. But now the baby is running. This is new for the alpha. The alpha doesn't like creatures that move fast and erratically. Well, some intensive training (using a basket muzzle and, yes, some tranquilizers), basically overstimulation in a controlled environment, have calmed the dog down to the point where last week the baby stepped on the dogs tail, fell on him and he didn't move a muscle. Very good. But you really need to be vigilant. The dog must know that you love the dog and the baby. The dog's environment and routine must not change (ie keeping the dog locked away separately from the baby is the worst thing you can do). The dog must always recognize that the baby is fragile. I believe that the dog recoginzez the baby to be part of the "pack" and won't intentionally hurt the baby at this point. But with a 125 lb dog, you must be vigilant. I guess this my way of relating my own story to you, of how, without trying so hard to make this an easy adjustment for the dog, this could have been a problem. I don't know what your friend did. Because my dog is a little different, and very strong and powerful, I have done a tremendous amount of reading on training and dog behavior, trying to be a good dog owner. It does take work, it doesn't just happen naturally. Sorry if this rambled.
  3. I say just light a fire under his a$$. Lets see the McGahee we saw in year 1 and in every Jets game run the same way for the other 14 games. We'll make the playoffs. Then we let him go. He won't run that hard again once he gets the big bucks. Let somone else pay him. Then, in next years's running back deep draft, we replace him with a 1st rounder. End of story.
  4. I'd argue against your statements here. Senior bowl guys thrown together with a week of reps, vanilla systems and plays, without any practice time can hardly be called the best college talent when compared against top SEC teams like Florida and LSU that may have as many as 15-20 NFL draft picks on each roster, running a system that they have practiced repeatedly, some for 4 years.
  5. I thought more of Hecht-Briere-Pominville Zubrus-Drury-Kotalik Vanek-Roy-Max Stafford-Connolly-Mair With Peters and Paille as reserve Fs and Paetsch as reserve D. Same D pairings as you.
  6. That was a pretty gruesome one.
  7. Just noting that we also added a couple of D-men. Mikko Lehtonen and Helbling, depth players for sure, but could fill in if they had to.
  8. Well, I'd say the past couple of years worth of plays have made this guy can't miss. I think Patrick Willis would be defensive rookie of the year if we picked him. Within j2 years he'd be an AFC lock at MLB in the pro bowl every year. I truly think he's that good.
  9. I think, also, that Marty may have been moved to clear some cap space so that the Sabres could activate Tim COnnoly. Not sure if they had the room.
  10. I miss something? If it was already posted & discussed, and I missed it, mods, please delete.
  11. Give me a DT, G and Harper, then draft Patrick Willis. If that was our offseason I'd dance a friggin jig.
  12. about the blind side hit on Drury.... I love Golisano!! http://www.wgr550.com/sabres/fullstory.php?id=2195
  13. So who's coming our way? Guerin, gone to SJ, Adams, re-signed by Phoenix, Larques gone to Pit, Roberts, gone to Pit...who's left....Bertuzzi? No way. Aaron Miller is still available. EDIT: or perhaps, maybe, just maybe...Smyth?
  14. That Preston will be given a chance to show what he can do in OTAs, training camp, preseason and during the season. You don't throw down the gauntlet by publicly calling someone out to step up and then not give them a chance to show their stuff. So, no, he won't be cut. He doesn't make much, and even if he is demoted, he'll be kept around for depth purposes. The demotion would likely occur during the season, unless Preston is completely a waste, which I don't believe is the case (at least we have never heard anything to that effect). So, my point, is that he probably won't be cut.
  15. Anyone read french? This site seems to be updating very frequently. http://www.rds.ca/hockey/transactions2007/
  16. to the flyers
  17. tsn is breaking the story.
  18. Did you even listen to the press conference last week???
  19. You could do a split. I have seasons, yes they will be renewed, and split with a good friend who lives in Pittsburgh. We each take 4 games a year. It works pretty well.
  20. See the video in the thread I linked to to see Willis filling the holes (against LSU, no less). Also, you'll see in the replay Willis shedding the block of the G, and stepping up to make a thunderous tackle. I can watch that video all day. EDIT: Here ya go!! With regards to the senior bowl, c'mon its a friggin all star game. What type of system do you think they had time to put in place? Its basically sandlot football. And yes, sometimes you end up out of position in those circumstances and get roasted. Or, you have the athleticism to track a guy down 35 yeards downfield. I see that as a good thing.
  21. Guys, he is not getting 13 mil this year. He is getting 6. Thus, our "cash to cap" remaining is about 27 mil. We had 33 mil. Relax, we have plenty of "cash to cap" money to sign players.
  22. As you can see, I'm leading the charge for this kid. He'll be an all-pro MLB for the Bills. Official Draft Patrick Willis thread
  23. If we deal McGahee to the Giants (along with our 3rd or 4th rounder), could we end up with the Giants 1st round pick? Take Marshawn Lynch at 12 and Patrick Willis with the Giants 1st rounder? Is this so far fetched?
  24. I like this statement combined with the fact that they will not release the criteria for who gets a second check and you can draw the obvious logical conclusion.... Every single remotely attractive chick will have to go thru this.
  25. Must remind self...6 weeks left until playoffs....relax, we'll be healthy for the playoffs.
