  1. Of course it is, best team in hockey, plays exciting, new jersey etc. My point is that the thousands of folks who signed the net petition (not 42) dislike the logo and will not be buying any gear with it on it. Thats all.
  2. That gets into determining if a fetus is a life and when. Noone has produced something that definatively says that mass of cells becomes a human life in the xth day/week/month. Thus, I'm perfectly comfortable, logically, falling back on the privacy of the individual to do as she will with her own body.
  3. Which is prob why Sluggo happened in the first place. I think this guy did some work on the new unis, pissed off the Sabres, he left with the designs (which were technically his). The Sabres couldn't use this design or any concept of it without paying this guy and hence Sluggo was born. Anyone "in the know" think I'm close here? Basically I hate the Sluggo logo design, new jerseys aren't awful. If they had a REAL logo with that jersey, I could have lived with it. As such, neither the Sabres nor this wacko will be getting my cash.
  4. Well at least there's something for everyone!! Seriously, its a decent walk and really, if you're only in NYC one day and want to see all that, how much time you gonna spend in a dept store anyway? I figure he'll hit Tiffany's with the wife (next door to Trump Tower), they'll spend an hour walking around that store, then not go into any more stores, as they just won't have the time.
  5. Hey, I'm with you, all laws that attempt to protect an individual from oneself or abridging personal choice when you are not affecting others ought to be stricken. Drunk driving, however, is one you need, as then your behavior directly affects others.
  6. From today's D&C Choke on it you blowhard.
  7. Your wife will be able to shop when you walk from Trump Tower to Rockefeller center. You will walk right down 5th Ave, no better shopping in the world. For dinner, if you follow the suggestions and are looking for a place to eat downtown, you can eat at Delmonico's Steak House, Bobby Van's across from the NYSE (which is nicely decorated this time of year) on Broad Street, or if you want to spend a bit less, I suggest Trinity Place NYC, a new place, but great food and atmosphere. All three are within a 5 min walk from the WTC site. Delmonicos Bobby Vans on Broad Street Trinity Place Avenger is correct, don't attempt to go crosstown. Stay going north and south, Broadway is your best bet. Also, it is a bit ambitious, but it can be done. You just have to know what you are doing and stick to a schedule. Make reservations in advance for everything. It will save you waiting time, which in NYC at Christmas time can be extremely excessive.
  8. Did he actually break his leg?
  9. OK, first question is which airport? I assume JFK, but LGA has Jetblue also. For purposes of what I will tell you, I am assuming JFK. You want to see 3 things in midtown and one downtown (Statue of Liberty). Thus, I would start in midtown. Take a cab from JFK to Trump Tower. I think its 50 bucks. It is the furthest north thing you want to see. The rest of the day, you will be working your way down the island. You see Trump Tower (FAO Schwarz is also right near there, if interested). Walk over to Rockefeller Center. See the tree, the Center etc. Then you'll need lunch. May I suggest the Carnegie Deli (make a reservation if they let you, it could be a bit of a wait.) http://www.carnegiedeli.com/ From Carnegie Deli, walk to Broadway, the street runs downtown. It is only one block. http://www.carnegiedeli.com/cdnyinfo.htm#NYC%20Deli%20Map Take a cab to the Empire State Building. This cab ride will ride you thru Times Square, so you get to see it. It may cost 20 bucks, but tell the cabbie to stay on Broadway, the point is not to fly downtown, but to see it. Then you see the Empire State Building. I have no idea about the tours. If you can pre-book, do it. Then, after seeing the Empire State Building, it should be about 2-3 pm, in my estimation. So, you want to get waaay downtown, to see the Statue of Liberty. Pre -book your ferry tix for later in the day, and go see Lady Liberty. Statute of Liberty The best way to get downtown, from the Empire State Building, is probably the subway. But, since you will be on a tight schedule, don't risk it. Take a cab. It will probably be about 30 bucks. But, walk to Broadway to catch it. Broadway runs from Midtown to Downtown and is a reasonably fast route downtown. So, now you've seen the Statue of Liberty and its about 5 pm. You can see the WTC site, its not too far. I work next door to the site. Again, stick with the cabs, its about a 10 dollar cab ride from the Statute ferry terminal to the WTC site. Now, you need dinner. But, you really don't have all day. Not sure what food you like or how much you want to spend, but you're going to want to eat right near the WTC site. There are a few decent places I could recommend. Then you walk back to Broadway, again a short walk from any restaurant you would eat dinner at. Catch a cab to JFK, through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Hope this helps, enjoy the trip.
  10. Totally agree Bill, it would be awesome. Preston could be adequate, i tried to watch more of the right side yesterday. I'm looking forward to this weekend where I can see it live.
  11. You've got to be kidding. He was the Bills best player yesterday. Is he where he was in 03-04, not yet, but the signs are encouraging. Hopefully this trend continues.
  12. Grier wanted to go to California for family reasons, I seem to recall. Nothing against the Sabres. We will miss him in the playoffs, but you can't sign everyone. That said, they had better sign both Briere and Drury for next year, take the Biron $$, subtract the 1 mil for a backup G, and give the rest to Drury and Briere. $10 mil should get both signed. I hope you are right and that once the injuries heal, our special teams % and goals allowed will revert to last year's form.
  13. From the article, this is the only thing that has me a bit concerned about the Sabres. I know I may be nitpicking here, but, IMHO, it is indicative of sloppy play. Our special teams are down, a lot, from where they were last year. Our overall D has also suffered. Our offense is just that much better, which makes up for a lot. But I really think we need to tighten up come playoff time.
  14. Actually.... This is how he likes his crayonz
  15. I'm hoping that was a two-way promise by Marv & Nate... Marv: I promise you won't be tagged if you sign a fair LT deal. Nate: I'll sign the LT deal if its fair & the team is headed in the right direction.
  16. Why do I picture the scene in major league 2, when the whole team was waving bags of marbles at Cerrano?
  17. vs. Jax... Attack with the pass. Have JP throw some slants and screens to open up the middle for the run game, run Thomas a bit to keep them hionest, and look for the home run to Evans often. vs. SD... Dust off the Indy game plan. Thomas gets 30 carries. Keep the SD offense off the field. Let JP take a couple of end zone shots (unlike Indy) when we get close. Hope for a blizzard. Before the season I thought this was one of the 3 toughest games on our schedule, and I would not be pissed if we lost, just keep it respectable.
  18. I just can't get Sunday's game outta my head! What a fantastic game for JP and I really hope he builds on it. As I said after the Jet game, I think we found a QB!!
  19. Vanessa Marcil has long been one of my favs, excellent choice USMC. Way to brighten up my day!!
  20. Nate has been an absolute monster the last month or so. Maybe it did have to do with adjusting to the new D scheme. Thats said, both Nate and Fletcher need to be re-signed. My question is what about the franchise tag. I know they "said" they would not franchise Nate, but I'd rather do it anyway than risk losing him for nothing. Would that violate the CBA in any way?
  21. "The people, when they have been unchecked, have been as unjust, tyrannical, brutal, barbarous, and cruel, as any king or senate possessed of uncontrollable power. The majority has eternally, and without one exception, usurped over the rights of the minority." - John Adams
  22. This should be required reading for ANYONE even considering voting for her for President. Good God! First, George Stephenopolus makes his points, saliently and without emotion, saying it will take all our resources, all our political capital etc. Then she responds, "you never believed in us?" WTF does that have to do with anything he was saying? Outta left field there. I feel like I'm talking to my wife reading that..."Remember that time 5 years ago you went Vegas for a bachelor party..." Then, she loses complete control of her emotions. Snaps back to first-B word-mode and says to George, you can just leave if you don't believe in us. How does that address any of the substantive issues he raised. Fuggin ridiculous. Anyone who votes for this one for President ought to become a permanent card-carrying member of retardia and be banished to the land of the galactically stupid for life. They should simply forfeit their right to vote. Hillary for President, my fuggin' God. And this emotionally stable individual may have the football.
  23. You are correct in your assessment for the basis of certain anti smoking laws. However, this particular law goes even further in that I would not be permitted to smoke while driving through this particular city in my own Jeep. Thus, it does not follow the previous basis. Secondly the fast food and cholesterol of which you speak does not enter your body, but you will be paying for it in the long term through increased health care costs for those who choose to consume the fast food on a near daily basis.
