The Dimocrap 'Plan'?
bills_fan replied to catchescannonballs's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Absolutely not. I will give you one shot to take that one back....(hint, look at my past posts, say in the Kobe 81 thread). Here, I even found it for you, post #252 will let you know exactly where I stand on 9/11... http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...&hl=KObe+points Losers, yeah my party sure lost last nite (Republican). We strayed from what made it a great party. Finally, if you are looking for a decent book about how big oil has influenced US foreign policy, may I suggest that you read this.... http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Economic...ie=UTF8&s=books Ignore the leftist leanings of the author and just focus on the facts. Interesting stuff. Stuff we had to do, but damn I wish we could get away from that dependence. -
Congratulations, America.

It is a christian nation, but there is the whole separation of church and state concept. Let morals be taught at home and in church. Not legislated by the government. Noone wants to stand up to liberal tax and spend more than I. But on social issues, lassiez faire is the best policy. Anything else smacks of self-righteousness. -
Congratulations, America.

The kids look up to their parents. I think its more impressive for elected officials to say that they will not force an individual to make the choices that the elected official deems "right," instead will present the facts of BOTH sides and leave the choice up to the individual. -
The Dimocrap 'Plan'?

I know of no idea in the past 50 years of history that would be smarter. The need for oil has defined US foreign policy for the better part of half a century and is the cause of most of the anti-Americanism seen around the globe. If we could develop our own sources of energy, you would see a radical shift in the way America does business worldwide. I don't want to see hundreds of billions go into this unchecked either. However, seed money and support that produces results is not necessarily a bad thing. -
Congratulations, America.

And thats the reason I can't stand the Christian Coalition...they can live their lives the way they choose, I don't care, but don't tell me, through legislation, how to live mine. -
Congratulations, America.

Only for 2 years. 2008 will be a once-in-a-generation type election, if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly (think Reagan in 80, Kennedy in 60 etc.). -
Congratulations, America.

Problem is that the current incarnation of the Republican party has not been about limiting itself either. And thats too bad, both major parties want to expand the size of government, which I abhor. -

I see no problem with the alternative for oil part. Anything to get us away from the dependence on foreign oil, from the whackos trying to kills us. That and forcing the average US family to not be beholden to the ExxonMobils of the world and their whims is a good thing. And I'm a libertarian Republican, for the record... Just like it wasn't the government's job to send men to the moon at the height of the Cold War just to prove we could do it??? C'mon, if we can do that, we ought to be able to find a reliable, cheap alternative source of energy. -

How do you know that? I mean, seriously, how do you know that. Have you been breaking down Nall's elusiveness in practice, seen him run the scout team like a precision machine, or have you seen A Train rumbling through holes a la Jim Brown and picking up blitzers like Thurman used to? You've seen all this right? And you know Nall and A Train can do it, correct? And you've talked with JP and know he is dumb, I mean, completely stupid. Borderline retarded right? And you've spoken with at least some of his HS and college teammates who can testify to his leadership skills. Correct? Since you have seemingly scouted the whole Bills organization, please enlighten me on this and give me some inside stuff as to why they are ignoring the obvious with Nall and A Train. Is JP blackmailing Jauron? Does Willis have pics of Marv with a sheep in a compromising sexual position? Is this just a conspiracy by that Oscar winning actor Ralph Wilson to get the fans to believe he really wants to win, but behind the scenes he's trying Major League-style to lose as much as possible so the team moves to LA? Please share the secret wealth and knowledge with your less enlightened minions.

No question, the mullah's worst nightmare is a free, democratic, peaceful Iraq. From my limited understanding, the Iraqi Shiites are sick of the daily violence and the Iraqi Sunni's are afraid of being overwhelmed due to their low numbers and past support for Saddam. Add to the simmering conflict extremists on both sides and watch it explode. Furthermore, the foreign insurgents, simply there to fight exacerbate the problem. If the Shiites and Sunnis could at least work out some small measure of compromise, the outside parties (read Iran, Syria etc.) would have much less of a say against a united Iraq. In fact, I'd argue that both groups would tell Iran/Syria and to a point even the US that Iraq is better left alone. At that p[oint, they'd be right and we could deal with the mullahs.
-
True, I was more referring to their shared religious beliefs (Eastern Orthodoxy) and cultural similarities as the reasons for the alliance. But, you are correct as they sold arms to everyone. The insurgency is unfortunately only one aspect. They are feeding on the disorder and chaos created by the Sunni minority/Shiite majority and the various conflicts and issues surrounding the split. If that could ever be worked out to the satisfaction of both parties (yeah, I know, and if the kick was 3 feet further left), the insurgency would lose steam in a hurry, Iranian or Syrian support be damned.

And its cousins...the screen pass and the counter run? Look our OL is a bad line, not enough talent. But the playcalling has basically made them look awful at times. Football 101...when the team you are playing has a very good, aggressive pass rush, use their aggression against them. Call screens to RBs and WRs, quick slants (I disagree about our WRs, just throw it low, they'll catch it), and run a few counter running plays. That will force the D to back off, giving JP more time for the 7 step drops.

True, that there were no outside powers OVERTLY fostering the instability, but the Serbs always believed that Russia would not allow the int'l community to be too harsh with them. Also, depending on whom you believe, the Russians were providing the Serbs with arms.

Sort of like what happened in Yugoslavia before we (acting thru NATO) stepped in and allowed the country to peaceably divide? Pretty fatalistic scenario there.

No, aging hippies and libertarians are not the same thing...sorry. I'm not an aging hippie, but would define myself as more libertarian than just about anything else in political sense. The core belief of libertarians is an advocacy for smaller, less instrusive government. And further from that vein, less taxes. Return more money to the people through a combination of spending cuts, tax cuts and reduction of the size AND scope of government. By scope, I mean a reduction of the items that the gov't is willing to address. No reason for the gov't to legislate "morality" as defined by the collective majority. Just as there is no reason for the gov't to tax and double tax just about everything we do to support its ever-bloated size. Aging hippies are just aging hippies. Not that there is anything wrong with aging hippies.

He MUST be at a minimum franchised for next year. I could live with a 3 year contract.
-
How do you figure it is based on common sense? Ignore the reasons we went there and simply forces on the realities of here and now. Why withdraw and what of the consequences, in your opinion?
-
Problem is, they have the highest tax rates in the world. You feel like spending the money you earned (at least the portion we get now anyway, which is far too little IMHO) or turning it over for someone else to spend. Personally, I'll keep it and spend it any way I please. Don't like that, then go earn some yourself.

Pre 1989, I may have agreed with you. After that season, he took it upon himself to become a team leader & builder (ex. post-game parties at Jimbo's etc.). Most of his teammates did like him.
