  1. I like West Virginia.
  2. Does that mean that the Bills were just unlucky to not stop them from wiping our noses into the dirt?
  3. Very nice! BTW, dev, here's an Animal Planet new series starting tomorrow, featuring those that you maintain you descended from: http://animal.discovery.com/tv/dark-days-monkey-city/ Enjoy!
  4. You and me have talked about him throughout the years, tenny. Head case coming in, straightened himself out. Chronic hamstring injuries - but when well, good hands, speed, big build, and a very, very hard hitter. He'd catch a ball and look for somebody to smash - hard. I thought he'd get some playing time with NE - but we know them - play the starters regardless of score. I can't see why some don't like the visit. That's all it is, and woe to the Bills (or any club) if they don't bring in players for a look-see.
  5. I repeat myself... "Blurb about Cushing: By Rob Rang, Senior Analyst, NFLDraftScout.com 2/11/09: ..."By most accounts Cushing was among the more impressive linebackers throughout the week of practice at the Senior Bowl. Rather than focusing on his athleticism and instincts on the field, however, scouts in the stands were buzzing about reports that Cushing spends thousands of dollars a month on nutritional supplements. While no one is claiming Cushing's supplements should be confused with illegal steroids, it does raise questions about how maxed out Cushing might be -- questions that could push the All-American down the board considering the top-end talent this year at linebacker."... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/risersandfallers
  6. I'm not averse to a FA TE. As long as it's a player that can actually catch the ball, and not just a "name" we've heard of. Last season, CIN signed Ben Utecht. Nice man, decent blocker, came cheap. The B'gals made a big deal out of the signing. He was injured much of the season - legit injuries. When he was healthy, he showed why IND didn't keep him...hands of stone. Caught 16 and probably dropped more than that. They should cut him, but he is inexpensive, and that is what counts to an organization that wouldn't tag a TJ Housh, a surprise contributor like RB Cedric Benson - instead choosing to tag a kicker at the outrageous price of...2.5 million.
  7. Feeding revenue into the government maw is now job #1. I shake my head when people speak in terms of a government "allowing" tax relief.
  8. NJ's Paramus, Bergen County's blue laws, and their rationalization: ..."New Jersey (Bergen County) One of the last remaining blue laws in the United States that covers virtually all selling is found in Bergen County, New Jersey.[22] The borough of Paramus, New Jersey, one of the largest shopping meccas in the United States, has four major shopping malls that account for a significant proportion of the over $5 billion in annual retail sales generated in the borough, more than any other ZIP Code in the United States.[23] The borough retains blue laws that are even more restrictive than those imposed in the rest of the county, forbidding all forms of "worldly employment" on Sunday. The borough's ordinance cites the belief that "the physical, intellectual and moral good of the community requires a periodic day of rest from labor" among its reasons for the imposition of the restrictions.[24] However, repeated attempts to lift the law have failed as voters either see keeping the law on the books as a protest against the growing trend toward increasing hours and days of commercial activity in American society or enjoy the sharply reduced traffic on major roads and highways on Sunday that is normally seen the other days of the week. In fact, a large part of the reason for maintaining the laws has been a desire for relative peace and quiet one day of the week by many Bergen County residents.[25]"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_law In most all of my working life after I ceased to be a student, it was 9 to 5, five days a week - with a paid 1 hr. lunch. I submit that that was better than this 24/7 nonsense. A term lost from the popular lexicon: "Banker's hours".
  9. It looks like a home-town beer label from sometime in the '50's.
  10. It will certainly build their vocabulary...
  11. See the anguish, the controversy that surrounds our sports multi-millionaires? No wonder many of them act up in public. Who wouldn't, with such stress, with so many fraught with the worry of years of having a great car, a mansion of a house, fine food, and the promise of a rich retirement?
  12. I never heard that. Are you sure? In countless jurisdictions in most any State, you will be charged with a crime if you discharge a firearm. Including an air rifle. Here in OH, you can openly carry a firearm - long gun, hand gun. You can clean one on your porch. Except if you do, you get charged with inducing panic.
  13. See previous posts from stuckincincy and udonkey.
  14. Paczki Day is new to me. I prepare breakfast, and a lunch to take for my wife every day. I don't have the ingredients in stock for those doughnut concoctions. I do have frozen berries to defrost and put upon frozen and defrosted wheat waffles, and Canadian bacon in storage in the icebox. I'll cook that up and tell her that millbank mentioned this day, and what a fine plate of food!
  15. My...such hatred for others...they emigrated from Europe because of just such intolerance as you now display.
  16. I liked them. Gave a laboring man a day off. One day of the week not chasing the Almighty Dollar...a day of rest...spend time with your family. What is wrong with a day's respite from buying and selling? I was last in Germany, when it was East and West. In Lower Saxony, merchants shut down at 6 PM...you could fire a machine gun down Mainstrasse and no one was around to notice. On Sunday, the pastry shops opened up around 10 AM. That was it, until the bars opened up around 4 PM.
  17. CIN signed Wright for the '06 season as insurance in case Palmer couldn't play. He took most every snap in the pre-season, and was competent. Good attitude...he left CIN for NYG on good terms.

  19. You would be acting like a petulant child. And in addition to ruining a friendship, you would also tarnish your reputation. Please don't do it, Poojer.
  20. Heh, Blz. You know and I know that this crowd is going to get rid the concept of a government by the people. Did you notice the executive order by Obama, that all government contracts in excess of 25 million must be awarded to a company that is union? They will become the Sturmabteilung Been following that jump-in-front-of-the parade Dem law that will put the kibosh on used clothing, a billion dollars' worth of toys, kid's books in public libraries, and so on? I guess you need to blame Bush for that. Unless it was stuck in among a dizzying array of other bits of legislation. Remember when a Rep. Congress took action against those crammed bills? To allow a President a line item veto. How Clinton thought that was a wonderful thing - and then when your Dems, lead by the Prince of Pork, sued and cried for their "right" to piss on that? Our OH Governor Strickland issue an order that if any soup kitchen, a church social, etc. needs something like a broken window pane repaired, that if even one person walking through their doors happens to have food stamps, a medicare status...well, if that window is not repaired by a union member, they, their good works will be subject to prosecution. You must be aware of the "Buy Union America" thing in this recovery spending bill. Wait and see the US companies that go belly up and axe workers as other nations put up administrative block after block. Foot-dragging works...
  21. Really...57 years old, not a big star, but a player good enough to be on several rosters for many a year. Bless him, and his family and loved ones.
  22. I'm guessing CIN cuts TE Ben Utect. A name. Don't bite. He has no hands, which IND found out and let him go. He had injuries last season, but even healthy, he was useless...he couldn't catch a cold even if you sneezed square onto his face.
  23. I'm all for the Cincinnati team to be dissolved, and after that, have the NFL assess the remaining teams, to pony up and return the 450 million dollars for their free place of business that was voted in by "fans". A minority gets yucks, but everybody else pays. Here in Hamilton County, OH, The Queensgate jail closed. 842 violent criminals were released onto the street. But the servicing of the half-billion debt for Mike Brown's free stadium took legal priority... Nice, eh?
