  1. It's a fair possibility. I know you've said that they will "overpay". That's counter to their history...last season, they let 3 starting FAs walk - DE Justin Smith, LB Landon Johnson, and S Madieu Williams. This year: starters WR Houshmanzedeh and G/T Andrews. But yes - Coles may well get a good deal...injuries whacked their wr corps last season, as well as most everywhere else. 24 on IR, a league-leading 84 games lost from their starters. Only seven of the 22 starters were available for all 16 games, and only five started all 16. One has to expect that Ocho Dinko will continue his pouty ways, blowing routes and short-arming.
  2. BGIM...this is Mike Brown you're talking about. They didn't say a peep to TJ until these past few weeks. Their interest in these few weeks was just window dressing.
  3. Kurt Warner had a physical with the 'niners today: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11448503
  4. Beats me. But it's my understanding that NYC is getting into deep doo-doo because of the drop in income tax revenue assessed on Wall Streeters. Here's a little parable I always liked... http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/13052.htm
  5. Yep. No doubt CIN would have kept him if he would have signed for a million+ or so per year.
  6. I never try to understand the 'Skins. These changes certainly are having an effect. No more hoping for those June cuts to pick up a player, or cut a player. Looks like a lot of players will be nailed to their current teams. Perhaps a good reason to stockpile draft picks, ala NE*
  7. Article by Joe Reedy, Cincinnati Enquirer 03/01/09. He writes about 5 major changes... - Length of time in prorated signing bonuses reduced. - The June 1 rule is gone. - Incentives count immediately. - Say "hello" to the 30 percent rule. - Guaranteed salaries move forward. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009030...0415/1066/SPT02
  8. Great news!!!!!
  9. Welcome to the forum!
  10. It's really been piling up the past few days, hasn't it? I'll post some words about Fitzpatrick in a day or so. Having actually watched him play (12 games).
  11. When he retires, Dockery ought to become an agent...
  12. Last season, CIN dealt with DET to acquire Shaun Rogers. The deal fell through, and Rogers quickly was traded to CLE. The only explanation that was put out was ..."The trade with the Bengals was apparently nixed by the league because of language issues in the trade agreement."." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3271113
  13. I find it fascinating that people shove each other in line to buy Budweiser in a 12 oz wax cup for 6 or 8 bucks a pop. Repeatedly.
  14. Can't say about the NFLPA - but my experience with UAW membership, and having lived in PGH when big steel went under, was that union solidarity and brotherhood was tossed into the ditch if it came to the high-timers having to sacrifice roughly 50 cents per hour, to keep their sons and daughters on the job.
  15. Numerous teams have tendered offers at varying levels, to their own RFAs. It takes all clubs time to look at those offers and decide if the player and the dollars are worth bidding for, and a good match for them. All RFAs' aren't bums - CIN slapped the 2nd round compensation offer on LBs Rashard Jeanty and Brandon Johnson. Year before last, they did the same on '08 franchise player OL Andrews. The Bills did the same for a couple of their current team members. I'm sure that BUF is looking at the RFAs, tendered or not, and not just the "big" names.
  16. 13 - 3 in '06, 5 - 11 in '07, 11 - 5 in '08.
  17. Yep, already posted. I wonder what the $$$ was - and I don't think Taylor is totally washed up. Given their RB injuries the last few seasons, my guess is that they are just keeping a decent bench.
  18. The Baseball Forum might suffice...
  19. Yes...when he didn't pull back from the center and fumble the ball when it hit his own thigh or knee...
  20. Confused here, Tipster - Stacy Andrews had a knee injury. He was the last of three 4th round picks by CIN in '04. He only played 1 year of football at 'Ole Miss - he previously competed in track (!). I think he's a bit of a risky hi-dollar signing. He played RG and RT with CIN as he matured, and was under the tutelage of one of the better OL coaches...Ass't HC/OL coach Paul Alexander.
  21. MCL also, IIRC. There was an off-season blurb in the Cincinnati Enquirer, though, that the surgery was successful and the recovery was going well.
  22. Me either. He's still tough as nails.
  23. Yep, him or somebody else. I guess there's little doubt that JP is moving on, so they either trust in Hamden or make a move. A poster previously suggested Anthony Wright. He ran the CIN club in the '06 pre-season - insurance policy brought in after Palmer's knee injury in their '05 play-off game. He was competent.
