Playoffs are Saturday with games now played at Benson Field in Canton, OH at the Pro Football HOF. NJ looks like the best team going in but the Stars might surprise. Early on it looked like the South teams (BHM/NO) were the class of the league but I think the winner of the Stars/Generals playoff is your USFL champion. Edit: I just went on DraftKings to see what the lines are and they're is nothing listed for USFL. Hmmm

Dillon Ward, the Mammoth keeper, was outstanding. But his defense did an incredible job of blocking all the shooting lanes for the Bandits. They also made it very hard to penetrate they're defensive shell. So while Ward made around 55 saves, most of those came from far out and weren't very dangerous opportunities. Meanwhile Matt Vinc, the Bandits goalie, was very good himself, but he let in a couple of soft goals in the first half. Those turned out to be the difference. Still, giving up just 9 goals should be enough to help your team win.

Kavontae Turpin is worth a look.

I don't think Buffalo is that unattractive to a goalie. Look at the young defense we have in Dahlin, Power and Samuelsson. Plus we can afford to over pay a veteran for a year or two. Players like Marc Andre Fluery are tight with Alex Tuch from their VGK days. I've also seen rumors of a trade with either Anaheim and LA for Gibson or Quick. Something will shake out.

Either way, the Bishop deal is nothing to get upset over. It's not going to prevent the Sabres from getting a real goalie. But don't expect a free agency spend-a-thon this year. It's not happening.
