I believe what I said is that it is early, but I would have liked to have seen a glimpse of promise to date I have not. there is certainly a trend bias going on here for myself and many... too many DL investments have ended up poor to average... there is worry that this is the same situation... unrealistic after two games ... of course... but that doesnt mean people are not looking for some kind of a sign that this is different... doesnt mean we are going to get it right away, but boy would it be nice if someone on the top end of our draft flashed and made us go... now this guy... It happens with lots of other teams... but outside of Hancock I am not seeing anything to get me excited... time will tell... I am certainly not calling them busts... or bad picks... simply that my hope was to see them as potential difference makers... I will be very interested to see if they Pop against Tampa... like Cmon man, show me that we got something here to help and develop into the future... Time will tell it always does... Now our year 2 players... Carter, Bishop etc... color me a bit more worried... not using the B word (bad or bust) but a bit more concerned about them...

I am not gonna lie, if we can somehow get out of that contract and get something in return I am about done with Samuel as I fear its gonna be the same old same old... average play and always injured... and i respect Joe B like you said... so lets see... Agree on Moore.. and hey if they can re work a Samuel thing so we get some savings, or at least dont have to account for more if we trade him, I am in...
-
I mean sure... like are we gonna get someone to take Samuel off our hands... other than that who? Josh Palmer? I am not sure that people are looking to the Bills to tap into their receiver room... I think the players people would look for would be Coleman or Shakir... and I dont see them being moved unless there was a great deal in return... other than that... So, literally if someone is looking to give us a pick for Samuel ... I am in... assuming there is a cap savings.

Thanks for this I did not know that... appreciate you.

100% agreed and can we please add in the massive money in free agency and draft capital used over the past years to get a Defensive line that can get to the QB and not get pushed around... Phillips, Jefferson, Ford, Miller, Hoecht, Ogunjobi, Carter, albiet rookies but have not looked in anyway good in their short time Landon, Deone Walker, TJ Sanders... literally an entire front end of a draft to address the defense especially the D Line and the pass rush and to date I have seen nothing but them get dominated (I know its way early, but I would like to have seen at least a glimpse of promise like oh I see what the possibility is here... ) Like how long can you go trying to improve this line and how many misses does it take. Bosa is the only hope I see for improvement at this time... or that somehow the Sanders, Walker, Jackson trio get it to click and show us there is potential... but color me frustrated as well with our inability to get a premier player on the DL.

I think we saw (and McBeane) saw Gabe in decline when we didnt try to resign him.. of course the money he signed for was insane... I think ankle and foot issues have compromised him a bit... when he left his performance was questionable and his ability to stay healthy was even more concerning... as he comes back to us now potentially for a workout... Injured... that said, vet min deal for PS or insurance... fine.. spending even 3 or 4 WR money on him... hard pass...
-
If we could get out from that contract I agree but we would literally need to restructure a deal just to get rid of him or find savings another way
-
So. I am with you on the over reaction to the outcome of the game... I would say this... I definitely want everyone healthy over anything... but I also like to watch pre season to see those guys that provide some pop.. that look like they are gonna help improve this team... So, Walker, Jackson, Carter, Hairston, Bishop, Hancock, Sedrick, Hoecht, Ogunjobi, those guys that we haven't had before or are in their second year... like who is the bright spot... I am seeing precious little of that... some are injured, that is disappointing, Hancock and Gore seem to have shown a bit, that is nice for sure, the rest 2 games in are either a non event and some who have been with us have shown some regression... concerned... no, interested, yup... faith boosted not really... so, I am in between whistling by the grave yard... and looking for something more from these folks... especially the 2nd year players... but for sure no rookie of the year candidates have hit the field that I have seen... Blown season.. I am with you and laughing... this season again rides on Josh and if we can get just a bit of improvement out of our defense... doesnt even need to be epic, just moderate..

Not a huge Gabe fan... but I am even less of a Samuel fan... at least Gabe has some size.. 4th 5th guy... ok... But the sheer cap issue as you have layed it out with Samuel makes it totally cost prohibitive to cut him... like how you gonna work that.. its a bust all the way around. Watching an X take them back because they are desperate is as bad... the two together... I dunno... but its STILL probably better than Samuel... but I dont think the money is gonna work out I think Samuel is on this team.
-
Dude... you could have played you way over Bishop AND Hamlin in the last game... I would not besmirch the word atrocious by using it in this instance.
-
Anyone see Curtis Samuel today.... or this year? I have no idea what the dead cap hit is on this bust but if he gets a roster spot either the dead cap is too much or he has pictures of somebody LOL... These signings are what makes me question Beane sometimes... but the bottom line is I honestly would rather have Gabe than throw the 1 yard pass to CS at the line of scrimmage to get him blown up ...
-
This may be unpopular, because quite honestly, I am glad to be rid of his drama, as well as I believe that his leaving was addition by subtraction.. whole greater than the sum of its parts... but... if you are asking me how good is he now... I would guess after he completely heals from his ACL he would probably still be a No1 receiver in this room... not a top 10 guy in the league, but a top 25 guy maybe... good not excellent... this is nothing on Shakir, maybe he would get more yards, I dont know... But I am not sure he is a feature guy... top 30 in receptions and top 40 in yards... I feel like diggs would slot top 25 receptions and 30 in yards... BUT, for that kind of money, why would you do that? Plus the injury recovery, when is he really right... week 10 ... playoffs? And we know what we get from him recently in the playoffs... If you are asking me how good was he when he was with us... top 10... a serious weapon, but not a total domination reciever like St Ra, Jefferson, etc...

Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?

If I am honest, they are seeing an opening to not even game plan and run whatever they want knowing success is inevitable... kidding aside, there was really no silver lining... they ran, screened, quick hitches, rolled out, got the ball to recievers in space, downfield throws, QB scrambles, bully ball in the red zone... literally the Bears... just did whatever they wanted... nothing that we have done all pre season would make a team shy away from any portion of their playbook... Not trying to push you off... but also I dont see a SB team with a pass rush as bad as our and run stopping as bad as ours and failure rate on 3rd and long as bad as ours... we were last in the league at forcing punts last year... -

I think this is right... our ability to get off the field in 3rd and long was not good enough... and I agree turnovers really did save us.. without those I am not sure we get the 2nd seed... bottom line all of us (or most of us minus the trolls) want a superbowl win.. we have lived our entire lives without one.. its easy to pick out flaws, much harder to correct... but the bottom line to me is this defense as it stands is soul sucking to watch, we can stat away, but we all know we dont get off the field, nor are we a feared defense ... can you imagine what that defense would rank if we had JP Losman, or Fitz, or Edwards, or Peterman or Manuel at the helm... with lots of quick 3 and outs... we shant forget the fact they have the benefit of Josh grinding 5,6,7 minutes off the clock in sustained drives while they are resting.. can you imagine if they were the Colts defense, or the Raiders, or the Jets... the "stats" would be atrocious... we need to be better... -

Here is the other thing... If you ever had a chance to play an aggressive defense, its when you have an offense that scores at will... what they are doing isnt working... if they beat you they beat you... let them do it in 2 minutes not 7.... cause they are beating you anyways... we literally forced the least punt on defense in the entire league tied with Carolina... that is atrocious. -
If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
JP51 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know but literally its all I got for keeping him... so there you go LOL but for the most part you are right, I have seen situations where knowing the system is helpful.. but bottom like is he knows it but cant execute it.. This is disturbing... and I did notice Buffalo Joe looked really bad yesterday... always seemed to be out of position. I honestly did not notice him... and with that defensive performance that is a really good thing. -

Yeah, I dont think Dane is long for this team... at best PS incase we have a major issue... Hamlin is just not a good saftey.. he knows the system... but we need an upgrade... I havent seen Forrest play.. I heard Hancock was being looked at as a saftey, bottom line is our DBs are not good... Iike to the point that you are thinking hmmmm... is Poyer an upgrade LOL whats Ronnie Lott doing now a days... can we get AJ Klein out of the RV and convert him to saftey... LOL... 🤣 -

I would go further... our secondary is just terrible (including our LBs in coverage) he is part of the problem. -
What one player acquired in a trade would guarantee a championship?
JP51 replied to RangerDave's topic in The Stadium Wall
Parsons, Hutchison, Garret or Hendrickson... -

I literally said that above... I never thought I would long for the days of Leslie Frazier... but this guy is an abomination... -
