Josh Allen and stop them at an equal level as they stop Josh and hope your Defense can force a few field goals every game as opposed to a TD every time... but there really is no thought to the defense actually stopping anyone from moving the ball unless they get a turn over... this is the worst Bills defense I have seen in almost 50 years... there were some in the 70s that were pretty bad too...

I think the answer is "we're gonna find out" LOL... that said... In a world where Beane signs 72 middling DL every season and none of them pan out to the extent we hoped (palpable improvement on the DL) what makes us think these two are different... especially if they are now off whatever they were taking LOL... my guess, they dont move the needle... my hope, is ogunjobi doesnt eat into the playing time of Deone Walker he is literally the one bright revelation on this defense... I am fine if he eats into John McCargo's errr I mean TJ Sanders time when he comes back. Hoecht might be an interesting rotational piece, not sure you can rush the passer worse than our newly extended QB repellant Rousseau i cant see him overtaking him just because of the contract.... to spell him and Bosa, sure, probably gonna eat into Epinesa and Landon Jacksons time... lets hope he is a mild upgrade... If he is the second coming of Leonard Floyd or Jerry Hughes back in the day... Home run... but I am not betting on it.

Let us go back to training camp... if I remember correctly, he was not lighting it up... he hadn't even made it to a pre season game... the last competitive football game he played in was Dec/Jan of 2024/2025... McD does not like rookies who don't know the defense, he seemed to be in that category... and he also needs to get into football shape and demonstrate he has recovered from what seems to be a pretty serious although not ominous knee injury... he also as a bit of a history at being injured... this all adds up to me as his impact will be quite limited thru the next few weeks at least... he will more than likely in my opinion be given simplified tasks.. like cover Worthy... where he goes you go... (if he is even activated by then) what concerns me most is the tackling responsibilities that our DBs are forced to take on because our front 7 is pretty horrific... will he be able to do that as I don't think he is known as much of a tackler... AND stay healthy... what does this mean... I don't think we have seen the last of Tre at least for a significant while...

It’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation about Taron

Agreed on it all... no cutting Oliver he has trade value... for the record i think he is absolutely here next year... just citing him as one of those that are paid at a higher level then they produce -

Schwartz for sure I would love to bring him back... I think if they fire Stefansk however, he may be next man up in Cleveland for head coach... -

I think there are others as well in the offseason that will go... we need to get our cap right... Daquon, Rapp, Samuel,Bosa, Milano, White, Knox, Hamlin, Trubisky to name a couple possibilities.. I could see Ed Oliver being used in a trade for an upgrade... -

Well if Bernard is the emotional leader I am not sure he shows the level of emotion he needs too... I would also say this year he is not leading by example... however, you are correct... the defense is woefully lacking in talent... when you combine that with poor leadership and a Defensive Co that is incapable... well you get the Defensive version of the Keystone Cops meets Wyle E Coyote going over a cliff...
-
Fair enough... I am just happy when my stress level goes from 15/10 to 3/10... lol...

I honestly I am on the fence with this one... but lets put it this way, if Beane is bringing in great players (FA Draft) and its McD not getting enough out of them then I wholeheartedly agree... I think there are a couple of examples (Poona Ford, Elam) that are doing fairly well with their teams... others just seem to twist out there... so, I am in chicken egg mode... I just know both of those positions need to be upgraded either by the current occupants or others... Maybe it is ok if Beane brings in a draft guru and McD brings in an elite defensive mind and a better OC... maybe not... but we are certainly gonna see this play out in the pretty short term here...
-
He doesnt have that for sure... he can only be a 1 man team for so long... I think further to that... even on the defensive side of the ball... is he in his head going, what TF are you guys doing.... like seriously... every one of your adds is like a disaster... and you do all of this... at the expense of getting me anyone to throw too... so I get what you are saying... I am not so sure I agree with you on the Payton thing, I think he really wanted to walk into a situation where you had a QB that would be good, not great but good for a couple years and he was trying to get his head back in the game... but to your point he did run him out of there on a rail.... so maybe you are right... With Allen... after being super hero for so long and having 2 lets call them poor games by his standard.. .I am totally giving him the benefit of the doubt here... but I do wonder...
-
I used the analogy on another thread... Beane plan is akin to using Fix A Flat 5 times on the same leaky tire... essentially at some point you need to replace the tire... His overspending on C players in FA and paying them like B+ players has killed us cap wise... his horrific drafting and inability to find star players on defense as well as WR is not the chemical mix you want... it is toxic... he needs to get rid of Babich at minimum, bring in a major defensive mind, as well as a draft guru to identify players as well as take a step back next year and clear cap space and reset this team... OR we need to get the next regime in here and that will become more painful... but your window with Allen is only so open... they need to do something quickly... if they continue on this path they will have wasted the entirety of a generational talent... and will not be remembered fondly... For the record, I do not see Pegula cleaning house with the Bills when he may have to do this with the Sabres... I am also confident that Pegula does not see it this way, he is the path of least resistance, I don't like change.... and I stick with the people I trust despite their obvious results kinda guy... I am rapidly moving to the fire McD camp... actually, I think I am there and just dont want to admit it...
-
Not gonna lie, I am not saying I disagree, but I am saying I am wondering... I remember Sean Payton going after Russell Wilson for the same thing... not that he is right or wrong, but I do think it is a thing... lets see how he adjusts and plays thru the season before I am convinced 1 way or the other... but it is something I ponder... he just got married, won and MVP and become a household celebrity... I think he has the grounded personality to handle all of this change but maybe he is adjusting to a new normal... I dont know...
-
I honestly will not disagree with you here... when we were getting to 4-0 he was yelling and screaming and all of that... but in these two losses because I think he played waaaay under his potential he kinda sat at the end of the bench all mad at himself and whomever else... he needs to regain that leadership swagger... so count me as a I dont disgree... but in the end.. he is the emotional leader and he has been a little absent.. and the people he is leading played like it in my estimation... but he is the one they are looking to.... JC can be a nice complimentary leader, so can Dawkins... but if you have DD or JC as the one that Josh and the rest of the offense are looking to for leadership, then we ultimately have issues...
-
Agreed, and Cook I think is a leader by example.. quiet yes.. but as he plays... he speaks.. lots of room for guys like that... very complimentary of JA... Dion Dawkins is another one I think is a solid leader... Knox is a bit more of a cheer leader... but thats fine... The Defense sweet jesus... this is a mess... Bosa is the only one their that i can see actually commanding the respect to do that... he needs to make more plays... unfortunately, the only plays really being made and blowing stuff up have been my him (save an interception by Bernard). I would like to think Benford would be a bigger leader but it seems like he got his contract and is happy, Same with Rousseau... like there doing their job at a C level... but really nothing inspiring ... Ed Oliver hurt and watching him got knocked on his a$$ by a running back was an interesting sight... like I get it but geez... thats a bad look... I also agree, some epiphany must happen this bye week or this is gonna be a mess of a season and we legitimately need to look to quickly reset and shed some of Beane's atrocious signings and redo this...
-
Sorry to be Captain Obvious... but Josh Allen is... we unfortunately do not have a defensive emotional captain at all... Like a Kyle Williams as I stretch to think would would have been an effective emotional leader after him... Maybe Poyer and Hyde... the result on the defense is obvious... they play like a lethargic, rudderless pack of looney tunes cartoon characters chasing a rabbit they wont ever catch... running over each other in the process... time to stop trusting the process... two other points you made I agree with.... Keeping Samuel or whomever over Hollins was a mistake... this guy to me is a greater than the sum of his parts example you put in a book I have started wondering if all of these commercials has started to erode JA17s focus... I am not saying it has... but it has happened to more than 1 player out there...
-
Now I can see the Jets doing this... for sure, highly unlikely Aaron Glenn goes after 1 year... they dont have a QB they invested 150mm in or whatever, like this would make more sense... but looking at Aaron Glenn on the sidelines... not sure he is ok with losing... but far more likely here I think than in Miami...

So I honestly cant think that is so... UNLESS they retain McDaniel and Grier after the season.... if that happens... then I am in your camp... if it doesnt, I cant see these guys getting fired and sacrificing their careers or at least damaging them to get the organization a pick they will never see... I dont think the players would do that per se... because a new GM is gonna come in and start wielding a hatchet... I just think they are a dysfunctional mess with Tua leading the dysfunction, calling out players and then sh(tting himself when he goes out to play... etc... losing breeds bad things.... underperforming expectations while losing breeds worse... doing it for so many years culturally, well that breeds the Dolphins as we see them... tanking requires an orchestrated plan... I would not give them credit for making a plan, I dont think at this point they are capable.... NOW... again, happy to be wrong here... if they go 3-14 and are getting the 1st or 2nd pick etc... and they run back McDaniel and Grier and Tua... then you are 100% on point... I just myself dont see that... but you never know...

Exactly, and then we wonder why our LBs and DBs are hurt constantly as well....

Challenge Spot, Spot Gets Moved, But LOSE Challenge ! ??
JP51 replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I aint gonna disagree with that.... just sayin... Ok so I am not disputing, but am wondering because I cant find it... QB throws pass, 15 yards... receiver catches it... for a first down... and lands on the 35 the official places it at the 37 ... coach challenges this because of the missed spot (like hey we want it closer in case we need to kick a FG) the coach challenges and they move the ball to the 35 because it was mis spotted... is this something that cannot be challenged because it didnt involve a new set of downs... or can the coach challenge the spot specifically without needing the line to gain because that wasnt in dispute... -
I was too young to remember but I heard my Dad and Uncle's bitc% about this for years as Dennis Shaw was throwing picks.... I am sure Deshaun can rub a few wins out of these guys... LOL

Tre White is damaging his legacy with the Bills and he needs to retire
JP51 replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh to me there is plenty of blame to go around... the answer to me is the talent level need to be better.. (Beane/McD), the defense needs to be updated (McD/Babich)... the execution, fundamentals, and basic housekeeping like lining up the right way on the 1st play of the game after you sh$t the bed in penalties the prior week and over all discpline, tackling, etc... Babich/players -

Brady has been unimpressive... babich on the other hand is simply incapable and incompetent... he should have been let go last year... they need a new defensive mind in here...
