I think Shakir has plenty of speed and ability for deep slants, posts and go routes. IMO, he's much more than solely a slot receiver. BTW, I think catch percentage will be a major factor when it comes to drafting now.....at least I hope so.

He is gonna have to use future pick(s) to do it but, we need a good haul of a young core this year. With a 3rd, we can use later rd. picks to move around...or to move around in the 2nd. We absolutely have to come up with at least one 3rd.

I'm not banking on some sell the farm trade. Maybe Beane plans on using that extra 2nd as well as next yrs. 1st to create some action in the 2nd and 3rd rds. That's why next years 1st is in play. It should get us an extra 2nd and 3rd this year, where BB can make hay. With at least a few teams with 2 2nd and 3rd rounders, now's the time to strike. Our 4ths and 5ths combined wouldn't give us a sniff of a 3rd. However, we could end up with ie: 28,41,60 and 88. Then those later picks could give us to wiggle room.

Like Latu getting poopooed and falling to us, maybe the same will work for us with Smith...( bit of an injury history etc.) Can you imagine getting Latu, Sweat and Smith? Young , solid core of intimidating DLine for years.
