  1. I've been wondering if keeping Cook out on passing downs might also be part of the strategy to keep him fresh. He's a shifty back so doesn't take too many square up hits where he plows into a LB or DT - more glancing blows. In pass protection, you need to square up, stand you ground and take on a LB or Safety with a head of steam, which can be a more violent collision. If actually out in the pattern not as much of a concern, but in pass pro it adds to wear and tear. And it's not a touch, so for fans it doesn't count but for the player it still is violence.
  2. sure wish we had 2 games left to play against them
  3. A fair price for Shaheed would have been a single fifth. This was an overpay for a guy like him. I did want him but I can see not paying that much. Plus if either Palmer or Davis gets back to full health we might not need him as bad.
  4. Anybody on the Commandoes worth pursuing? Their season is basically over with after losing Daniels. Scary Terry not a realistic option with the new contract he just signed.
  5. I agree. Really, going into Sunday I viewed this as a must-win for both teams. The Chiefs didn't win, and now they are 2 games behind Denver for the division. Yes, they can still sweep the Broncos since they play them twice, but if they split the two game they are very unlikely to win the division. And if we somehow end up in a tie breaker scenario with the Chiefs, we have that advantage too. Most of the pre-game hype focused on the regular BILLS-CHIEFS and ALLEN-MAHOMES angle, and not on the playoff picture as it stood on Saturday.
  6. It's not just that there are injuries, but when the injuries happen. In-game injuries are extremely hard to work around. Same goes for any late-season or playoff game injuries, even if they advance to the next round. If the backup has 3 or 4 games to ramp up before it really counts they can learn from their mistakes and maybe not be as good as the guy they replaced, but not so bad that they are a liability. As much as it sucks to lose Hoecht now, it would suck much worse to lose him in week 18. And lately for the Bills, we seem to have regular late-season or playoff in-game serious injuries.
  7. Pacheco leads the Chiefs with 329 rushing yards this season. Mahomes is second on the team with 280. Justin Fields leads the NFL QBs in rushing with 288 yards. Mahomes is second in the leage with 280. Today he had 5 yards rushing and also took 3 sacks. The Bills did a masterful job of keeping him contained.
  8. I don't think it's possible for them to have an "identity", where they run what they want to run every week and beat you with it. They need to change it up each week based on the opposition. "Everybody eats" shouldn't apply within a single game, it does apply across the entire season. One week it's Kincaid, another it's Shakir, another Palmer, another Coleman. Any given week somebody should be the primary focus, but it shouldn't be the same guy every week.
  9. One thing that might keep Bass on IR is I think there is a limit to the number of times a team can move a guy off of IR - I think that number is 8 but I could be wrong. Can't predict the future, but the Bills could have a rash of injuries at some point and might need every one of those moves before the season is out. If Bass is just as good as Prater, then Prater is just as good as Bass. So what are you gaining by bringing back Bass and dropping Prater?
  10. I remember after the Greatest Comeback game, Ralph Wilson mentioned a guy that was leaving at half time screaming at him about how he was going to cancel his season tickets after such a garbage loss. Ralph said he was going to find that guy and cancel his tickets for him.
  11. I mean, he did blow the chance to block a game-winning FG. They should be ready to dump him.
  12. I think George Blanda was 50 when he retired

  14. from PFF Pros Very quick first step for a player of his size Has a baseline for a variety of pass-rush moves Has the length to play 3-4 DE Hand usage is quick despite also very long length Good natural power in his upper body Cons Not a lot of weight in his lower half despite weighing 340 pounds — ankles/calves are skinny High-waisted build makes it tougher for him to sit in his stance with leverage/power Pops up quickly out of his stance

  16. Thought it would be interesting to list who the Bills get based on various mock drafts by the "experts". Here is what I've found so far. Of course a lot depends on who goes 1-29. NFL.com Eric Edholm - CB Trey Amos Chad Reuter - EDGE Mike Green Mike Band - S Malaki Starks Lance Zierlein - EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku Charles Davis - CB Maxwell Hairston Bucky Brooks - DT Kenneth Grant Daniel Jeremiah - DT Kenneth Grant The Athletic Beat Writers Draft - CB Jahdae Barron (pick by Joe Buscaglia) PFF Mason Cameron - CB Trey Amos CBS Jonathan Jones - CB Maxwell Hairston Ryan Wilson - S Malaki Starks R.J. 18. I think the Bills FO looked at 2024 as a rebuilding year. They drafted Coleman hoping he would grow into the role. Separation is a skill that can be learned. Coleman does have great body control, which is something that should be able to translate into doing the little things to shake off a player. Now he still has to learn that skill, and obviously hasn't mastered it yet. Davante Adams couldn't separate much early in his career either. At some point (I think it was after year 2) he decided he was going to buckle down and learn it, and he did. Lots of guys MIGHT be able to learn how to separate, but only some of them do. Just like lots of big strong armed guys with accuracy problems MIGHT learn how to be more accurate. Josh Allen did learn it, but not in his rookie year. Wil Levis has not learned it, and neither has Anthony Richardson. The potential is there for Coleman. But he has not realized it yet.
  19. Yeah, after the second attempt got stoned I was assuming there would be some kind of rollout or bootleg or RPO. That was clearly on the coaching, and that would be on Brady. Unless Brady suggested it to McDermott and Sean told him no, just keep doing the simple stuff.
  20. No way would I move on from McDermott.
  21. 35-3. And this game is OVER! and it is - for the Oilers. -Chris Berman
  22. Don't underestimate the importance of fantasy football in how people look at things. In my league Lamar out scored Josh by 77 points. Henry outscored Cook by 78 points. For a lot of people, that's all really know about football. And for those people, the discussion is over - Ravens are better. Frankly, if Jackson does get MVP, I think that is the biggest reason.
