Sean McDermott excited about calling the Defense
Einstein replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
So yes, the only evidence you’ll accept is McDermott admitting. Which will never happen again after the media flack he got for doing it the first time. -

They’ve asked him more than once lol. Your Argument: “trust me bro” No, I don’t trust you. I trust my eyes. Which has a better view of McD on TV than you have at the stadium. 90% of the season, there is no play sheet in his hands with him covering his mouth and talking. But at certain times, there are. And it’s clear as day he is calling the plays. -

It’s been clear several times. You not seeing it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. In several games, McD has the defense play sheet in his hand and is talking into his head set at pivotal moments of the game. Likely talking to Frazier who then calls the play into the team, ala Reid and Bienemy. 90% of the time, McD does not have the play sheet out, nor is he talking into the headset with the play sheet over his mouth. So it’s pretty noticeable when he does do it. But McD realized that after the San Diego game, when he got a lot of flack from the media (including Tony Dungy), for taking over the play calling, he was never going to admit it again. Which gives you plausible deniability. But no. McD absolutely called plays several times. Whether you and Gunner want to admit or not. -

If the only evidence you will accept is McDermott admitting it, then yes there is only evidence of 1 game. -

There is some evidence cd he did it more than once. But it’s true that he only admitted it once. -

This is the pivotal make or break moment of his career. For many coaches, firing their coordinator and taking over play-calling is the last ditch effort before they are let go.- 122 replies

Doesn't surprise me. Kelsay wasn't a sack machine. His job was creating pressure and pushing QB's into Schobel's arms. His point is that 1 player can be a massive outlier and you can't judge a GM based on 1 player. No other GM got as lucky as Beane got with 1 player. Yes, he gets credit for it, but we need to look at what else has done and one way to do that is to temporarily remove the outlier.

Sullivan said that in his exit interview (firing) that they (Buffalo News) mentioned to him that they had received pressure from PSE to oust him. I think he also said he was pressured by PSE to write less negative articles too. It really is awful, isn't it? I will never forget the Boston media laughing at our media over the soft lob questions. It was genuinely sad and made me feel a bit insecure about our hometown media and organization.

The 02 draft was not awful at all. It was average to above average. Denney, Reed, Wire and Williams.

Sounds like Beane.

In 2003 he took McGee, Kelsey, McGahee and Crowell. That was also a solid draft.

This should get the homers riled up

Florio raises an excellent question:
Einstein replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bengals will be more like 65% offense and 35% defense once Burrow and Chase get paid. Chiefs also just unloaded Tyreek and his huge contract last year. I’m assuming they were over 60% with Hill. The Bills 47% is well behind. -

Florio is a Vikings fan. Not a Patriots fan. He’s also one of the best reporters in sports. He rarely if ever pretends to know inside knowledge. He just gives his opinion. -

On defense… Bingo. This was Florio’s point. It seems to have flown over several people’s heads. -
You're a marketers dream. I'm not saying Pegula is a terrible person or anything, but your perception of him and the organization is from the marketing job they have done. They have done a masterful job of controlling the media. Everything from suspending a reporter because he mentioned the players that were practicing with the 1st unit in training camp, to McDermott cursing out a reporter before a practice for writing a negative article, to PSE getting a reporter fired for negative takes. Even WGR dares to say a negative word, as PSE controls the contract given for sports games with WGR. PSE runs Buffalo's media with an iron fist. It took a completely independent and non-local news organization (the Athletic) to publish information that many people around Buffalo knew about. Boston sports media has outwardly laughed at the softball questions our reporters give to our teams. Two sources even said that McDermott was concerned that the PSE culture would infiltrate and affect the Bills. From the article: “Toxic culture” was the most repeated phrase from those interviewed. They detailed being overworked because of continual downsizing while dealing with chain-of-command breakdowns, poor communication flow and interdepartmental disorder. “I used to feel proud to tell people I worked for PSE,” said a current employee. “Then there was a point I just had to force a smile when talking about my job. Now, when people ask me about openings, I tell them not to apply.” Two sources close to Bills head coach Sean McDermott say the January meetings left him concerned about low morale eroding the culture he and general manager Brandon Beane have cultivated over the past three years with a meticulous, holistic attitude." link

I’ve mentioned this before, but people are so stuck on defending anything the Bills do that they refuse to see the problem. We are spending nearly $1B in taxpayer money for a stadium, PLUS another $100M per year for renovations, PLUS we get downgraded to the smallest stadium (seating capacity) in the NFL, and there is no protection that i’ve seen, stopping a wealthy owner from doing a buyout and moving them. Its such a bad deal.

It wouldn’t shock me. Ive always been under the impression that Kim would be the full-time owner for the next 30+ years as Terry is in his 70’s. If Kim does not come back, that leaves the running of the tram to his children. Only 1 of which i’ve ever seen involved with the Bills in any meaningful way. How do we know him? How many times have you met him? I have only once. I don’t know him at all. Reporters likely know him more than fans do. We only see his public persona.

New stadium cost goes up from $1.4 billion to $1.54 billion.
Einstein replied to cba fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
As I said, that isn’t cash. It’s counting the new infrastructure (such as roads) required around new Walmart stores, employees getting public assistance, tax credits, etc. Not cash given to Walmart by the government to open stores. Not even remotely relatable to the nearly $1B in cash equivalent the Bills are receiving. -
UPDATED - v3.0 (FINAL) on p.13 - Gunner's 2023 Mock Draft
Einstein replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDuffie missed around 40% of the season due to an injury. Thats part of the reason the KC pass D was bad. But McDuffie himself was very good. It will take tremendous strides this upcoming season for Elam to even catch up to where McDuffie was last year. -
With those coaching staff, I don’t see it. We were decimated at CB last year and there were stretches where Elam struggled to see the field more than 1/3rd of the time.
