What is better, no guns, or more guns?
ArdmoreRyno replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
How do you fix evil? We have tens of thousands of gun laws on the books today in the United States. None of them stop someone who is determined to do harm to others. I continue to say it, Nice France.... a lunatic with a truck killed nearly 90 people and injured over 400. Evil found a way. 2016 in Sagamihara, Japan. Evil managed to kill nearly 20 people and injured another 25. Evil found a way. Criminals aren't going to register their firearms or go to a FFL to do a background check when they get a stolen gun off from a fellow gang member. 99% of gun owners aren't going to ever commit a criminal act with that firearm. Studies have shown that licensed conceal carry folk are even less likely to commit a violent crime than police officers. You can't punish someone like me, who served this country, because of a crazy 28 year old trans kid from Nashville. I'll also say it again, we can protect our children but we have to finance the schools. Do that before we finance a proxy war in Ukraine. $30-50 billion could go to do what my school has done.... invest in real security cameras, safety glass at the door, double entry at the entrance (you have to be buzzed into the main lobby, then buzzed into the hall. Only the front office allows people in and they look at the camera first. Resource officers. Allow front office workers to carry/have access to firearms with the proper training. As a former member of the military and competitive shooter, I'd go through extra training by LEO to protect this school. Etc. etc. The loon in Nashville stated she went after her former school over another school because the LACK OF SECRUITY. If a school was allowed to arm itself, that deterrence is MASSIVE. No school that has armed staff has had a school shooting during school hours. Ever. If you look at the past 20-30 years, the span that school shootings and even "mass" shootings have increased, so has the amount of psychotropic medications prescribed. We lead the WORLD in psychotropic medication used... anti-depressants, ADHD meds, etc. That number has spiked drastically over the past 20-30 years. Same span that we've seen these shootings occur. Coincidence? -

I have two home defense weapons... a suppressed 300 AAC blackout with 220 grain REX rounds and a suppressed Grand Power Stribog 9mm with 124 grain P-REX rounds. What is the cut off? Would opioids be a no? Marijuana a no? -

Trust me, I know. I work with substance abuse patients all the time. But you get my point? That question is “covering their bases”. I personally believe and hope the marijuana part will be removed at some point. I don’t use, but a lot of states have it legalized. No reason to lose your rights because you’re using THC instead of a dangerous benzo. -

No, I read it. I bet I’ve filled out 50 4473’s over my 30+ years of being able to buy a firearm. You test positive for opioids. Are you not allowed to buy a firearm? What if you take 1 a day for chronic pain? What if you take 30 a day? -

Of course they aren't. Should they be? -

You can do that with ANY firearm. Handguns were used in the worst school shooting in American history. A shotgun was used at Parkland. Kel-Tec .380 = slightly less power than the Glock 19 (which is a handgun) in 9mm (casing and powder amount is smaller). -

The media continue to report "AR-style weapons" were used. One appeared to be an "AR-22" which is a .22LR and one was a Kel-Tec .380, which is NOT an AR-style anything. It's a black gun. That's the only thing that is related to an AR-platform... the color. -

If you're a danger to yourself or others. You also can't sell a firearm to someone who wants to do those things. But in states like Mass, where my oldest is in college... if you've been committed to a mental health facility in the past 5 years for whatever reason, you aren't allowed to get a firearm. So it varies. No, it hasn't. It's still a mental disorder in the DSM-5 -

Huh? Your ex-wife reports you because she hates you so she says you have some type of "mental issue"... your 2A rights should disappear forever? LOL I'm a mental health counselor and I can tell you, you CAN lose your gun rights if you have 'certain' mental diagnosis or have been inpatient for certain reasons. You should NOT lose your gun rights for being just having a mental disorder. There are certain criteria involved and each state is different. -

The whole "arm brace makes a weapon more dangerous" thing is asinine. Those politicians who spew this BS need to be removed from office. -

Every school needs a SRO. We used to have one here at the school I work for, but we haven't had one for 3 years. Next fall, we are bringing one back (thankfully). As for the kid in Denver... I'm shocked he was allowed back at the school. We do threat assessments all the time with students and if they get to the point to where they need a safety plan, they are going home and doing their school work virtually. We aren't going to risk it. They CLEARLY should have done that with this kid in Denver. -

When are we signing Zeke?

#1 on the list should be Katie Noel. #2 Rebecca Black

The kid beauty pageant episode will leave you on the ground in tears laughing.

Okay, I take back my comment about her looks. Nasty... smoking cigs... shaped like a pear... no thanks. (Yes, I'm Shallow Hal)

No, but I live 10 miles from Lake Texoma. I am about 1/2 mile from what is called "Blue River", which is a fly fishing river (trout). I just have a pond on my ranch, bass and crappy.

Not a whole lost of weight. (I live about 90 minutes from Dallas, in the Oklahoma side of Texoma... Tishomingo)

Anytime the kids ask for something and when they don't get it, they whine. My typical reply: "People in hell want ice water... that doesn't mean they get it." (BONUS: Name the movie)
