  1. Pretty simple answer to his question, the idea of registering a firearm could lead to confiscation down the road. No one wants to admit, it's totally possible for our government to do this.. but look at the ATF and what they are doing to 'pistol braces' right now. It was 100% legal for years and years until they decided it wasn't. Now if you don't register it, you're a felon. Either register it or turn it in. Turn it in or go to jail? That's confiscation. No one is against background checks. We have those in place already, only private sales is where we don't and the thing is... even if we had private sale backgrounds... CRIMINALS WOULD NOT DO IT (I keep beating a very dead horse on this). That's where we are going round and round in the debate. Ultimately, this only has an impact on legal gun owners. People who commit crimes don't care about laws.
  2. How about we cut back the number of commercial timeouts? I get SO ANNOYED when I see the official come from the sidelines with the orange gloves to stop the clock for a damn TV timeout. Seems like they do it every 2-3 minutes!
  3. Texas has to turn it around at some point... there are NO excuses to why they can't be a top 5 program every year, even over OU. But the AD and President in Austin have been awful for a long time in regards to football. I continue to say it, if Oklahoma State can have winning season after winning season (last losing year was in 2004), there is NO excuse for Texas. Oklahoma State's run over the past (nearly) 20 years is pretty impressive even with my bias. No losing seasons, BCS win, solid bowl record, mostly all with 3 and 2 star recruits. Should be noted OU's losing bowl record is mainly due to playing in the CFP and BCS. Big XII the past 15 years: School Total Wins Losses Bowl record Losing Seasons 1. Oklahoma $ 155 43 7-8 1 2. Oklahoma State # 138 56 9-6 0 3. TCU* 134 58 8-4 6 4. Texas 116 74 7-4 5 5. Kansas State 114 76 4-7 4 6. Baylor 111 79 6-5 5 7. WVU 110 78 4-8 5 ** 8. Texas Tech 99 88 6-3 6 9. Iowa State 80 107 3-3 9 10. Kansas 42 137 1-1 14 $ 5th best record overall in college football # 10th best record overall in college football * in the MWC from 2005-2011 (all losing seasons in the Big XII) ** in the Big East prior to 2012
  4. I've driven past that thing 100 times and never stopped. My best friend lives right outside Catoosa in Claremore, I lived in Broken Arrow for a few years. BTW: There is a "Port of Catoosa" there which got millions after 9/11 for "port security" and people outside of Oklahoma got so pissed because they didn't understand why the government was giving money to a place in the middle of Oklahoma. They didn't know it's a huge transport port that can offload shipping containers.
  5. They did win a co-national championship with Princeton.... back in like 1869... when they were the only two teams playing college football
  6. Rock Cafe in Stroud, Oklahoma is a must stop for food. The writers of the movie "Cars" spent a lot of time in that place coming up with the script. (I'm from Oklahoma, never driven the whole Route 66) But it sounds like fun! Just make sure you don't leave the dog tied to the bumper
  7. 40 years ago... I was 8 years old. Probably playing with my Star Wars toys, watching GI Joe and waiting for Return of the Jedi to come out at the local theater. Going outside at 8 am and coming home at 8 pm after spending all day in the woods, building 'forts' and playing Army. Back then, parents would just tell us to get back before dark/dinner. I was also probably sneaking a peak at Risky Business and dad's Playboys when my parents weren't around
  8. The ones who have "survived" when I hit them, I always put them out of their misery (I carry my Ruger SR9c), which is better than letting them suffer in the middle or side of the road. Here (I live in Southern Oklahoma... lots of open wildlife and wilderness) a lot of deer will drink and eat from road ditches, causing them to be out around the highway more.
  9. Believe they are the #1 cause of vehicle insurance claims. I hit one just a couple of months ago on the local turnpike one morning going to work. Fog was THICK and it just came out of no where (managed to get out of the way enough it just clipped my Jeep). Did $3200 worth of damage. It was like my 7th deer I've hit the past 10 years here in Oklahoma. They get BAD from Oct to Feb.
  10. We actually have around the same number of deer in the United States as we had hundreds of years ago. It went on a step increase from around 1900-1950 but has gone down the past 20 years again.
  11. This is the same people (Gun Violence Archive) who count gang shootings as "mass shootings"? I'm posting links from the CDC. That's all. That's what I'll go with on information.
  12. Considering the data I posted is DIRECLTY from the CDC and their data ONLY GOES TO 2020, not sure what to tell ya. But keep HOPING firearms are the leading cause of kids deaths. Maybe if you gave a crap about gang violence being the reason most of the firearm deaths in kids happen...
  13. Now if you want to change it from "All races" to "black", it's once place where you see homicide is the leading cause of death for ages 0-19. Again, gangs.
  14. From the CDC website (2000-2020, ages 0-19). You can do this yourself if you want to see: https://wisqars.cdc.gov/fatal-leading Directly from the CDC: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0022437521000918
  15. Yep! And most of the "gun deaths" for children are GANG related.
  16. Leading cause of death of children 0-19 is "Unintentional Injury". Those are motor vehicle crashes, falls, fires and burns, drowning, poisonings and aspirations. In 2023, the leading cause of death for that age group is Covid-19.
  17. People like the professor at Marshall, are completely clueless. I'll never forget the last day we turned in our M16A2 at basic (Ft. Leonard Wood), we were in formation outside the armory. We did our typical "dry fire" to make sure the weapon was clear. Some idiot girl squeezed a round off. She was discharged that afternoon and not allowed to get back in. Military or CLEET ≠ good at handling a firearm
  18. And just because you're a veteran, doesn't mean you go through "months of *FIREARM* training". You can be a 92Y (supply, for example) and only fire a weapon in basic for a couple of weeks and then once a year to 'requalify". In basic, you'll RARELY ever see a sidearm (pistol) and will likely never handle one unless you're an officer. To think just because you served, you're 'weapons trained' is comical. I know plenty of people who I served with that SUCK at handling guns.
  19. If you want to say white supremacist or neo-nazi, go for it. But there are no more "Nazi's". Neo-Nazi's are wannabes. There are around 3,000 estimates "klan" members or people who align with their ideology today. There are around 1,100 total hate groups in the US today. We aren't talking about a huge number. You know, if we didn't give them any press? We wouldn't hear about them and they'd go away.
  20. Dude, the Nazi party is gone. They've been gone since 1945. It's make believe to say they are here today. It would be like calling someone part of the "Persian Empire" in 2023. It's long gone.
  21. 31% black population v 5% Dude, I take the Morgan Freeman approach. You want to end racism? Stop talking about it. Black history? American history. Why does there need to be a month about it? (all things he said)
  22. Higher minority rates, the higher the murder rate. Add in the poverty rate, you have your top 5 list.
  23. This was so freakin' stupid. The left and the media make this crap up to keep POC down and to scare them. If you looked on Twitter, no conservative or GOP'er had any idea what the hell this was... but the liberals sure loved pushing it! Let's keep saying things are racist so the country never progresses with race issues. Just f'ing moronic.
  24. Been watching the Netflix series off and on. Crazy
