  1. Need to hear from Beane about all this and see what the FO approach will be (i.e., if the Bills are willing, beginning in March, to negotiate a new deal for Cook). I don't think Cook will have strong trade value for the Bills given his salary demands and how RBs are currently valued. If the Bills try to negotiate or enter into an extension with Cook, it will be interesting to see how that impacts the approaches taken by Shakir, Benford and Bernard with their contract situations since they are similarly situated to Cook (free agents a year from now unless extended or tagged). If Cook gets an extension by being the squeaky wheel, why wouldn't they do the same, particularly since they have received less money than Cook over their first three years because they were drafted in lower rounds.
  2. I agree that there would not be a market for a trade (but would be if he was released at some point). I think the better bet will be that Beane asks Milano to restructure his contract by reducing his comp.
  3. The stuff about Coleman seems spot on. Certainly has been the case under Beane that we have not hit on a first round pick that is All Pro level other than Allen. I get it that we have been drafting very late first round, but we need to do better.
  4. Shakir would be my first priority, but that is a big number. Benford has been great, but as others have noted, if we move to more more of a man scheme, I am not sure he would be as valuable to the defense.
  5. For first round picks, Erik Flowers and Booker Moore were really bad.
  6. I don't think we would get a great return in a trade for Cook. Salary demands and the undervaluing of running backs will depress what we can get for him. Possible solution may be that he plays out his fourth year and we agree to not tag him (but leave the window open to negotiate a new deal). Franchise tag for Cook for one year would be too high and detrimental to our cap situation in 2026, so I don't think we would lose much.
  7. Isn't Knox more of a complete TE? Can Kincaid block?
  8. Really don't think Coleman will ever make us understand why the Bills took him over Worthy and others in the draft. I hope I am wrong.
  9. Fangio is MVP so far.
  10. Wasn't DeJean a second round pick? Could have had him instead of Coleman.
  11. Getting Garrett would be great, but I think we need a lot more on defense (two safeties and a starting CB).
  12. Both defenses seem to have a lot more overall speed than the Bills defense, particularly in the secondary. Our safeties and CBs are slow comparatively. Makes a difference when plays go wide. DeJean would have been such a superior pick to Coleman. What a shame.
  13. We have significant needs on defense. You can justify a point of view that we need starting level players at the following positions: DE (especially if Miller is not back), DT (Jones' play has declined and he is getting old), CB (Elam is a bust and Douglas' is a FA and his play declined this year), and safety (Hamlin is a FA and Bishop is a bit of an unknown at this point). The most significant hole on offense is at WR. Shakir is great, but we need help at WR, particularly with Cooper being a free agent and doubts that Coleman can develop.
  14. I like Beane, but we need to do better with he talent around JA. JA compensates for a lot of the inadequacies, but it is getting hard to not be concerned about about some of our drafting in the early rounds. Elam, Basham, Ford are busts and AJ and Kincaid have been somewhat disappointing. I also don't have confidence that Coleman will be a quality starter for the Bills. I get it that it is harder with where we have been drafting because of the team's success, but we need better because that will be one of the ways that we can get over the hump.
  15. Our assistant DL coach (Matt Edwards) is leaving the Bills to become the DL coach for the Jags.
  16. Although you never know until the season is in progress, our schedule looks really tough next season. No favors for us there.
  17. 47 years. Only NFL team for me.
  18. The teams are both really good and evenly matched. That certainly is the statistical story over the last number of years.
  19. With so many thing not going well, it was kind of amazing that we were in a position to win the game with three and a half minutes to go. Unusual that all of the following happened: Two critical plays ruled against us by the referees after the booth review when they both could have (and likely should have) gone in our favor Josh Allen not being able to get enough push to covert very short yardage situations Josh not being able to run effectively in general Kincaid not making a catch that would have potentially changed the outcome Groot falling a lot and/or losing containment Mahomes running for more yards than Josh (after no real rushing attempts in the regular season match-up where the Bills had a spy on him) Bills not converting two two point conversions KC not being stopped once in first half (other than the fumble) Losing Benford early in the game and then Elam being picked on and playing poorly Josh dropping a snap early in the game Coaching was a mixed bag, but much more in favor of KC. Defense did not play well, but there were some adjustments made at the half and KC did not run the ball effectively for most of the second staff and the defense did force a couple of punts and a field goal to put the game in reach for the offense. On the offensive side, great that we came out in the second half running the ball but then relied on the push play instead of Cook to convert third and fourth downs. Overall, we were outcoached, but we still were in a position to win the game. The Bills were just off on Sunday.
  20. Not sure I understand this post. Coleman played a lot this season and showed very little. Other posters have noted his deficiencies with separating and it will be interesting to see if he can improve, I have my doubts. Elam has had every opportunity to be a starter, even in his first year. He may not be a fit for the Bills defensive system, but his play has been poor and I don't think he would do better in another system.
  21. Need some better talent in spots next year: 1. Coleman has not shown that he should be on the field. Still need at least a #1 WR. 2. Elam should not be playing in any situation. Probably will need at least two new corners next year, one to start and one to be in reserve for Bedford and the new starter. 3. Doubt Miller will be back and we have a need for a stud DT (hard to know how much D. Jones has left) and DE. 4. Likely need a starter at one of the safety spots. Not sure if Bishop has shown enough to be a starter next season.
  22. Not sure why Coleman was getting so much playing time (in the game and during the season). Really did not show enough to have earned that.
  23. Our secondary is bad, particularly without Rapp and Benford. We can see why Elam has not been active in some games.
  24. Seems like New Orleans is the one remaining head coaching spot that we should be most concerned that Brady would take given his history with New Orleans and LSU.
  25. Is this first time that we know of that Benford is in the concussion protocol?
