Steelers vs Ravens. Who are we rooting for? Both have tough schedules ahead. -
11/17/24 Game 11 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Chiefs Gameday Thread
Zag20 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Chiefs being 5-0 in Land Clark games is a big nothing burger for a team that wins 4 out of 5 on average anyway. -
The chosen one is looking unchosen

The head ref should probably just be sitting in front of a monitor and not even on the field. This requires one extra guy per crew, I suppose. Most terrible calls/non calls could be fixed in seconds by simply watching the TV broadcast. I say this with a caveat. I think the officiating is generally pretty good and it’s a very difficult job. But with all the angles and super slo mo, the burden of proof is greater now.

How do we separate the head referee from any particular member of their crew? Like there could be one member of the crew who sucks, it the head ref has to call everything on the TV set. Seems pretty hard to pin bad calls on a particular ref, doesn’t it?

The decision to go for the FG - right or wrong?
Zag20 replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every team in the league should have a kicker they’re are at least confident attempting a 61 yard FG with. And it appears we have one. -
The obvious litmus test is if every single person watching the game, literally millions of people, can see within 10 seconds of the play being over that it was a bad call, the call should change. The penalty on Dawkins was inexcusably terrible. It could be argued that that was the best blocking rep of all time. The DE got schooled and fell on his face.

THE COOK…IS COVERED IN CRISCO!!! -
Yeah it was Smoot and he hilariously acted like it caused an injury. You can see it on the broadcast after the penalty was called.

I was at the game. Tons of fun and lots of opportunities for Chris Brownism’s on the radio broadcast. Any highlights? -
Does his hat say “golf club”?

Week 8 - Bills at Seahawks Game Week Thread
Zag20 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, Richard Sherman was offside on the FG attempt but no whistle was blown, so he played through it, swatted the ball and then blasted Carpenter in the knee. The officials then called only a 5 yard penalty and announced that Carpenter would have to be taken off the field for one play because his injury caused a 4th time out. The Bills then tried to spike the ball to then bring Carpenter back onto the field to kick the field goal, but then they got called for a delay of game after he attempted to re-enter the game, he hit the field goal, but it was ruled to have been after the play Clock had expired so they had to kick it again, and then he missed it. At the end of the game, Richard Sherman, the offender on the field goal play, completely tackled, Robert Woods on a pass play, but it was apparently legal because the quarterback was out of the pocket. This was a rule I had never heard of up to that point, and have never heard of since. -
Week 8 - Bills at Seahawks Game Week Thread
Zag20 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven’t read this whole thread, but does anyone remember what happened the last time the bills came to Seattle? It was 2017 I think. I was at the game. It was one of the most poorly officiated games I can remember. -
Does the (possibly pretend) “hop drop tackle” rule apply on a sack? Because that sack on Purdy is about as textbook as you can get.
