  1. Reporters were annoying the entire press conference. Constantly trying to get Beane or McD to say something negative about Matt or the accuser. The Bills judged these items to be accusations, they had not reached the point of charges, they did just as much review as any other team in the league, they talked to Matt about this, and they made the decision to move forward. Does that make them perfect? No. But reporters almost complaining that they didnt reach out to the accuser when there weren't charges is a joke. Media looking for a story instead of reporting the one in front of them. Beane sounded genuine to both Matt and the accuser. It screamed to me "We told Matt if he is truly innocent, go figure this crap out and we will follow the results of the case accordingly". Fair play to the Bills for handling this with class and precision.
  2. I think most star QBs on big contracts would pay 5 million a year to get 11 games off.... Suspension seems about right, but $ fine is too low. Needed to make it closer to 15-20 million, especially since he will be making 46 A YEAR. Shoot, if you asked me to take 10% less to work half the year? I'd sign up in a heartbeat.
  3. The most interesting thing about camp vs. in game - the Bills defense is difficult to gameplan against. We have ALWAYS had success against passers who 1) are not elite athletically and 2) Cannot process defenses extremely quickly. We FEAST on sub-par QB play. The only games we lost last year due to strong QB play were to Brady and Mahomes. I feel for Tua, Wilson, and Jones. They simply dont have the talent to effectively manage against this defense. If our offense is AVERAGE in game, we go 6-0 in division. Maybe 5-1 if we have a stinker
  4. Guy cant read defenses and tucks it down. Allen was like that too as a rookie, but usually QBs that can't make reads and are too conservative never last. You can't build consistency through them.
  5. This patriots offense just doesn’t look dynamic in any way. At least their run game looked aggressive and creative over the past few years. But their current looks are basic and ineffective. I know it’s game 1 of preseason but jeez
  6. Wish Josh took the football, signed it, and walked over to another kid to give it to them instead. just so dumb
  7. Might be the best thing for the NFL that he didnt settle - let's them try to appeal with the whole book thrown at him instead of a settlement that would leave no one happy.
  8. Im out of touch on the legal processes, but could the NFL appeal and keep the case in limbo for another year through the courts so Watson couldnt play? Trying to think if there were any appeals processes that would create a situation where Watson couldnt play while the appeal was active.
  9. I’ll be interested in how the Bills handle this. Cover1 has in my opinion the best coverage on the details of the game. Thad as a media guy posts tweets with his opinions, and asks some basic questions, but I don’t think his football knowledge is greater than what is shown through a Cover1 breakdown or podcast. id like to see the bills embrace Cover1 and credential them to put some heat under the rest of the media
  10. I find nothing wrong with a guy coming in being confident in what he can do (confident, not cocky). If he can be a productive player - great
  11. I find it funny that they use a simple quantitative equation, pair it with a 2 variable analysis, add their own thoughts and opinions on top of it all, leave our core variables, and come off as some intensive statistical breakdown and analysis.
  12. And, when those snaps come through will be important - you know Von will have opportunities to make impacts early in the game, in red zone situations, and in critical times (2 minutes to half, 4th quarter in close games). Do I think he plays on every 1st and 10? No. Does he play 65% of snaps this year and 85%+ in "critical" situations? I think so
  13. I took some time to understand the analysis, I think they are missing a lot of key context around roster construction (which they did say they were omitting) and nuance from year to year. Looking at the list, coaches I would immediately put beneath McD are: Kingsbury - had a 5-9 first season where they bottomed out, then brought in Kyler and Hopkins. Were average two seasons ago (and fizzled out at the end of the year), and slightly above average this year, with a slew of offensive weapons and a 1st overall rookie QB at the helm. Pete Carroll - he was great in the mid 2010s, but man has his team struggled over the last few seasons. He had a top 5 QB the entire decade, but his defense is what has struggled. Just poor design and execution. Frank Reich - Hasn't had a season about 11 wins, in potentially the easiest division in the AFC. Carousel of QBs aside, I just havent seen enough wins when it has mattered to push him above McD, who has made the AFC Championship game and playoffs in 4 of 5 years Mike Mccarthy - Was fired from GB recently, took a Cowboys team loaded with talent (their roster was very strong last year) to a 12-5 record (which is what should have been expected with that roster and in that division) and lost in the WC. Nobody looks at Mccarthy as a coach who elevates the roster currently. Brandon Staley - simply not done enough. 9-8 is a decent record, but top 12 coach? Needs more time Nick Sirianni - Limped to a 9-8 record (similar to McD in his rookie year as HC) but was blown out by Tampa. Wasn't even a close matchup. Needs to show much more Doug Pederson - Had one great year, with Nick Foles running Reich's inventive offense. Has been average to below average every other year, and was fired recently. That puts McD right around 10th with Tomlin, Vrabel, McVay - where I think he should be. Playoffs in 4 of 5 seasons, elevated the results of a completely dysfunctional organization in Year 1. Competitive defense all 5 years, brought in a slew of coordinators who have moved onto promotions, and has improved his own coaching ability year over year. To me he is right there with Vrabel, if not slightly ahead.
  14. I bought two, both arrived this past weekend. Nice quality. A little tight for the size but not a full size smaller imo
  15. Allen with his throw power and athleticism was already OP last season. The reason his rating wasn't low 90s was just that Madden for some reason lowered his awareness to below average QB. If they move that stat alone up to above average, he will be a 92-93. If they up his athleticism and accuracy, then he will be 94-95. Much deserved.
  16. Awesome - love the two way support the teams and community have. Brings a bit of joy in this dark time.
  17. I'd say more than anything its weather. Yards are down when he plays at home. That's likely due to the wind causing more run heavy offenses. Singletary had 160 more attempts last year at home compared to on the road. Look at Josh's running splits - averages the same yards per rush. Completion % is down due to playbook and needing to throw less. 318 attempts in 8 games on the road vs. 254 at home (in same # of games). Yards per attempt down .6 as well. Go figure, its challenging to throw in Buffalo - but we have a QB who can still be good when doing so, and can run whenever he needs.
  18. Thats giving me a red delicious and a granny smith and telling me they taste the same. 1) If I have had several years of my team "under-performing" even if Ive been at level or average at my job, I can EXPECT they bring someone in to challenge me. 2) Tanny is 33. Most starting QBs are done by what... 35? So if I'm 60 planning to retire at 65 you bet I'm expected to train someone/take them under my wing 3) Companies bring interns and entry level hires all the time to fill roles with the expectation of growth. So if you want to compare it to the corporate world... again training is an expectation. 4) No one is asking Tanny to give up reps with the first team and saying "no coach, let Malik take these snaps because he is the future". But are they wanting him to help Willis in the film room, or maybe with some of the transitional aspects from college to the NFL? Absolutely. Just like I would coach a new hire about our company specific policies or maybe point them in the right direction when a small project or ask is put in front of them for the first time. 5) "We're paying this guy a fraction of what you make" You are ***** right they are - because I've been around the block and Ive earned more pay. Tanny makes starter money because he is the starter. He doesnt make elite money because he ISNT ELITE. If the expectation is that Tanny want to secure a role where there are no questions about the short term starting role, be better. But, at 33, he should be looking to take the next natural step - platoon starter who will train the new talent and he can make 15-20 million a year for another 5-7 years. I could go on but you get the point
  19. This team absolutely needs some outside depth. Carrying 6 WRs with Diggs, Davis, Crowder, Mck, outside rookie, Kumerow would be at least decent. I wonder if they try to target a 3rd/4th year guy in a trade. Someone who was a decent draft pick but hasn’t shown quite enough for their original team
  20. The ability to line up two back two te and have 5 decent route runners is a pain to defend against. Motion cook in and out of the backfield and he will eat
  21. Drafting talent and developing talent are two different things. Johnson fell and some teams had a dont draft or 2nd round grade on him. Does Wilson become Justin Jefferson or Jalen Reagor? Now its on the coaches to properly develop these players, and the team still has a plethora of holes. Jets had I believe a strong first round - they are still 2-3 years away from even competing for the playoffs.
  22. We certainly need another skill player. I remember when everyone wanted the Bills to take Metcalf early, and we waited and came away with Gabe Davis. I trust Beane to find a mid round WR who plays meaningful minutes for us this season
  23. Elam is a better press zone corner than man. He is going to learn a ton from McD. Tre is one of the best tackling corners in the league. Elam has character, measurables, AND on field performance.
  24. Beane hasn’t been afraid to say things like that to prove his point. Beane don’t mess around - they wanted Elam and made the deal to get him. He is making that clear to the media and fans
