We need to keep Bates. I'm amazed by the amount of people on here doubting him, think we can just draft a guy and plug a rookie in and be fine. It's extremely hard to hit a home run in the draft. Bates is a solid starter at guard or C right now and I believe has the ability to get better. The fact that he didn't start sooner is not his fault, that's on the coaches. The way he performed last year showed that he should've been starting at G a lot sooner than he did. Hope Beaner has a plan to retain him.

I wanted them to kick it short of the end zone but when they kicked it for a touch back I was ok with it. Then I lost my mind with the D that was called in those 13 seconds / 2 plays. That's why we lost the game. If Mahomes earned those 45 yards I would've tipped my cap to him but he didn't, we gave it away. What we called on D, Mahomes could've beat blind folded.

Good - I thought the offensive play calling was decent in this one except for..... the Bad- why don't we run Mc-Z on the jet sweep more often!? I don't understand it. Get the ball in his hands more. That play has rarely been called all year. It worked almost every time we ran it last year.

Not having Bates on the field more often in the last 2-3 years has been a mistake. Hopefully they realize it and Bates is starting today.

Hope all is OK with the big guy and to see him on the field Sunday, we need him no doubt about that.

Bates hasn't gotten the opportunity to play over the past 2 years so it's difficult to say. But if you watch the tape (each play) from Sunday and compare our 2 Guards from the game - Williams and Bates, who played better?....Bates did, trust me I've watched it and it's not even close. Is Bates better than Williams? Not saying that from one game, but I know he played better Sunday. Give him another start, lets see what happens.

Bates should have been a starter for the last 2 years! He's our best guard on the team. I'll take him over Feliciano, Boettger and Williams at G. Leave Feliciano on the bench as the backup G/C. Bates deserves to be on the field.

D played OK B-. We're obviously weak against the run. We need Star in there, or a run stuffer that can stay on the field.

....which I was happy to see, but where has it been this year? In other games this year when Mc-Z dressed it hasn't been called. It's a great play to sprinkle into our play calling.

Mc-Z was awesome yesterday. He was open all day, made some huge clutch plays....and that jet-sweep play that worked so well last year, why haven't we used it this year?? Keep Mc-Z in the lineup and give him the ball!

Below is my post from 10/26 talking about Bates. I've been talking about Ryan Bates for 3 years now. I don't want to hear any BS from our coaches about "he's more valuable as a backup due to his versatility". Especially since even when Morse got hurt last year they put Feliciano in at C!? Our coaches have missed managed Bates, he should be starting every week. Not saying Sunday was all due to Bates as each player on the OL stepped it up....but I was keying in on Bates almost every play, he was a definite upgrade. I'm a big fan of Dane Jackson. Media is saying we really missed Tre and that's why we got carved up by TB, especially in the first half. Of course we're better with Tre but Dane played great. He's a solid starting NFL CB2 all day. Brady had success due to a lack of pressure by our front.

I'm with most of the group here, the OL is the bigger issue. No doubt. That being said, I'd like to see Williams get a chance. What's the worst that can happen?

I agree, that's why I said it was a tough throw and he needed to make a great throw to complete it.

All out blitz, pressure on Josh...it was a tough throw but if he actually makes a great throw to Davis he could've lofted it over the undercutting DB. Josh under-threw and shorted it, had no chance.

I've been tough on Cody Ford lately but he wasn't the issue last night, he played pretty well from what I could tell. Dawkins was bad last night, the weakest link on the line for sure....and his mistakes weren't related to LG play, he got burned and pushed around all night. Hope he bounces back next week

Exactly, whenever he gets in I feel like he plays really well. I'd like to see Dawkins, Bates, Morse, Williams, Brown. I'm not saying we're going to dominate with that lineup but I think it's the best option we got for now.

I agree our O-line hasn't been great. My point though was Brown/Williams on the right side are at least an improvement from Williams/Ford.... also, give Bates a shot at LG.
