  1. You make good points but I think Brohm needs a shot. Farve, Testeverde and many others had rough starts in the NFL. I can see us going into camp with Edwards, Fitz, Brohm and a rookie. If we pick up a veteran FA then I would think Edwards or Fitz is out. Brohm is still an unknown. I am glad we have Gailey trying to figure this out rather than a first year HC with no experience. This is a big problem and it has been since Kelly left.
  2. Philly would probably jump at Lynch and a 2nd. I think that is a bad deal for Buffalo. Buffalo should NOT trade any picks in the top 4. McNabb's leadership has always been in question. Most of the Eagles players want him out. I prefer to pass on him and draft a QB. We can maybe pick up a Pennington-type of vet to help groom a rookie.
  3. We should be able to bring in some mid-tier players that can help and not hit our salary structure too hard. If we are really going to play a 3-4 we better find a decent NT and we should get a FA and draft someone just fopr that. I don't see anyone on our roster to play that position.
  4. Good points by you for sure, and on top of all that is a fan base that would rather follow the Gators.
  5. The housing bust is not the real problem with the Jags. In your example those houses are only worth $150K if you sell them. If you stay put you ride out the market. Now, if you are so heavily leveraged and can't make the payment .. then you get killed. The issue with Jax is that it is college football country. People would rather go to Gainesvile and watch the Gators then spend $ on the Jags. Expanding to Jax was always a curious choice IMO.
  6. "young players" and "cold weather? I think not. You forget the main reasons --- conditioning, awareness, toughness and mostly just plan bad luck.
  7. Why is it people were OK with signing a head coach with no head coaching experience (Frazier, Grimm, Shotty-Jr, Rivera, etc.) yet they complain about position coaches from college or first time coordinators? I like what is happening with Buddy and Chan so far. Very pleased with the new Asst GM as it looks like they are addressing the vacancy from John Guy and planting seeds for the future. Long way to go. It is really all about bringing in good players. I hope Buddy and Chan can keep Russ and Ralph out of the football side of things.
  8. So you want to start two rookie tackles AND a rookie center AND a rookie Guard? This just one season after we started two rookie gaurds and a LT that played one game in entire career before the season ever started? On top of that you want to bench one of last years rookie gaurds for Simmons - a seventh round project? WOW!! Did you go to the Dick Jauron & Russ Brandon School of Footabl? I agree that we need to draft more lineman and I sure do want to see us grab an OT in the first few rounds but I expect to see both Levitre and Wood (if healthy) starting again next season. I also think Hangartner will be the center unless Incognito is re-signed and pushes Wood to center. Dont forget about Butler or Bell at tackle.
  9. I heard TO say that. And that equates to how many catches?
  10. Hardy Schmardy. He simply does not work hard and he does not remember the plays or the hot reads. Same issues with him now as BEFORE the draft. Chambers is done. I would rather give reps to Stevie Johnson. Nelson looks like a keeper.
  11. Come on. Marv was a coach not a reluctant GM. He never wanted that job and he left it early.
  12. Saban ran in the AFL days too. Saban won with the first 1,000 yard back in the AFL, Cookie Gilcrest.
  13. Tough call between Lou and Marv. Lou won and he kicked butt and his numbers stand up. He also quit on us twice. Levy stayed the course and was consistent. BTW ... the team that lost to KC was really on the decline due to injuries. I doubt they would have beat the Chiefs, even with Lou.
  14. The article is poorly written whether you agree with him or not. He said nothing to prove Clausen to be a compelling pick. I want an impact player to be taken at 9. McClain is a possiblity. I know you think LBs are not as important. I watched McClain play in the tough SEC and he was dominant. I saw Clausen play at ND. He has the physical tools but he plays like an average guy.
  15. Hard to say but two good back to back drafts will really help. The key is finding a QB.
  16. Two Hall of Fame players! Plus Riech who won many keys games for us in the glory years. Other Players of note: Derrick Burroughs was developing into a very good corner until he got injured. He was better than Kirby Jackson and would have been an excellent tandem with Odomes. Hal Garner was an excellent special teams player and a good backup LB. Better than what we have today. Chris Burkett was a good reciever. He did not get along with Jim Kelly and was shipped out. He had a very good career for the Jets after that.
  17. Please recalled that he Bills under Tom Donohoe and Marv/Brandon tried the same model you reference above. It didn't work. Polian has a knack for finding good players in all rounds, including undrafted rookies and low priced free agents. Hope Buddy can do the same.
  18. 2b) Do not forget that Ronnie Jones had a connection to Wade's kid, who was playing QB at a college that Ronnie was involved with. His hiring was payback for a favor. I say NO to Ted Cotrell. I do not see that happening.
  19. I agree. Talk to people around the US and you will fing the Pats are hated. The arrogance of Belicheck and Kraft. The obnoxious fans with their horrible accents. The spygate stuff. The strange calls that always go their way. The Pats* are more hated than any team in recent history. More than the Cowboys because the Cowboys are also loved by lemmings all over the country.
  20. I agree with trading down if, when we get to #9, there are reasons to trade down. For example, if we have several players graded the same and it is likley that we will get one of them on a trade down, then why not do it and collect another pick? Can't remeber the last trade down? Trading to move 1 or 2 pots is usually costly. We traded up for Losman and McCargo, both times reaching to fill positions of need. Both times we struck out.
  21. How did you dream up this scenario? Nevermind.
  22. You just summed up the problem that we have had for 10 years. Donohoe, Levy, Brandon and Jauron have all had a hand in this.
