  1. Agree. Among the mid tier/ lower cost free agents we can find some veteran edepth and leadership. Two areas that this team is sorely lacking. I remember that the Pats* signed a bunchof these kind of free agents the year they won their first Super Bowl.
  2. I am ready to move on and give him a chance. Bring in some good players Buddy.
  3. If you want to believe every rumor on espn, the internet, or twitter then that's your problem. How does anyone really know how Buddy conducted the search. Give him a chance. Conspiracy theory? ... board survey??
  4. Could this definition have also applied to: Marv Levy, or Gruden, or Bellichek, or Shotty, or Vermiel, or Holmgren, or Dungy, ....?
  5. I remember rooting for the Jets and Joe Namath in SB IV. Back then it was for pride in the AFL. The Jets were division rivals just as they are today but everybody in Buffalo wanted them to win. I don't like the Jets during the season and I especially have no use for NY & NJ fans. What I do like is how the Jets have been built. They are an old school team. They run more than they pass. They have a strong defense. Their OL is awesome and allows a rookie QB to hold up under preassure. Their coach has absolutely convinced them that they CAN win! Great story here. I see the Jets on the rise and the Pats* falling.
  6. agree. I think the road to respectability for the Bills should be a similar path to the Jet. I envy the OL that the Jets have. That line gives them a chance to win and to develop Sanchez. First you have to build the OL to enable a running game and to give you a prayer at developing a QB. We need a punishing OL with a power fullback and a strong TE. We play half the season in cold windy weather and 2 of our 3 divison foes have the same weather we do. We should be a running team first. I don't know why Donahoe, Levy, Brandon, etc., didn't see this? You then build a physical defense. Defense still wins in the NFL. Lets get some nasty players on the front 7. The Super Bowl Bills of the 90's had a big and talented OL that won games in bad weather. This group was largely responsible for the sucess of our "skill" players, several of which are in the HoF. On defense we had Smith, Talley and Bennett ... have have no players of that caliber today. Build a team to match the city, the stadium and the weather. Blue collar tough.
  7. They made moves but the organization is still unclear. 1 - Promoted Buddy Nix to GM. GM is a position that have not had in years. It is basically the position to run the entire football side of the business. 2 - Moved Brandon to President of Operations. Essentially this puts him inbetween Nix and Wilson. He will handle everything except football decisions (hopefully). His biggest job is keeping Ralph happy and away form Buddy and the new coach -(hopefully). Potential Change 3 - The staus of john Guy, Director of Pro Personel, is still undetermined. He is still under contract but for how long? 4- The staus of Tom Modrak, Director of college Scouting, is so far unchanged. I think this is good. I do not blame him for the drafts. His job is to provide the data, rank the players and advise. The GM should be responsible for making the selections. we have not had a GM since Donahoe. The Marv/ Brandon/ Ralph/ Jauron/"Inner Circle Thing" was a huge failure that is largley responsible for problems we are having today getting top coaching interest. 5 - Jim Overdorf - Still responsible for cap management and contracts. 6 - Millie the secretary - Fired. Ralph never liked her coffee very much.
  8. The Jets would have punted on 4th and 1 if the ball was deep in their zone.
  9. He would have had to. His end around on 2nd and 9 would have lost 6 yards.
  10. I called this as a 4th down possiblity. Turner did not think of all options. If they were deep the Jets would be punting.
  11. But now the Jets are in 4 down territory on a 4th and 1. Ryan is a gambler and he will challenge his #1 running game.
  12. Very high kick but only one blue shirt on the play.
  13. Nice job by Rivers getting his team set and running a quick count QB sneak. The Jets were not set for it.
  14. Last season we were a HC, LT and QB away from 10 wins and the playoffs. We might have done it with any 2 of the 3.
  15. Rex Ryan had no problem getting the red flag out off his pocket and onto the field.
  16. Your right. We are so used to havinga poor OL and no QB that maybe we forget what its is like to play offense properly.
  17. Jim Leonard having a good day. I recall him being abused here. Then he went to the Ravens and many said he was only good because of the Raven defense. Now?
  18. I have been out of WNY since 1982. I go back about 4 times a year on average, more on some years. I attend at least two home games a year. I agree with your assessment. Most of the inferiority complex comes from within Buffalo. There is a lot of frustration there over the economy and a local government that can't do anything right. I love the WNY area a lot and would move back if the career plans allow it.
  19. Welcome. Nice post. I noticed the same thing about April, Fewell, and Kugler. I think our secondary coach did a good job too and expect him to be picked up by someone.
  20. Yes. Your right. This coaching search is kind of like watching the stock markets. You want to know what is going on but if you read and react to everything that is said on each day it will drive you crazy.
  21. No way in the top 3 because there are so many, but it was a poor decision for sure. I do know that losing Polian is the top #1. Running off Chuck Knox is also up there. Bringing in the Marv/ Brandon duet after Donahoe is another. Having no GM after Marv is yet another. Then there is the Butler fued, the attempt to not pay Wade Phillips, the Johnson/Flutie interference ... the list is long. We can spend hours on bad player decisions ... Trading Lamonica in the 60's, drafting Patulski, Rudd and Nelson in the 70s, not signing Rashad in 70's ... again a ponderous list. By the way ... all franchises have regrets like this. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Go Bills!
  22. I will take top talent over a big name coach any day. The Bills of the 90's made Levy, thre Cowboys made JJ, etc. Look at Joe Gibbs second term with Washington .. he had few pro Bowlers compared to his glory days. These guys are all excellent coaches but you need the horses to win. The coach brings in the game planning, game management, team discipline and the attitude ... something Jauron fell short on, as did Greggo. Frazier has been on the shinning star list for a long time. If nix can bring in some players and Frazier will be fine.
  23. How about Berkshire Hathaway and it is worth much more than a billion. The Bills are not worth a billion, last estimates are ~$800k. I would not be surprised to find that many of the Board of Directors of huge corporations have board members in their late 60's and 70's. These "old people" are the bosses on the CEO.
