I’d agree he didn’t look like himself but his ACL recovery seemed pretty slow as he missed over 1 year in total. It wouldn’t surprise me if he takes a while to get back to form. I know not sometimes players don’t fully recover from an ACL until year 2. Let’s hope that’s the case with Tre

Jim Johnson was McD’s mentor. Where’s his defense?

it didn’t help that the offense scored 10 points -
Buscaglia: Both Bills Coordinators are likely to be back in 2023
JohnNord replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is so true. It’s funny to see fans demand McDermott to get fired or say next season is “Super Bowl or pink slip.” Do they understand who owns this football team? Between the Bills and Sabres Terry Pegula has had a hellish experience with head coaches and General Managers. Coaches either embarrassed with their antics or with their teams poor performance. The way that a coach/GM operates is very important as well. This is why Adams/Granato we’re re-signed this past offseason despite failing to reach .500. He liked the way they ran the org. Thats is why I believe Pegula will be reluctant to fire Beane and McDermott unless the season really goes sideways. McDermott is pretty much the second most powerful man in the organization with Beane as a distant third. While they haven’t won championships, the W-L record is one of the best over the past three seasons. Not only that but Terry admires and respects their character and how classy and organized both leaders are. He’s not going to fire either unless it gets to a situation where the team just consistently isn’t winning. -

Yeah he would be showing a lot of faith in both coordinators. Still I don’t think he’s under as much pressure to win a Super Bowl as most fans want to think -

The season just ended Sunday. It took a few week before the Bills fired… I mean before Heath Farwell left to coach Jacksonville. So there’s still a chance -
Buscaglia: Both Bills Coordinators are likely to be back in 2023

To be fair though, he had the same starting 5 last season and they seemed to regress. Not sure if that’s on him but our like played worse this season -
https://theathletic.com/4128667/2023/01/26/buffalo-bills-offseason-coaches/?source=user_shared_article I know a lot here don’t have a subscription to the Athletic so here’s how Joe Buscaglia analyzed the coaches. While fans have wanted some changes after the bitter playoff exit, positional coaches aren’t likely what many had in mind. However, as of now, it appears both of the primary coordinators are poised to return in 2023. Ken Dorsey: The Bills offense has looked disjointed this season despite scoring points. Dorsey will likely be back as he has support from Josh and Beane. Also Beane talked about “year two” in his press conference which he otherwise would not do if there were plans to move on. Looks like Dorsey is safe but if he’s back in 23, there is a ton of pressure to produce. Leslie Frazier: Mentions there is heat on Frazier after the playoff loss, but that he was missing a key starter in Jones. With injuries to Hyde, Miller and White, the Bills defense still finished 4th in DVOA. He also puts players in positions to be successful. Unless he wants to retire, Frazier will be back for a 7th season. Joe Brady: The Bills really like Brady but he’s been getting some OC calls which he may pursue. If Brady comes back, he’s a prime candidate to take over for Dorsey. Aaron Kromer: The Bills OL had a terrible year and it wouldn’t surprise Joe to see the Bills move on from Kromer. Bobby Babitch: A future star in the building with DC potential. If Frazier leaves he can see him taking over. Joe didn’t touch on any other coaches…

Old Buffalo Bills Message Board

I remember you from the old BBMB. We’re you the one who banned me for calling Ralph Wilson a “cheapskate” or Chris Brown “baldy?” Once I remember a poster shared your address because he was so mad at you -
Old Buffalo Bills Message Board
JohnNord replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was where I got my start with message boards and it was quite and adventure. I used to regularly get suspended for criticizing the Bills - this was during the drought years so there was plenty of criticizing. My claim to face once I called Ralph Wilson a “cheapskate” for hiring Dick Jauron. That was a suspension. Chris Brown used to write the most patronizing articles in defense of Bills coaches/GMs. They were automatically posted at the top of the MB. I once said something like “No one wants to read your work baldy.” That was a suspension. There are a few moderators from BBMB that post on here. I know one was T&C who was notorious for throwing his weight around. Another moderator wrote a cool thread here about his experience. I forget what he said, but basically the team was very concerned about the MB and they were under pressure to keep it clean. They also weren’t told in advance that the board was shutting down -
I think you draft a C/G who can play next to Morse for at least one season before cutting him. You also need to spend money on legitimate competition for Spencer Brown. Quessenberry isn’t good enough. As far as the signing of Jakobi Meyers, I like him a lot as a player but he’s more of a slot receiver. It seems like we need someone who can play out the outside because I’m not sure the Bills will re-sign Gabe after next year. Who?

Can Sean McDermott Coach the Bills to a Championship?

Can Sean McDermott Coach the Bills to a Championship?
JohnNord replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is true. Though I think he had a hand in a lot of the draft picks - especially on defense so he does bear some of that blame. Still I think as the year progressed and injuries to key players happened, the roster wasn’t as loaded as we thought pre-season. The areas which were neglected - offensive line, CB, and WR depth came back to bite us in the ass -
That because Bills don’t really have a power running game and the offensive line couldn’t block for our finned passing game

So what is the first coach or domino to fall?
JohnNord replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott didn’t commit to either coordinator. I think there’s a decent chance 1 will be gone. I think it might be Dorsey -
I don’t think so. It’s the whole offense from playing calling to OL and maybe a little Josh

It’s a bad comparison. He’s not Marvin Lewis.

McDermott The Only Defensive Head Coach in Divisional Round
JohnNord replied to ArtVandalay's topic in The Stadium Wall
Losing Von was tremendous though. The Bills lost the one guy who was supposed to put them over the edge. You have to have an element of luck to win the Super Bowl - especially w/ injuries, and that loss is extremely unlucky -
I agree… there is not way that the ankle isn’t going to effect him. Both Cincy or Buffalo will put forth a better defensive effort than Jacksonville did
-
Yeah very true. It’s a tough balancing act. There were a few balls like the INT that he didn’t need to throw. The Bills were up 17-3 and doing well. He would have been better served moving the chains. Maybe hold off on the killshot there…but you are right we don’t want him not trying when it is advantageous.

It’s a decent write-up but the solution is a bit more challenging. We know the answer isn’t for Josh to simply start dumping the ball down and not take deep shots. He just needs to be a bit more opportunistic
