There was talk today from a reported who said they think McD is going to try to run more formations with only one LB and an extra S or DB. That might make sense and I'm honestly better with that than musical chairs at MLB. While this might open us up against the run game, we've spend so much damn draft capital and FA money on the DL, that they better be able to hold their own a little. And honestly, I think a SS (Rapp/Poyer) can tackle as well as Edmunds "please push me back 5 yards". Yeah, it seemed like Elam solidified moreso by the end of the season. If he was only talking about the regular season, he’d be correct. Our defense craps the bed in the playoffs. With that being said, if we got a RT and DHop instead of extending Oliver and getting Floyd, I’d be more excited for this next season.

I think this is all very natural. Yes, Beane has missed on picks, but so do all GMs. Spending money on two DEs the past two years after all the draft picks we put into those position isn’t a great look. But I’d argue his success rate is still pretty high.

I think we are heading for a partial rebuild after by 2025 and Beane is trying to win before that happens. I don't think we will be completely decimated and hopefully Beane is able to stockpile picks so we can get some cheap labor during the transition. By 2025, I would expect all of these players to be gone: Hyde Poyer Von Miller Diggs Morse While that doesn't seem like a lot, we also have the expiring contracts and players who may not have earned new deals. So overall, by 2025 we will need (if not already drafted a replacement) -RT, C, WR1, WR2, WR3, RB, DT 2, RE, LE, MLB, OLB, FS, SS That's more than half the roster

I get that. But if we are going to pay a guy 15 mil plus, then he should be the dominant force and make life easier for everyone else. I’m not coming at you, just the whole idea of paying him when he needs others to help him be great, but got that contract, bothers me a little.
