  1. Perhaps. Not trying to be a hero or a villain. Just a regular guy passionate about the Bills. Just expressing my feelings honestly perhaps not wisely. We seem to be on the same page with regards to McD. All I want is that SB win. That's one common theme that's safe to say we all agree upon.
  2. Not entirely his fault. However, he gets his fair share of the blame. How much is debatable but to dismiss him of fault is ludicrous.
  3. How can you talk winning multiple championships when McD and Beane haven't even sniffed a SB appearance during their Bills tenure. That seems beyond optimistic to me.
  4. Its the way they lost not that they lost. They lost the games largely because of coaching. 13 sec No doubt. Cinci game players unprepared and out schemed. Three years ago when the Bills lost to KC there was no widespread anti McD. It was pretty clear KC was the better team.
  5. Winning one certainly does elevate everyone including coaches. It means you achieved a rare feat and you are automatically elevated to another level. It proves you can rise to another level. It's a pretty big deal. Not sure how much football you have watched. Payton was pretty much known to be an excellent offensive coach. One of the best in the game. Him and Breeze were pretty special. The Saints offense was dynamic and innovative. I believe an Allen and Payton combination would be similar to Mahomes and Reid. Allen and McD doesn't neatly move the needle. As for defense, the McD defense has been unable to make the needed stops come playoff time.
  6. Agree with your post. I'd be so much more optimistic this season with Payton as the head coach VS McD. Payton is leap years ahead McD on the coaching tree. Can you imagine a Payton lead offense with Allen as his QB? My goodness that is borderline orgasmic. The Bills chances to go to the SB and or win it would go up substainally. Instead, we are hoping McD "sees the light" and learns from his mistakes. So far, that's not working out so well unless you are cool with great regular seasons. Damn Payton was there for the taking. Another missed opportunity.
  7. So many it's difficult to pick one. I'd say it's pounding the table that Allen was regressing early in the season a few years ago.
  8. Let's paint an accurate picture here. You are only telling part of the story. McD and his coaching staff has been out coached in the playoffs. Absolutely, no doubt the last two years ( 13 sec and the Miami's/Cinci game.) Not to mention the Texans and Jags losses. There's plenty of reasons to begin questioning McD. Some have been calling for a coaching change since last year. This is nothing new. It will continue so long as there's blatant inexcusable playoff coaching blunders like we've seen the last two years. Getting beat is one thing like in KC in Arrowheard 3 years ago. I don't believe the most optimistic Bills fan would dispute that the Bills have underpreformed in the playoffs. Correct? Should the Bills stay the course with McD or move on? The Bills have a franchise QB with 5 years of experience whose arguably the top 2 to 5 QB in the league. Yet, they haven't even sniffed a SB appearence. Sure it's hard to get there. However, I think it's reasonable to say fans are disappointed that the Bills haven't gotten there. Ask yourself why. Very complex question with many many variables. Where does McD fit into the equation of 4-5 in the playoffs? Not one person here is disputing McD's numbers. Yes he's the winningest Bills coach ever. Yes they have made the playoffs for multiple years. Yes the are SB contenders. Check, check, check... The real questions thats been beaten to death is can McD lead this team to a SB and win it? Is McD a difference maker? Can another solid coach do more than McD? Is it time to move on? Etc... No one knows how any of this will play out. Certainly, there are valid arguments being made on both ends of the spectrum. I think it's a mistake not to recognize the arguments on both sides of the isle. A mistake to dismiss the counterarguments as ridiculous. In the end, I think its fine to disagree to disagree. Yet, a select few want to sling mud and cross the line. Not cool.
  9. Talk to me! I'm listening. You are going to try to take the high road after that comment. Really? Not upset in the least. Just perplexed at the level of hypocrisy in your statement. Happy father's day.
  10. The resounding theme will be there's always next year, McD is a good coach, the results are fine ie playoffs and reg season wins, and it's so difficult to win a SB. It all depends on your expectations and how you see things. Obviously, I'm inn the minority.
  11. I agree 100%. Fantastic breakdown and assessment. Took the words right out of my mouth!
  12. All McD had to do was stay out of the way and let Josh do his thing. I give him credit for doing so. When McD intervened it became a disaster. One for the NFL history books. Thus far, his legacy is 13 seconds into proven otherwise. Add injury to insult, look at the Cinci game. What was the game plan offensively and defensively? Still don't know what they learned from the prior meeting weeks before.
  13. Gunner, I respect your opinion and knowledge. You always respond professionally and with solid evidence backing up your claims. I am often reactionary to a fault. I can't get 13 seconds out of my head nor the playoff performances of the recent years. Perhaps, I'm too short sighted to see a positive long term prognosis. Takes me back a few years ago when Allen wasn't playing well early in the season. I was incorrectly pounding the table saying Allen was regressing. Boy, was I wrong and happily wrong at that. I would like nothing more than McD to bring a SB to Buffalo. I'd love to be wrong again! Go Bills!!!
  14. You say "firing McD would be a huge gamble." Would it really? What makes you think that? You don't think a solid coach can win a lot of games with Allen as their QB? Do you think McD is irreplaceable? McD has consistently come up short come playoff time. Correct? Of course things could improve or get worse. There's no guarantee of either. Your premise of firing McD being a huge gamble isn't how I see it. Imho, it's worth the risk because I'm not convinced McD will lead the Bills to the SB. I have a nice sample size to evaluate.
  15. Afraid of the Chiefs and Bengals who are in most people's eyes better than Buffalo. Likely to play at least one of them in the playoffs. Concerned about other teams like Miami, Jets, Chargers, and Jags.
  16. Let me put it another way. Give you a different perspective to ponder. Do you think there are viable good coaches out there? Solid to good coaches. I think that answer has to be yes. Many have been named already. With that said, how much worse do you think another coach will do? Especially, consider the playoffs. The Bills have a generational franchise QB. That almost assures you of a good season record and a playoff birth. Agree? The coach pretty much doesn't have to mess it up sort of speak. It's a bit rudimentary but you get the gest. How much of a difference maker do you think McD is? Does he win big games? Does he win playoff games? Has he coached well in the playoffs? When is the last time you said to yourself wow McD is managing a great game. The coaching staff is outstanding this game? Playoffs? Miami game? Cinci game? KC games? Indy game? Texans game? Jags game? You see a theme here? Point being McD is not elite and it's very clear come playoff time. It's not a one or two game sample either. It's time to cut the cord your playoff losses. Increase your chances to make a SB run. A solid coach can do it. Ben Johnson or Lou A with the Bengals. I'd argue the Bills won't lose much and there will be little to no drop off if they add a solid coach. Of course, there is some risk. Hopefully, I have convinced you that the risk is pretty low and minimized by a franchise QB. The McD show has peaked...
  17. Well thought out and a good read. Certainly is plausible. Lots of unknowns that will probably never be answered. I'm not so sure about the color issue you eluded too. That never entered my mind and seemed kind of odd. Perhaps you are right.
  18. Fair post. I agree with the theme of your post. I welcome all viewpoints from negative to positive and optimism to pessimism. That's the true beauty of this forum.
  19. Lots of assumptions here. I'll leave it at that.
  20. What the writer says does has some truth and value to it. If that is "dignifying" then so be it. As you correctly pointed out many improvements to the Bills roster was omitted. I'd ask why do you seem so defensive and even angry? I posted it because I think it's stimulating to get alternative viewpoints.
  21. Little doubt the Bills wouldn't have a Lombardi or a SB appearence if Mcvay was the coach. I agree McVay is one of the best out there.
  22. Getting a MCD replacement is always considered a crap shoot in your eyes? Would Sean P be a crap shoot? Frank Reich? Ben Johnson? Eric Benamamy, Doug Pederson, etc... Sometimes do you think that coaching changes can be advantageous?
