12/7/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Bengals 1:00 pm Post Game Thread
newcam2012 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think today's game is kind of what we are going to see from the Bills defense. They aren't elite and they will be exposed by good offenses. However, if they can make some big plays and some keys stops the team should be ok with Allen on offense. -

I also think it's very important to say Beane and McD best opportunity to thrive and improve the roster was when Allen was on his rookie contract. They needed to get star power and immediate impact players. Von Miller was a huge miss and resigning Diggs was a colossal mistake. The team has paid for these mistakes. I just don't see how they get it done now under severe CAP restricts. What's going to change? That's exactly why Beane has to be frugal and get mediocre players and throw darts. Not to mention many of his draft choices haven't been very productive. This years draft choices have been very very poor as far as contributing in a positive way. Not a recipe to a super bowl appearance. Beane and McD supporters will continue to reference the drought days. How football is entertainment, the multiple AFC East titles, the great regular season records, the culture, etc... All of this is true. But what's also true is missed opportunities to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. In hindsight, I think many of us thought the Bills would have made a super bowl appearance by now with Allen as our QB. I know I did. Each year passes and my desire for change grows.

Sounds like you really aren't open to change.

I'll try to make a few points. I am grateful Beane and McD came to Buffalo. They absolutely turned around a losing team and organization. There's no denying that and any football fan has to acknowledge that. Beane hit a "Grand Slam" when he drafted Josh Allen. It was anything but a sure thing and it clearly had risks. However, I take exception to "let the man fix the issue..." Really? This is year nine of Josh Allen. It's not year 3, 4, or 5. How much success have the Bills had in the playoffs? Recently, what would you consider the about average moved that Beane has made? Is it draft choices, WR moves, contract extensions, and or defensive players? Imho, it mostly inadequate and poor moves. The Josh Allen factor really shouldn't be minimized. The guy from year 3 to year 8 literally carried the team on his back. Remember, how all the pundits would say too much reliance on Allen, he needs help, etc... Allen alone got gets this team almost to the playoffs a playoff birth yearly. It's really not a stretch to say that. As a result, changing coaches and a GM after a near decade of playoff failures isn't extreme. I'd add it really not all that risky. Remember, you have Josh Allen. Lastly, I take exception to the general theme of the drought years. It sucked big time. I think many accept the recent playoff failures because heck it's better than before. Many happy with regular season wins and a playoff win or 2. The standards should be much higher. You have Josh Allen. Build around him. That's where the organization has failed. 13 seconds is a clear example of neglect and incompetence. I'd argue the team has never recovered from that disaster. The time for change has long passed. The Beane and McD has stalled. It's lost its luster and glory.

Week 14, Bungles v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
newcam2012 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of a tough game to predict. Both defenses leave a lot to be desired. Not sure how the Bills contain Burrows, Brown, Higgins, and Chase. Seems like a daunting task. Burrows certainly seems to have the Bills number although a very small sample size. Conversely, I'm not sure how the Bengals D contains Cook, Allen, the tight end, etc... Josh usually steps up in big games. I expect a big game from him. Cinci has more to lose here. They are basically playing for their season. Buffalo at home is very difficult to beat. Personally, the best bet is taking Cincinnati and 5.5 points. However, let's predict the score. Buffalo 34 Cinci 33 Go Bills -
Hard to really know. I think he was worth a shot for basically free. Slay is or was a better zone CB so he might have done well under McD. I guess we will never know.

Both of you make fair points. The Beane and McD era has reached its peak and appears to be regressing. I don't really see much upside to having them continue here in Buffalo. They had a nice run but I think new blood is more than welcomed. We can appreciate their success and acknowledge that football has been a lot more enjoyable the last decade or so. Nevertheless, I believe their messages, style, decisions, drafts, coaching schemes ,etc... aren't in a direction of a super bowl win. That's the bottom line and goal here. The team is flawed and lots of that falls on Beane,McD, and the coaching staff. Doesn't mean they suck because both would get scooped up in a heartbeat. It's time to move on and give the team some new hope, energy, philosophy, schematic changes, etc... Change is needed; don't fear it rather welcome it. Go Bills. A model franchise that can't even sniff a super bowl. I think the perception is the Bills can't get it done in the playoffs. Nick Wright mocks the Bills for winning their super bowl when the Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season. I think you are really overstating the perception angle here.
-
I think it's the Rams in the NFC and the Ravens in the AFC. Rams hoist another Lombardi. Surprise team not to make the playoffs are the Chiefs. One and done are the Bills due too many injuries.
-
We will disagree to disagree and let's leave it at that. We will see shortly. Hope you are right.

I agree with most of what you said. However, I don't know how much of "shtick" it really is. The only way to stop much of the negativity is to win it all. We are starving to see that Lombardi hoisted in Buffalo. Many have waited decades including myself. Perhaps that's unrealistic or terrible way to view things. But is it? See below. After season or two of Josh Allen, I think we knew how special he was. A super bowl appearance and a win was evident or at the very least achievable. The anticipation of the next season was as high as ever. Years later, the Bills haven't even sniffed a super bowl appearance. Its best chance was inexcusably whisked away in 13 seconds. That's the moment McD lost me. That's a whole different story. Currently, the Bills are almost assured of losing the AFC East and other teams in the AFC have seemingly closed the gap. Does this really look like a super bowl team? Be honest. For me, this is the least optimistic I've been in several years. Of course, they can still get there and I'm not giving up hope. I will be the first to cheer them on. However, I won't stand idle as a fan and not voice my criticism. It not a "shtick" for me. Go Bills!!!
-
After a slow start he seems to be back to bring elite. Will he shadow Chase?
-
I think the real issue is bigger than the Slay move. The complaining is a microcosm of Beane's roster construction, Cap nightmare, contract extensions, various acquisitions, etc...Its not just about one move. Hope that helps you understand the mindset of many frustrated Bills fans.

Ok if you say so. Maybe reread what I said sentence by sentence word for word. With the exception of the first sentence what do you disagree with? Such a dumb comment that you back track and agree with me. It's all good though. No offense taken. Go Bills. -

Three wins definitely gets the Bills in. Two wins most likely gets them in but not for sure. One thing of note is that Philly game. I've been hoping Philly has nothing to play for and it's an easy win for Buffalo. However, that game might be important to them for seeding the way they've been playing. I think the AFC East division is lost for Buffalo. Of course, on paper it's still possible. Best case scenario is the Bills get a favorable match up and can maybe host one playoff game. -
Its OK for the Bills to be a run-first team
newcam2012 replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
Serious question here. Is part of the problem with the passing game a Brady problem as well? I feel like no matter who the Bills have at WR they aren't going to excell or reach their potential. Of course, bits an over statement but you get the point. More specifically, Brady's offense seems predictable and uncreative especially in the passing game. I don't see him scheming open guys and setting up defenses. Of course, part of the problem is lack of WR talent and asking them to do things they aren't good at. For example, Coleman being and X WR and Shakir basically being used as a RB. Something's gotta change. I think they need an injection of WRs and an innovative OC. Can you imagine what Ben Johnson could do with Allen, Cook, Shakir, etc...? -

I'm not a huge fan of McD but I agree he has to continue making the play calls on defense. He puts the players in the better position to make plays. I've noticed Tre is playing much better, Bishop is really solid and a asset now, LB Shaq is a steady force, there was a Milano sighting, Bosa has been a great addition, and hopefully Max Hariston comes into his own. Still concerned about the lack of a consistent pass rush. Go Bills. Good analysis but it's way too early for for my "pea brain" with so many games needing to be played. -

I think teams will dare the Bills to pass early. If I were an opposing defense I'd stack the box immediately. I'd make Allen and the Bills WRs beat me. I'm not so sure the Bills would be very successful. Do you think the Bills pass can can set up the run game? Being diverse and unpredictable doesn't seem to be the strength of Brady or the Bills' offense. That's a problem going forward into the playoffs. Allen can negate a lot of short comings and has mostly played great in the playoffs. We will see how it plays out.
