  1. Plenty of big regular season games between the two. Often they had playoff implications for the Chargers. The Chargers have squandered just about everyone of those games.
  2. Both teams can't win when it counts. Both teams can't beat KC in the big game. Both teams have a reputation that they choke in the big game. Both teams have top tier QBs who have fallen short repeatedly. Both teams have coaches that have choked away a playoff game. Both fan bases have been disappointed in recent years. Are they really stacked? Who are the elite players on the team? Don't get me wrong the roster looks to be improved and solid. A roster that if healthy should be able to compete with any team.
  3. I agree. Their are many similarities between the Chargers and the Bills.
  4. That's more than a fair way of seeing things. Our eyes are a little different but I totally respect what you are saying. 👍
  5. I think Allen is physically more gifted then Kelly. However, there's no way you can put Allen ahead of Kelly. It's just an unfair comparasion. Kelly is a hall of famer whose career has ended. Allen hasn't even sniffed what Kelly has accomplished nor has he played enough football. It would be Kelly hands down for me if I had to pick one right now based on what we know. The major reasons are I knew Kelly would get It done when the game was on the line. I recall thinking over and over please give Kelly a chance. Get the ball back. Most often Kelly was able to be successful. I just don't have the same level of confidence in Allen. That's not a knock on Allen as it is a compliment to Kelly. Secondly, Kelly made four straight SB appearances. Should have a ring but wide right still haunts many Bills fans. That feat is quite remarkable despite falling short. Allen had to earn his way past Kelly. With time hopefully he does. He's not there yet.
  6. He's likely to be the next scapegoat if the Bills fail to meet their goals and expectations.
  7. That's a terrible mindset to possess. With that kind of thinking the Bills are very unlikely to win anything of substance. Just pack it in now. Instead, I say would say the Bills have Allen and he's more than capable of beating Mahomes and Burrow. The playing field is very close without huge separation. A strong case can be made that Allen is better than Burrow. Stop with the excuses. The Bills were favorites to win the SB for a reason. The major differentiator between the team's is coaching. Lou Anarumo took Dorsey to the woodshed and McD handed KC a golden ticket. A Fraizer led D under the direct supervision of McD has been paper tigers in the playoffs.
  8. That's fair. Payton is just one example of possible candidates. Personally, I would not have liked giving up draft picks to retain him. If I'm worong here I stand corrected. I here where you are going with Payton. I just feel he would be a great fit with Allen. His offensive prowlness would be benifical and a welcome addition. I can definelty say the same about Ben Johnson. Imho, Allen would benefit from change and a new offensive mindset. I feel like McD is not a great fit for Allen. Maybe I'm wrong here. McD is a defensive minded coach whose defense turns into "paper tigers" come playoff time. We've seen it routinely in the playoffs. I have little confidence his defense will be up to the task this year. Granted it's an extremely tough task to stop or contain Mahomes and Burrow. Yet, teams find ways to derail the Bills offense. With that said, I would rather shift to an offense minded coach. Someone who can let Allen cook. Someone who can get creative. Someone who can have a plan when teams take away Diggs in the playoffs. Someone who can utilize all their offensive weapons. Someone who will go down swinging for the fences. Someone who can add ingenuity to the offense. Very skeptical that McD and Dorsey are those guys.
  9. I'm not assuming a new head coach is going to be the answer. I'm also not assuming McD can or can't make the leap either. Both are unknowns. I'm saying it's worth the risk to hire a new head coach because I've seen what McD has done in the playoffs. I'm not impressed whatsoever. I'm saying a new head coach can achieve close to the same or more than McD based on the Allen factor. The status quo just doesn't cut it anymore. Pegula obviously disagrees. Of course, many including yourself disagree. That's more than ok with me.
  10. What's there to lose if McD is not coaching the Bills? That's a serious question not trying to facetious. Of course, there is some risk but how much? I for one would be super excited if Payton was hired as the Bills coach. A welcome change if you will. Allen clearly mitigates the risk. Isn't that a fair statement? A decent to solid coach is likely to have a good regular season record and make the playoffs. Especially with Allen and the roster. Is that a fair statement? The notion that the team is going to regress or fall apart without McD is unfounded and a fallacy. The opposite is quite possible too. A new fresh start, innovative and creativity might be just what the Bills need. Ask yourself how much different is this year going to be with the same old regime? Is the grass is greener with staying with the status quo?
  11. That's a pretty disingenuous post. The record itself doesn't tell the complete an accurate picture. Piece together the coaching decisions, game time adjustments, game plan, and schemes. It's been awful for far too long. As a fan, I want a coaching staff that can give it's team the best chance to win. A coaching staff that is an asset instead of a liability. How anyone can think the Bills coaching staff has done a decent job in the playoffs. It baffles me. They haven't and that's the point! We've seen it for numerous years. How many more mulligans does he get? How many more wasted opportunities? How many more excuses? The window is getting tighter and tighter folks. A healthy Allen surely helps out any coach. I welcome a change but obviously that's not coming soon. McD and Beane are safe and in complete control. Let's see what happens.
  12. Disagree with your interpretation. Your premise is incorrect. I'm not advocating moving on from him because if 13 seconds. That certainly plays a role in my thought process. However, that's too micro of a viewpoint. Rather, I'm looking at his entire playoff history. The 4-5 overall record, the Texans loss, Jags loss, the Indy win, two KC losses which includes 13 seconds, and last year's two playoff games. When you look at the complete picture it's not a scathing record. In fact, it's poor by anyone's standard. Look beyond the score and you can see how inept and poor the Bills coaching was. That doesn't exclude McD. I'd be confident to say the Bills coaching staff lost more playoff games than they won. Feel free to disagree. So hopefully you can see a more macro playoff version of McD. It's not pretty and it can be argued it's terminal results.
  13. That's more then fair. I totally get that viewpoint. However, there is plenty of data signifying the track record of McD in the playoffs. By all accounts, even the most optimistic can't conclude it's a positive result. That's exactly where the divide and the debate begins. No one is denying the fact that he wins games and gets to the playoffs. Ask yourself what has he done in the playoffs. Take a hard look at the performance of the Bills coaching staff during McD tenure. Don't easily dismiss the last two years of borderline incompetence in the playoffs. It's not insignificant. Taking that into account the decision becomes much more analytical than emotional. Like I said, I acknowledge the validity of retaining McD. However, there is also validity in moving on as well. Imho, it's disingenuous to say the decision is emotional and not data driven. The question is what level of whining quest your thirst? What is a successful season? It's all relative.
  14. Great post. Stability and philosophy are important concepts to team building. A cohesive group of players on the same page certainly can increase winning probability. However, there always comes a time when difficult decisions need to be made. Those decisions are largely made with analysing data, sample size, results, weighing risks, and rewards. Of course, many other variables are at play. More specifically, how does all of the above pertain to McD? That's where the many differences of opinions have been expressed.
  15. The whole theme of you post is condescending. Then you predict a Bills SB win in the future and threaten to rub it in. Come on man stop with the non sense.
  16. I think you are being way too kind to McD. You call out Dorsey and Fraizer for their playoff failure. Yet, you seemingly transition to total support for McD. Who was the head coach during those playoff losses? Who was the head coach getting out coached and out classed the last two years and more? Who blew the game in 13 seconds? The resounding answer is McD. Sure he can improve and hopefully he does. However, McD absolutely deserves to be hammered negatively for his continued playoff failures. Of course that won't be popular here. Instead, the owner gives him a blank check and a seal of approval. Very perplexing.
  17. I'm more curious than excited. Frankly, I have no clue or idea how Dorsey is going to do. He certainly needs to improve and improve not marginally. It's a huge question mark going into a season where the Bills are trying to win it all. McD certainly comes with high expectations. The Bills defense has not preformed well in the playoffs. McD as a defensive HC certainly isn't shielded from criticism. I fail to put all the blame on Fraizer. No way can one think McD was totally hands off when Fraizer was aboard. It was McD defense too. I'm excited about the upcoming season but it comes with lots of trepidation. Go Bills! Really nice input.
  18. Agree 100%. Take a look at how the Patriots coach has done since Brady departed. Look at how Tampa did with Brady. Maybe it's time for Allen to shine. Oops! he did and it was ripped away from him in 13 seconds.
  19. Awesome post! I couldn't agree more. Well said. I just don't know how other Bills fans fail to see the logic and evidence in your post. Is it denial, blind optimism, or something else?
  20. "I believe he'll figure it out next post season." That says it all right there. Hope you are right.
  21. Section 122 says: "The Bills have run up against and lost to better teams." That's not underachieving in their mind. Yet, you say quite the opposite talking about single elimination games and the underdog has better chances to win. Sure the NBA and NFL format is different and you make a valid counter argument. Nevertheless, I stand by the premise of my statement which is good coaches get relieved of their duties. If you will, maybe the college football arena is a better example. Lastly, is six years of playoff experience a small sample size? Many solid coaches wont sniff that. I'd argue it's more than enough to make a solid evaluation and an informed decision. Thus far, McD has been vastly out coached, out schemed, and out prepared come playoff time. Not sure how an unbiased football fan can't see this. What has he done in the playoffs that you can say wow McD and his coaching staff are on point? For me, it's the game plan when they faced Lamar. That was far too long to be awed or impressed. With respect, what makes you think McD can lead this team to a SB appearence? What does he bring to the table come post season? Is it scheme? Poise? Experience? Game planning? Game time adjustments? Game preparation? Xs and Os?, motivation?, optimism? hope for the better? ...
