  1. The whole Diggs situation is one I'm interested to see how it plays out. I'm not convinced that everything is squashed. I'm expecting some Diggs drama this season. Diggs certainly has a difficult time controlling his emotions. Hoping we don't see a Minn repeat but it wouldn't surprise me either. We've some red flags already. The coffee is brewing sort of speak. Super good insight here Gunner! Thanks.
  2. The Bills WR core after Diggs is a huge drop off. At this point, it's pretty clear what Davis and several of the other WRs are. The WR core likely doesn't instill much fear for opposing defenses. Allen will once again be the focal point. Likely he will be asked to do too much. The Bills definelty need another WR to step it up. Come playoff time you game bank on it the opposing team will double Diggs and take him out of the game. Some other WR will have to step up. Davis is no longer a secret and unlikely to be that guy. I'm sure others disagree here. Kincaid shows promise and potential but who knows. Same with others. As for me, the team had to make some difficult decisions. Cap restrictions certainly limited the teams moves. Beane was honest about that. None of the offensive moves in and of itself seem to be game changers except Kincaid. If Kincaid is that dynamic and the coaching staff can utilize his skill set then that's another story. Hopefully, he becomes a dynamic weapon for the Bills. If so, an already dangerous Allen becomes even better. Another huge key is the oline. The oline has to be much better in order for the Bills to compete with likes of KC and Cinci. Beane has absolutely tried to upgrade this area. Hopefully, it pans out. Thanks. Sure feels like the Bills could have gotten a deal done.
  3. The Bills made some difficult decisions. Signing Oliver certainly looked to seal the deal that Hopkins wasn't coming to Buffalo. Maybe I'm wrong here because I'm not good with the cap and money restrictions. If my premise is somewhat plausible, i'd rather have Dhop and traded Oliver for a mid draft pick or two. I think Dhop impacts the team more and gives the Bills a better chance to win. With Beane really concentrating on the offense, I'm surprised he couldn't or didn't get it done. I think opposing teams would have hated to see Dhop go to Buffalo. I doubt Oliver is putting any fear in opposing offenses. I doubt they are game planning for him. Dhop on the other hand certainly creates many issues for opposing defenses. I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as I'm stating. Lots of variables in play. I can't help but to feel a little let down in the decision not to create some cap room for DHop.
  4. Lol. Thanks for the love Mr. Chandler. I can always count on it like clockwork. 👍 That seems to be the conscious amoung many here. Maybe I'm more likely wrong here than right.
  5. That's a fair statement in some regards. Other factors that are unknown were probably in play. Maybe the city of Buffalo wasn't his proffered region, maybe he wanted to be the true number one WR, maybe he felt like he wouldn't be targeted to his liking, or maybe the Bills offer wasn't close to the Titans offer. Maybe he would have taken a little less under the right circumstances. Nice post Thurman!
  6. This isn't entirely accurate Thurman. His base salary isn't 15 million. The 15 million is incentive based. My understanding is his annual salary is about 12 mil each year. So the money gap could be more than you are implying with the extra year the Bills could have offered. Yes, I will concede it still might not have been enough. Additionally, many players will take less to get the opportunity to win it all. All depends on the player and their priorities. In short, the Bills had options and had selling points. I believe a deal could have gotten done that would have been benifical for both sides. Feel free to disagree.
  7. Based on he gets a three year contract vs a two year contract. Also, he gets to have Allen as his QB and contend for a SB. These are pretty enticing positives for an aging veteran WR. The Bills could have built in incentives as well.
  8. I think you are in the ballpark for Davis. I had a 10-12 million dollar pay range. I could see a team offering more if he has a nice year. So here's the question. Assuming the Bills did their due diligence, would you rather have DHop for a similar contract than Davis might get next year? I'm pretty sure Dhop woukd have jumped on a 3 year 33 million dollar offer. To me it's a no brainer. DHop is the clear winner hands down. He gives the Bills the absolute best chance to advance further. The only real advantage is getting Davis on the cheap for this year. That does have some merit.
  9. I hope you are wrong on Davis. Beane also said glowing things about Edmunds and failed to give him a new contract. So it's really hard to gauge what happens to the future of Davis as a Bill. I guess a lot will depend in his play this year abd terms of the contract. Davis is a feel good story. A steal in the later rounds of the draft. Who doesn't cheer for the underdog? Seems be be a nice guy and an extremely hard worker. That fits the mold of a Buffalo Bill. I can get on board with the Davis love. However, Davis has some pretty big limitations. I see him as a mediocre to average WR2. Personally, I believe the Bills need to upgrade this position. It's exactly why I wanted Dhop. Guess we will see how things play out. I think Davis will be pretty expensive to keep. WR 2s are getting big money. I believe some team will over pay him similar to the Edmunds situation.
  10. I remember Beane saying that. My question is would acquiring Dhop at a similar cost really be considered a tear down? How disruptive would it be? Risk vs reward I'm sure was considered. What hasn't really been addressed in all of this is the Bills current number 2 WR. Gabe Davis is certainly going to get paid. WR 2s are getting big paychecks. Frankly, he is younger but not even close to the league of Dhop. Are the Bills planning to pay him or let him walk for nothing? I would havd been fine with dumping Davis for some decent value and replacing him with Dhop.
  11. I think this is far. My point though is the Bills brass certainly seemed to be in a win now mode with that move. A poster implied that wasn't the mindset of Beane and management. So to use that mindset as rationale to not acquire Dhop seemed flawed or at the very least contradictory. Also, we fans saw a major drop off at WR after Diggs. It's far to say the Bills WR core after Diggs leaves a lot to be desired. Beane has clearly tried to upgrade the Bills offense on multiple levels. The offensive emphasis is pretty clear. That mindset or direction certainly give credence to acquiring Dhop. Of course a Dhop acquisition would have created a buzz of negativity. How much we will never know. I don't think many Bills fans would have disliked seeing Dhop in a Bills uniform.
  12. What you say makes a lot of sense. However, i'd counter that mindset with the Von Miller move. That absolutely screams of a win now mode. It was a risky large contract from day one. He was largely viewed as the missing piece to take the Bills to the SB. I believe most fans here were more than fine with the Bills swinging for the fences sort of speak. So I find it a bit disingenuous to say that Dhop didn't fit the long term needs of the team. Also, I get the Bills want to stay competitive. Of course, that's a goal of the team. However, the ultimate goal without question is a SB. Thus, the Miller acquisition. The Bills definelty could have maneuvered their roster to add Dhop. How that would have played out is unknown. What's known is Dhop is not a Bill. As a Bills fan, I wish the Bills would have acquired him. I think he would have been an integral piece of the Bills offense. A piece that this current offense doesn't have. A piece that would have increased the chances of the Bills representing the AFC. I think the goal is the same for either. The process to get there is where the debates begin.
  13. He looked pretty good last year after coming off of suspension. The guy is an elite route runner with great hands. The aging process for him with his skill set isn't as dramatic. Think Larry Fitzgerald as a good example. I'm convinced he would have had a positive impact on the Bills offense. Think a piece like him makes Diggs even better. We know what teams do come playoff time. Of course, it comes down to money, needs, other players available, fit, etc... I wish Dhop was in a Bills uniform. However, I'm pretty confident Beane and company exhausted all avenues and felt like Dhop wasn't worth it. Hope he's right.
  14. Probably so. Not my money but I think the price he got was fair. I'm sure Beane could have paid maybe a little less and offered him a three year contract. Got creative with incentives and such. Who knows maybe he did and it just wasn't meant to be. As a Bills fan, I feel slightly disappointed the Bills couldn't contend with what Tenn paid him. Bringing Dhop to Buffalo seemingly would have been a great acquisition. Obviously, Beane didn't pull the trigger which is somewhat disappointing. He has really emphasized upgrading the offense and Dhop certainly would have done that. I for one am not sold on the WRs core the Bills currently have.
  15. I wouldn't hate getting Evans. However, you just don't know how the Evan's situation will evolve. Dhop was there for the taking at a reasonable price. Have to think he would have taken a little bit less to play with Buffalo. Seems like a missed opportunity.
  16. Really fantastic analysis. I concur 100%. When I heard the contract details I was perplexed at why Beane didn't get it done. Dhop should have been a priority pick up imho. Hard to understand why Beane didn't get it done.
  17. Agree 100% Bill. Yet, so many fans refuse to see the obvious. Instead lots of fans want to cling to the Bills were flat and or exhausted from previous season's unfortunate events. That's just a tiny portion of the truth. Nice post Bill!
  18. I agree but I also think one can make reasonable inferences based on what someone says. For example, if someone says I was really sweating while I slowly walked outside today. I think one could infer that the weather was hot outside. Similarly, when one talks about a players/team being flat and then uses an example of a players wanting it so bad they just couldn't perform well. I think one can reasonable infer that the two are interrelated or intertwined.
  19. It's all good Gunner. We don't see things in the same light. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I'll always put much credence into what you say. My eyes see a very good Bills team that has squandered winninable playoff games under the McD regime. Texans, Jags, and KC come to mind off the top of my head. Thus, you have a 4-5 playoff record and not even a close sniff at a SB appearence. Imho, they squandered precious opportunities. Has the team progressed in their playoff appearances? With KC and Cinci likely going nowhere anytime soon the road to the SB looks difficult, maybe unlikely. No worries because many fans are more than satisfied with great regular season records and a playoff appearences. Bills have certainly done that well. Just think how much better that is than the past. Football as a Bills fan as been thoroughly more enjoyable. A SB appearence or win would only be gravy on top. Silly me for critizing a team, coaching staff, and organization who by all measures has enough talent to represent the AFC. Silly me for not accepting excuses as to why the Bills haven't made it to a SB? The beauty of it all is there's always next year. Next year brings new hope, enthusiasm, and optimism. Don't let me rain on anyone's parade. I hear the lyrics "Don't worry be happy" playing in the background. Great song! Signed by a older Bills fan that's been waiting 50 plus years for a Bills player to hoist a Lombardi Trophy.
  20. I agree. What I find ironic is that we Bill fans are very quick to dismiss the last year's playoff loss to injuries. No doubt it played a role. However, Tua and Bridgewater were hurt as well. Miami was playing a nobody inferior 3rd string QB. Yet, we Bills fans are fast to dismiss the injury excuse for Miami and it's fans. Crazy how minds work.
  21. Come on Gunner. You watched that Monday night game. There's no way you could objectively think the Bills were going to win that game. Sure it's a remote chance they do and we will never know. However, the Bengals were manhandling the vaunted Bills defense. The Bills offense had a nice scoring drive and then stalled out. The Bengals were physically dominating the Bills and doing what they wanted at will on offense. They were soon to be going up two scores before Damar got hurt. Almost everyone I've talked to Bills fans and otherwise have concurred the Bills were well on their way to a convincing loss. It's hard not to think otherwise if you are being objective.
  22. Come on Gunner. You are seemingly changing the goal post here. First it was a " no show" and now it's they wanted it so bad that they were flat. Perhaps, they are synonymous. There's no way on this earth I can buy that type of rational. That's pretty bizarre for world class athletes getting paid millions to underperform because they couldn't handle the situation or pressure. Or whatever reason you want to attach to it. No way no how was that game too big for any Bills player. No way no how did they play terrible due to wanting it so badly. You don't come out flat playing a huge playoff game at home. You don't come out flat when you have a franchise QB. You don't come out flat with all your playoff experience. You don't get out coached and out schemed by a country mile when you are supposed to be a good coach. All a bunch of excuses created by coaches players, and fans. The Bills players and coaches just weren't good enough on every level. A total disaster before arguably the best fan base in the NFL. No problem here. There's always next year and next year and next year. The only question up for debate will be what's the new flavor excuse going to be.
  23. No problem. I am fine with your stance. Sometimes it's ok to disagree.
  24. I agree. I've watched the game several times. There isn't really a path where I see the Bills losing this because they were unfocused, flat, or a no show. On offense, Diggs and Allen were laser focused. The two best offensive players were absolutely ready for the moment. No doubt in my mind. What we saw was a Cinci D with a Cinci D coordinator eat up the Bills predictable offense. They exploited every nook and cranny if the Bills offensive weaknesses. Most notably the oline and weak WRs. The Bills defense had little chance to stop the Cinci offense. We saw that on Monday night. That theme just merely continued a few weeks later. Injuries, lack of quality depth, and a horrific Fraizer playoff defense were simply no much for the Bengals O. After analysis a reasonable football mind should be able to conclude the Bengals were the better team and better coaches team. The excuse of a player "no show" and or other side noise effected the outcome is something I'm not buying into. It's a nice little excuse that fits nicely into the Bills failure.
  25. What makes you think the Bills players were a no show? They had no answers to stop the Bengals. It was the same results of the previous Monday night game. Not a lot was different! That certainly discredits your "no show" argument. Certainly, bolsters the claim that the Bengals were the superior team. With respect, let's be honest here Gunner. The Bills offense played poorly but I really don't think it was because they were flat or unfocused. It was mainly due to lack of WR talent, porous Oline, and a predictable game plan. Lou Anarumo out coached and out schemed the Bills in a domination fashion. Case in point, Diggs taken out of a playoff game again. What a surprise! It wasn't because they were flat or a no show. I'm not buying that BS for one minute. With respect, let's be honest here Gunner. No let's use the "no show" argument in its proper fashion. THE " NO SHOW" WAS THE BILLS COACHING STAFF. The team had a terrible game plan, made terrible adjustments, and looked dazed and confused in arguably the biggest playoff home game in years. The team was unprepared in every facet of the game. That's on the coaches!!! With respect, let's be honest here Gunner. After the game, McD and others conveniently create a narrative that gives them an out. Only in Buffalo does that fly. Try doing that in a market like NYC, Philly, etc...Fans would have eaten the coaching staff alive. Rightly so, I might add. Jerry Sullivan where are you when we the fans need some tough hard questions asked? No accountability is usually not a positive sign.
