  1. The Gabe Davis hype is for real. Alive and pumping.
  2. My point is many many fans here liked the move. They thought he was an instant upgrade despite his declining status and age. No one was saying or thinking they were getting a pro bowler lineman. Fact is BB and lots of fans were happy Saffold was acquired. They thought he was a viable stop gap. The type that could solidify the line on a very short term basis. Thus, lead the team to a SB. Remember, Cody Ford? How many fans were excited to get him in the 2nd round. Saying he was a steal and going to be a good one. The Torrance situation looks quite similar in many ways. Hopefully, with different results. Then there's Spencer Brown a huge question mark. I guess I'm frustrated as a fan because of the failure of the Bills regime to have a very good to great oline. BB has really failed in many ways here and it's clearly cost the team better results.
  3. Agree but many here thought he was an upgrade to the oline based on his experience and trust in BB decision making. Most football fans knew he was declining but nevertheless still thought he was a quality stop gap. Let's be honest here. BB has a pretty poor track record in regards to building a quality and consistent oline. I'm starting to question what Komer is doing too. He's supposed to be one of the best. Frankly, I haven't seen much of the Komer effect.
  4. I don't disagree with your take. I just remain skeptical mostly because of the Bills track record. The oline truthfully has bern as issue for years. I think that's a fair statement. Much of your rhetoric here has been reinterated for the past several years. Same or similar talking points. Cody Ford and Saffold jump off the page here. I'm not here saying the oline won't be better than the past. On paper, it does have promise and optimism is warranted. It's really a wait and see and an unknown on various levels. I'm just hopeful but not overly encouraged that this oline is good enough come playoff time. Time will tell.
  5. I'm not here saying this year's oline is bad. Last year's oline wasn't good and the previous year's oline wasn't either. In fact, when can you point to a Beane/ McD oline as being top 5? Elite? SB worthy? I'd argue with confidence the oline has been one major reason why the Bills have fallen short. As a result, I don't think it's a stretch to be cynical about this year's oline. There are many unknows about this year's constructed line. My contention is the glowing optimism on fans here. Many seemingly see the line as being stronger than the past. It certainly can be but I'm in wait and see mode. People want to annoit Torrance as an immediate upgrade and fit to for McGovern and others. I do like that BB has finally tried to overtly upgrade the oline. It remains to be seen if the oline is good enough. It remains to be seen if the oline becomes a strength, weakness, or somewhere in between. Hope that clarifies my perspective.
  6. I get that viewpoint. It certainly has some validity but it's far from accurate in many ways. No doubt I'm a glass half empty guy. No way have I advocated the Bills are a poor team or a non playoff team. I'm definitely one big critic of the team, coaches, and management. I'd be the first to admit I think I know more than I do. Often I'm wrong and sometimes I'm spot on with my critics. I don't seek approval or disapproval on my takes. I merely give an honest opinion and welcome all kinds of feedback. Occasionally, I will become scarcastic mostly due to frustration. In short, I'm a huge Bills fan who is frustrated with the Bills inability to make a SB appearance. Frustrated the Bills have not hoisted the Lombardi. I feel several mistakes and incompetence has contributed to the lack of reaching that goal. No need to rehash them. Others can chose to look at the Bills regular season success, AFC titles, playoff runs and limited playoff success as satisfying. I totally get that. Obviously, it's galaxies better than the best. I want more and I think the team has underachieved especially the last few years. Some will point to factors and use excuses. No doubt there is validity to that sentiment. Right or wrong, i tend to dismiss much of the excuses. In short, it's a matter of perspective.
  7. I think your assessment of Torrance and McGovern are way too premature. I really am not drawing any kind of conclusion on what we've seen thus far. No pads and likely be just a feeling out and get comfortable situation. Way to soon to make anything out of the little we've seen. Seems likek drinking the cool aid a little to me. Thus, I read your post as wishful thinking. Maybe I'm wrong here. But I get it most want to draw and make positive conclusions. Keep the positivity and optimism flowing. Probably a better and more funny I view things.
  8. Do you see five excellent starters on the oline? Do you think this is a top 10 oline? Do you think the oline is more likely to be a strength or weakness of the team. Do you think will be an oline that can lead the Bills to a SB? I'm encouraged by the likely upgrades and additions. On paper, they look to be much better than last year. Will it be good enough?
  9. I don't see this oline being ranked this high. At this point, I'd be happy with a top 15 oline. That would be progress.
  10. Wishful thinking here at its best. We don't know how Torrance will play come real time. McGovern has his weaknesses. Spencer Brown is a concern. This oline is a work in progress. Who knows how good or bad they will be. I think it's safe to say they are not an elite line. Doubt anyone has them ranked in the top 10. This oline has to play well or it's likely an early playoff loss once again.
  11. Let's dig a little further here. Diggs is excellent and I'd be foolish to say otherwise. However, let's look at Diggs the playoff WR. Clearly, his production falls off dramatically. Why? One big factor is because teams double Diggs and take him out of the game. We've seen this time after time. Davis burned the Chiefs two years ago. However, Davis was mostly an after thought and a WR 3/4 at that time. Davis as a WR2 doesn't exactly scare defenses. He's an average WR2 at best. Pointing to 800 yards of production only gives you limited insight. There are many other stats that aren't as glowing. No need to rehash them. Davis doesn't suck but I'd advocate an upgrade was needed. Davis as a WR3 would be much more viable. The rest of the WRs are nothing to sneeze about. Bunch of recycled players that hopefully can be productive. Others are young and unproven. I just don't see this WR core as a strength of the team. Nor do I see it as a weakness. It's middling. I have my doubts if it's good enough to compete for a deep playoff run. Then again Mahomes won it all on one leg and a subpar WR group. The real out for the Bills is Allen, Dorsey, and the oline. Allen can make this mediocre core of WRs better. I have no doubt the Bills offense will be productive but that's mostly because of Allen. Dorsey has to put Allen in the best positions to succeed.
  12. I wouldn't say the Bills are deep at the WR position. There are a lot of unknowns. The quality of the Bills WRs seem questionable after Diggs. A lot of guys will have to improve and step up their game. That certainly can happen. On paper, I would say the Bills WR core looks average. Allen can make average WRs look very good though. Personally, I wish the Bills upgraded the position more. Kicking the can with guys like Isabella and Harry don't get me excited whatsoever. It was last year.
  13. Bills bring in another difference maker! Yet, OBJ and Dhop are signed elsewhere. Beane knows more then us. Guess we have to trust the process.
  14. Any interest on both sides of him becoming a Bills coach? I wouldn't hate that.
  15. I'm not sure how relevant the last ten games vs Miami are. I think it's much more accurate to look at last year in a vacuum sort of speak. Why? Tua basically was in play only last year. With him they are clearly a different team and much more difficult to beat. It appears his teammates play hard for him and believe in him. If Tua is healthy (granted a big if) they will likely be a tough out. Also, you have to consider the Miami coach as well. First year coach who looked to be more than capable of leading his team to many wins. Lastly, you have to really examine the Bills three games vs Miami last year. It's pretty disingenuous to say the Bills should have won all three games. Everyone of those games were down to the wire. They truly could have gone either way. If memory serves me right, the Bills won one of those games on a controversial 4th call by coach McDaniels. Many thought that call blew the game for Miami. Additionally, the Bills playoff win was another great battle. Right down to the final play. In short, the Dolphins are more than capable of beating the Bills. Last year pretty much sums that up. I can totally see a split of 1 to 1.
  16. Agree on the flier comment. We've seen a lot of them in recent years. From a washed up Smoke and Beasley to always injuried Crowder to a Tavon Austin. Now it's Isabella and NKeal Harry. Yet, they let Hodgins get away. How good would he look in a Bills uniform now. Gabe is by far better than any of the above. You are 100% correct. I'm foolish but not that foolish to disagree here. Is Gabe good enough as a WR2? I suspect many think he is. That's where I disagree. Last year, wasn't a glowing example. Of course, we will see what develops this year. Obviously, Gabe is slotted as the WR2. As for me, that doesn't sit well. Feel free to disagree. I wanted an upgrade. Beane had to make several hard decisions and prioritize team needs with team cap issues. Getting Gabe on the cheap this year certainly helps. Next year is a whole different animal. Perhaps a more healthy Davis in a contract year might elevate his game to another level. In the meantime, let us Bills fans have our fantasies about a 1% WR hitting it big in a Bills uniform. After all, don't we all wish for hitting the lottery... I'm excited to see what Shakir's role will be on the team. He certainly didn't get much playing time. He did look to be solid when he got his limited opportunities. I'm way more excited about his than Gabe. I hope he gets the chance to be the WR2. Davis would be much better as a WR3.
  17. Nice breakdown Gunner. I think your assessment is accurate. Gabe is going to get paid. The WR market is extremely costly for teams. I believe a team will over pay for him. Will it be the Bills? As for me, I believe Gabe is replaceable. I don't see him as a difference maker. He's a nice WR 3/4. It doesn't hurt that he's likeable and by all accounts a hard worker. I believe Allen absolutely makes him better. Of course a lot will depend on how Davis plays this year. BB certainly seems to be infatuated with him. Money will again be tight. At this point, I'm not convinced Gabe is worth that type of salary. Bills fans certainly seem to gravitate towards Gabe.
  18. I disagree here with regards to Davis. Firstly, he was injuried throughout the early to middle part of the season. All indications were he was relatively healthy for a large part of the season; especially the latter half and playoffs. Frankly, during this time he was nothing special and average at best. Secondly, Davis has limited upside due to his weaknesses. Not quick off the line of scrimmage and stiffer hips. That's exactly why he was a low draft selection. That's why he will likely never be more than an average WR2. In short, his upside is limited. Lastly, I don't believe Davis is worth a big contract in the neighborhood of 15 mil.
  19. Big drop off at the WR position after Diggs. Everyone of those guys are replaceable and interchangeable. Just shows you how good Allen is with a mediocre WR core.
  20. Another great addition to the Bills WR core. Not sure who is going to be odd man out.
  21. One word. ALLEN. He is that good. John, I think you could be the coach and have similar results.
  22. WR2 position is open too. After Diggs there's a huge drop off. The Bills WR core isn't anything scary. Dhop or OBJ would have put a little fear in opposing g defenses. Instead BB decided to allocate his money elsewhere.
  23. You don't think the Bills great coaching staff with Allen can't elevate his game? You can't teach speed. I can see him being a TD maker. Something like 40 catches 500 yards and 7 TDs. Maybe not a game changer but I quality WR.
  24. Bills, Lions, and Cowboys all miss the playoffs.
