  1. Not only did you not read your own article, you didn’t even read the full headline. They weren’t disappointed in his play. They were disappointed that he turned down the 6 year, $139 million contract offer. Then they franchise tagged him. 8 months later, he made another Pro Bowl and won a Super Bowl.
  2. WTF are you talking about? The tackles taken 31 or later were Teven Jenkins (bust), Liam Eichenberg (bust at T and moved to G), Walker Little (bust), Jackson Carmen (bust), Dillon Radunz (bust), and Spencer Brown (LOL). I don't think Reid and Veach are kicking themselves right now over missing out on those slapdicks.
  3. One of us is rationalizing, I'll give you that. I've taken my kids to two Superbowl parades in the last 3 years, so I suppose we can agree to disagree on which one of us it is. And sure, the Chiefs could've taken Bolton or Creed or Trey at 31, and they'd all look like good picks in hindsight. Instead, they got all those players PLUS the LT who sucked to bad that the Chiefs hung 552 yards and 42 points on the Bills in the playoffs his first season (I guess Groot and Boogie didn't get the memo that Brown sucks) and 38 on the Eagles in the Superbowl his second year. Maybe the Bills will have more success against the Bengals offensive line next year with Brown than they did this year against a bunch of backups.
  4. He's on the juice again.
  5. You're right. It was a sixth round pick that went back to Kansas City. The Chiefs turned picks 31, 94, 136 and a 2022 fifth round pick into Orlando Brown, Nick Bolton, and Trey Smith. If that's getting fleeced, then sign me up. It was the draft value equivalent of the 45th overall pick in the draft in exchange for two years of a pro bowl LT who won a Superbowl.
  6. At this point, do they really? The team has pushed basically all of their chips into the pot the last two seasons. A rebuild is coming soon that will involve just about everyone other than Josh. So far, there's nothing to show for having been a top 5 team for three straight seasons. 2023 is the last shot this version of the team has to win it all. Guys like Miller, Poyer, Hyde, Oliver, and possibly even Diggs will likely be either moved or relegated to backups due to age by 2024. If Hopkins is the final piece to win a championship, he's worth it at any price. If they don't win, Beane is likely gone by 2024 or 2025 either way. If someone like Kansas City outbids Buffalo for Hopkins and wins a Superbowl, Beane will be a pariah. Nobody is going to care that he saved a draft pick.
  7. I didn’t forget anything. You, however, seem to have forgotten that the 5th round pick went from Baltimore to KC, not the other way around. The full compensation package netted out to the draft value equivalent of a mid second round pick.
  8. Arizona is trying to shed salary and gain draft picks. They would never give up Hopkins just to take on those contracts and give up picks to do it.
  9. He’s an average to good LT. KC traded the 31st pick and got back a second rounder used to draft Nick Bolton. That’s the draft value of a mid second round pick that was given up for two years of a cost controlled LT who won a ring. Both teams benefited from the trade.
  10. Bills possessions: Punt (3 and out) Punt (3 and out) TD Punt FG Punt Turnover on Downs Interception 3 playoff teams won when their defense gave up 27+ points. None won when their offense scored 10 or fewer.
  11. How was it a defensive failure when the offense scored 10 points? Before the game, if someone said that the Bengals would score 27 points, you might not have been excited about it, but you still would have felt like you had a reasonable shot at winning. If you were told only that the Bills would score 10 points, you’d have known the game was a lost cause.
  12. WTF are you talking about? Kansas City metro has 2.5 million people.
  13. So Laremy Tunsil and Roquan Smith are fools?
  14. Then he's a moron.
  15. One can argue whatever one wants to argue. It doesn't change the fact that the 49ers have been more successful over the short term, the medium term, and the long term, though. They're an elite organization.
  16. SF has played in 3 conference championship games and a Superbowl in the last 4 seasons. I think you're selling them short by saying that the Bills have been more successful than they have.
  17. How about a 7th round pick for Carolina’s first round pick?
  18. Yeah, he only took them to 5 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl in 14 seasons.
  19. So you don’t think there’s a correlation between age and injuries or injury history and injuries? I didn’t think I was exactly going out on a limb by suggesting it. More than ever, the NFL is a young man’s game. Between the addition of a 17th regular season game and the removal of a bye in the postseason, you pretty much have to expect to play 21 games to win a championship compared to 19 in the past. That puts a lot of strain on older players. It’s a risk/reward proposition. Beane has chosen to take his chances on some older players and/or those with injury histories. If they stay healthy, the Bills are championship contenders and he looks like a genius.
  20. Injuries aren’t random, though. Older players are more likely to get injured than younger players. Players who have had major injury issues in the past are more likely to get injured than players who haven’t. Beane signed Von Miller last year. He was 33 years old and had experienced 2 major injuries in the past. He got injured again. Now Beane has let a 25 year old LB with no major injury history walk while signing an injury prone WR and re-signing a 32 year old Safety to play alongside a 33 year old Safety. The Bills were the 8th oldest team last season, and they’ve gotten older in FA. They had the best roster last year when fully healthy, but that didn’t last. It’s a calculated risk that didn’t pay off last year. We’ll see if it does in 2023.
  21. All. In.
  22. Nobody’s dragged Lamar for not playing last year? Are you serious?
  23. So $133m guaranteed won’t cripple a franchise, but $180m will?
  24. Lamar, we don’t want to pay you if you get hurt trying to win games for us. Also, you’re a bum if you don’t risk your career by playing injured.
  25. GMs should be more than happy to guarantee a contract to their franchise QB. Whatever GM signs a QB to a massive contract is getting fired if he sucks irrespective of how much of the money was guaranteed. It’s not like pissing away $130 million is fine but $180 million is grounds for termination. If you pick the right guy, he’s worth whatever the contract is.
