  1. Mack had 34 catches, didn’t exactly leave the earth. It wasn’t even close to his best year in the league, I think it’s fair to expect pretty similar from him.
  2. Beane keeps looking for the guys other teams “missed”. BTJ was the guy who slid and crushed it this year and my personal target the whole time, I don’t get it either. I was more optimistic about Samuel, that was a flop. Unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to see there hasn’t been enough WR talent going into the last 3 seasons and they keep going in hope as a strategy. Allen covers a lot, but he can’t make up for everything. The biggest hope for the coming year is Kincaid is healthy and ready to go and Brady remembers he has TEs with hands. The lack of creativity on O this year was pathetic as was the use of Cooper who is/was a proven weapon, he couldn’t integrate. How long do we excuse the Brady excuse, it “wasn’t his O” after taking over mid year, this year he couldn’t get a WR schemed open to save his life even after adding Coop. He’s kind of treading on Greg Roman territory to me. Personally, I think the whole regime is a product of Allen carrying their sorry asses.
  3. It’s been about entertainment, but the official designation as an entertainment league vs a football league came with gambling so they couldn’t be destroyed when it’s let out that they are steering the games.
  4. Yeah, the more it goes in, the easier it’s becoming to detach from the NFE(attainment)L, this ***** is turning into the WWE before our eyes and people are cool with it. I’m losing more interest each passing season.
  5. I think this is just people being pissed that these “dynasty” teams seem to all get games handed to them. It’s super annoying and having watched it happen with the Pats and Brady, now with the Chiefs it’s hitting a boiling point.
  6. This. I hate both teams. I’m not watching, not interested, don’t want the NFl to get the ratings.
  7. My house is in.. I’m not watching this year.
  8. I think it’s pretty obvious it’s both not enough talent and not quite good enough coaching. McD has clearly blown a few games in the playoffs all on his own, 13 seconds for example. That said, this roster wasn’t as talented as that team and he got more out of it. The single biggest problem this team has is continued poor drafting in the early rounds. Non-difference makers to flat out busts all over the first 3 rounds. It just doesn’t work. That poor drafting leads to hole filling in FA and looking for difference makers, which cost big money and bring big risk (Miller). So you are left with little cap space and little talent and now drafting to fill holes, which takes your eyes off the BPA and if ANYONE wants to argue that Beane hasn’t been drafting to fill holes instead of taking BPA, you need to stop and think before you embarrass yourself arguing otherwise. So to the OPs question, yeah I think McD is covering for Beane on D and Allen is covering them both by dragging the team to wins.
  9. They just got rid of Carr, why bring in a worse version of the same guy for more money? If there is one thing Brady ought to bring, it’s QB evaluation. I see no way they swing for Darnold.
  10. Bernard should not have made it, 3/4 of a year wonder and that was really only in the eyes of Bills fans. Spencer Brown, that one is definitely arguable.
  11. Allen could get lower and push, he went high and had nobody pushing him this time, I’m curious why the tush push suddenly became a standard sneak, it was a hell of a time to change the biggest reason it had worked all year. You really think Josh doesn’t work out? You have got to be kidding. What a short or selective memory you have, there have been many published stories about Josh working in the offseason w the guys.
  12. You post says it all, you have one “good” player. Then Singletary wasn’t worth paying 2.5M for, so clearly wasn’t very good, the guy who was supposed to take his place also walk and both were paid less than the 3rd RB Beane brought in as a return specialist. Knox is over paid. Gabe Davis … meh not a bad 4th round pick if we are all being real honest, good #3/4 WR, just not the #1/2 they tried to make him. Doyle can’t get on the field Bernard is ok. So there’s the issue, a bunch of over paid and over drafted for the production you get. If Oliver was a 3rd round pick, that would be pretty good, a solid starter that makes a handful of flash plays a year. Unfortunately, he’s a top 10 pick on a rather rich contract. The RBs represent 4 day 2 picks to get one guy who’s better than replacement level. Knox is overpaid in your own words, Davis isn’t here, Doyle is a nobody and Bernard is “better than we had”, when the last guy got cut mid season by the Seahawks, that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement. Where are the guys that are actually difference makers? They don’t really exist outside of Allen and Cook. In the same time frame, KC has rebuilt their team 2x and is about to win 3 SBs in a row, or at very least 2 of the last 3 with a chance to win this one. Philly has also built through the draft and is back to the SB, so the whole “drafting too late in the draft” excuse just doesn’t work.
  13. That argument works when guys that clearly don’t deserve it are making it, but being that it’s a joke of a system and basically anyone with a heartbeat makes it, it’s pretty telling when not one of your picks has made it.
  14. I think it’s a fair question to ask if it’s worth it or not. My take is the biggest issue is the contract structure so you can fit him AND others in the plan for now and the next 3-4 years. Giving up a shot at a young difference maker with the 1st round pick it hard, BUT if we are honest, outside of JA, the only impact player Beane has managed out of a 1st round pick was Diggs. Those picks were all better than this year so it’s certainly no guarantee he will make anything of that pick. At least Crosby is a known commodity.
  15. I want him, but if you think he’s going to be had for a 1st and 4th you are dreaming. 1st, 2nd and 5th this year and a conditional 2nd next year will get you to the table.
  16. Oh I forgot we evaluate on race these days. That’s got to be the lamest excuse I’ve heard. I suppose to counter, a white safety was better. 🙄
  17. I’m so sick of this excuse, the Chiefs draft after everyone every year and have built one of the better D’s in the league. It’s not where you draft, it’s drafting the right guys when you make the pick. For example, I wanted Dejean this year, the Eagles got a top flight corner and we got two guys that struggled to get on the field in the first 2 picks.
  18. Bernard, Williams, Milano (giving a pass for injury), Miller and quite honestly, the entire line… and ya know, let’s just do this, Benford and Rapp played well. Hamlin played to his ability and YET they ran him out there as a starter, that’s nonsense.
  19. In fairness, when virtually EVERYONE under performs, there is reason to question the coaching.
  20. Availability is more important than ability with Higgins, regardless of cap space, he should be a hard pass.
  21. Beasley, Diggs and Knox is really enough to win with. You had 3 guys who, when featured, could be 1000 yard guys. Most teams don’t have any more than that. As of right now, there’s not enough talent or at least not enough talent being used. Kincaid, Coleman and Samuel all need to step up big time. I think Brady is a major problem in that, but I guess we will see how things play out.
  22. Let’s be fair, it’s only every time.
  23. Oh we should all fear the Josh Allen picks, Kincaid was straight dominant too. Maybe the GM should do his own damn job and draft the best talent, not appease the QB. This is how you end up in the mess the Packers/Jets did.
  24. Beane did it because Josh Allen carried his sorry ass. Check the top 100 players list, all pro voting, etc. The Bills have a joke roster in respect to impact players. They have a collection of decent to good players, most getting over paid for their production level, and a QB that literally drags them to wins. On the 5th year option, the number is closer to 50% and still the majority of those are done to guys they intend on extending and need leverage on, as in a Jamar Chase, or it’s just stupid. If you let a guy play on the 5th year option, you don’t know wtf you are doing as a team. That’s an indication the guy wasn’t worth extending, so you essentially took the bait. Now you have a player that is either 1) not worth what you are paying or 2) Is going to price themselves WAY higher for the extension you should have signed them to earlier if the have a big year. It’s pure fools gold.
  25. Well said. There’s a huge lack of difference makers and that’s what you are supposed to come up with in the 1st round.
