Bills are 8-2 for the first time in over 30 years
Mikie2times replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They play a lot of man and Allen does better vs man. Look at the Jaguars game, they play man at nearly the highest clip in the league and he was nearly perfect. They will also play a ton of two high looks as they did last year. Brady has done well calling short drive extending game plans and sticking to the run vs teams that defend us this way. KC does have a revitalized run game. 5th in EPA rush, but it's not a power run game. They're more like us (EPA 3rd in rush). More of finesse team that has evolved into having a high healthy dose of the run game as a result how how teams defend. Those are not the type of teams we really struggle with. If you look at the Titans with Henry, Bengals, and those Colts teams years ago it was a power run game with some ability to compliment in the air. Specifically, Baltimore and Detroit this season. Those two scare me much more than KC, certainly in the regular season. -

Baltimore could have dropped 40 pretty easily in that game and we beat a similar bad looking KC team last year only to watch them win a Super Bowl. -

Yup, we should walk right into the Super Bowl. Not like Henry has ever been an issue for us or Mahomes in the playoffs. -
Seems to have turned the corner. Let’s hope so

Bills fans will fill the new stadium regardless. You’re talking as if Bills fans won’t show up to watch a Josh Allen led playoff team. Terry isn’t even thinking about McD. The job is his regardless of playoff performance. I really wish that wasn’t the case but it is. And like Gunner, I just don’t see this team going very far. You need 3 wins in a row against the caliber of KC - Baltimore - Detroit. Hell, does anybody even want to see a team like Pittsburgh right now? -

It’s a good win, but what is with the sarcastic “fire McDermott” posts all the time. Nobody ever disputed he was one of the best in the NFL at making a sub .500 team look bad. Any concerns about him were never going to be addressed in the regular season. -

Wait until the divisional round -
Not to ruin your assault on not knowing what you’re taking about, but three of those guys played 15 years, and Josh will surpass them in rush attempts this season. The fact that you brought up Doug Flutie is a double down on talking about things your clearly don’t know.

Yes, if he would survive. You think Allen would have been able to run as he has in the early 90's?
-
Such a different era, clearly Josh has more talent, but the training, nutrition and everything else is so much better. Just the fact that you had the ability to kill the QB and not having illegal contact. It totally changes the game. I don't know how much better Josh would do in that era. If he would even survive. I know that people who just assume that's an easy question to answer are not correct. I can get on board with that

NFL officiating is broken. How do we fix it?
Mikie2times replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
1. Full time refs 2. Reduction of total fouls (nobody cares if penalties aren't called both ways) 3. Super Challenge like the XFL has If they did those three things it would make a huge improvement. But I'm not really sure they want a huge improvement. Bad calls lead to publicity and any publicity is generally good. I don't know of anybody who truly dropped the product over this topic. -
If Geno doesn't trip himself (again turnover on downs) much closer game, certainly at the start. Tennessee is just awful yet they led at halftime and it was 17-10 after 3 quarters (which could have easily been the same score as the Seattle game). This isn't the 2021 Bills, we play with our food, we haven't come in and overwhelmed anybody. The Miami away game was about as close as we have seen in that spot and it was turnover city and a few big plays from Josh. Which if that occurs, sure, we can force some turnovers.

I don't think we are the type of team that can say we will blow anybody out at this point. We are the type of team that has a much better QB and if the run game is good, we will win most the time. If the run game isn't good our offense can become very inconsistent. Then if we face a team that employs a game plan like the Cardinals and Titans did the first half, or Miami did all game, we can find ourselves in a dogfight. These teams stuck to the run and the short passing game. They possessed the ball and controlled the game until we adjusted. But lets also not forget in all 3 games we generated a massive turnover on downs early in the 2nd half. Two turnovers and a 4th down stop and these games really turned after that occurred. I can't assume we will be able to do that all the time. This specific match up? Colts rank 5th in run defense EPA. So they should be able to slow our run game down. It's a game Josh will need to win with his arm, they rank 24th in pass defense EPA. That can be concerning because Brady still seems to stick to the run to his detriment in these situations. The Colts run 12 personnel at the 6th highest rate in the NFL (1st and 2nd are the 49ers and Lions). Looking at rushing stats is pretty useless as Richardson made up so much of that but Taylor averages 4.8 per carry. Hopefully the injury to Ryan Kelly slows down the run game a bit because they will attempt to control the game as most of our opponents have. While Flacco looked like a total turd last week, he's still more than capable of executing a dink and dunk offense. Will he do it? He has that Allen quality to him and often wants to push the ball downfield. That would be a huge mistake this week. He is one of the worst in the NFL this year vs the Blitz. Will we dial it up? If we do, will it get home? This will either be a very close game or we pull away in the 2nd half. No cakewalks for us until we show a lot more. I'm from just outside Detroit and consider Lions fans to be pretty relaxed as far as aggression toward opposing fans. I've been a bit of a dumb ass a few times and they let me get away with it. They didn't have fans that would show themselves until a few years ago. Loyal base but not as proud in the loyalty as Bills fans. Great atmosphere. They can get really loud nowadays. I often joke with my friends about how many are now die hard Lions fans. Haven't heard a peep about them in 20+ years. Now everybody is on the wagon.

Veteran QB who will check it down with a solid run game and decent defense. Will be another close game.

How many wives of Maga husbands will vote for Harris? How many wives of liberal husbands will vote for Trump? I don’t think this is a very difficult question to answer and it will decide the election.

It's ok to say his name. I know it sounds worse than 4 time MVP. The guys you mention won the pre Super Bowl version of the Super Bowl. What am I supposed to do, condemn Blanton Collier for only coaching a couple years into the Super Bowl era? Halas and Paul Brown have 13 combined NFL championships. They didn't spend most or even the better part the careers they had in the era I'm talking about. The three I mentioned are all that exist and last time I checked Allen is about 20 times better than anything Marty had. If you think McD is what is standing in the way of a perennial bottom feeder I don't know what to say. I would rather not live in a bubble knowing a 65+ rating at QB has equaled a 73% win rate since 2020. Josh has hit that number every year. -

I'm not sure, I don't see it as the same situation. LaFleur is an offensive coach, which is far more valuable in todays NFL. He is likely a large reason why Love is even a middle upper. Love isn't carrying the franchise like Josh is either. So parting ways with LaFleur will certainly be a rebuild in a bigger way than McD would (outside of his cooker cutter defensive players). Then Love, it's his second year with him. How much of those playoff failures fall on Rodgers? Not sure on this. But what I do know is his own unit actually performs fairly well in the late playoffs. Around the same level Buffalo's has. It's not the 2nd worse performing unit out of any team since 2020 like the Bills defense is. Further, if you watched the 49ers game last year, yes, LaFleur really cost them in that game. It was a game they should have won. So I would say he is on a warm seat, but not as warm as McMarty. -

Super Bowl era coaches .600 or better in the regular season and never been to a Super Bowl. Marty, Sean, LeFleur That is the entire list in almost 60 years of Super Bowl era football. -

Oh geez. If it wasn't for Andy Dalton you would be remembering Rex Ryan the year prior with a better point differential. We lucked into breaking the drought with a -57 point differential and then coughed up a win in Houston the next year getting outscored 19-6 in the second half. If you want to make an argument for McD being a program starter that's fine. The argument at this point is if he is a program finisher. Which he has proved to be about as far from as any coach since Marty Schottenheimer. If that's your take, who is responsible for the Bills talent? -
Is this the best team in the Allen era?
Mikie2times replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it’s the worst team in the Allen playoff era. We haven’t beat anybody who is an actual threat and we have looked sloppy in a large % of games vs bottom dwellers. Things can change, but that’s how I see it so far.
