  1. I will defer to your familiarity but what I see (as someone who only sees him a couple of times a year) is a guy who led his team to the playoffs, who completed nearly 60% of his passes and had a 2 to 1 TD to INT ratio, improving significantly over his rookie year. Based on that, I'm inclined to think the coaching staff did a pretty good job with him. But you guys see him every week so I will shut my trap.
  2. I like to think the Jets are ascending with a new GM, a strong young core on the D line and a QB who has flashed. A new OL would do them wonders. But hard to have confidence in Gase.
  3. I thought he made a lot of progress this year. As a Jets fan, I think the Bills have top-notch coaching. He is who he is. You are going to have to live with his weaknesses, along with his strengths.
  4. I never thought I would say this but I'm sorta hoping Brady sticks around with the Pats. I believe that he will decline even further next year and the more time they invest in him the better.
  5. I think this may work out like the end for Peyton. He was still pretty good until he fell off a cliff. Brady wasn't that bad but there simply is no precedent for a guy continuing to play at the highest level at 43, which is how old he will be when the season starts. If I were the Chargers I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.
  6. I think he's misplayed his hand. This isn't five years ago. He is on the way down. He was mediocre with the Pats this year and he likely will be worse adjusting to a new system. I think he either will retire or will take what the Patriots offer him. Who else would sign him for what he's looking for? They're certainly not going to pay him 30 mil a year. Anyone else remember Namath playing for the Rams at the end? Would set your franchise back a year or two.
  7. In his defense, Belicheat is kryptonite to young QBs. I expect to see better soon.
  8. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end. Remember how Peyton had a ridiculously great season for Denver and then just fell off a cliff? I'm hoping that is beginning to happen here (the cliff part).
  9. Full disclosure: I'm a Jets fan (although I live in New England). I'm just not sure you can really outgrow the combination of inaccuracy and poor decision making. Yes, he is spectacular in spurts but his performance has been fairly consistent in HS, JC, College and his rookie year. He completes barely more than half of his passes and turns the ball over a lot. But then he will impress the hell out of you with a sixty yard bomb or fifty yard scramble. But I'm not sure he's going to get a whole lot more consistent. I was listening to part of the game on the radio yesterday and Patriots homer color guy Scott Zolak (who is a total D-bag) was absolutely merciless, laughing over the play by play guy at Allen's poor decisions, saying he doesn't know how to check down, "this guy doesn't have it," and saying the Bills should draft their next QB "right now." Not saying I agree with him but he was ruthless. (His guy wasn't much better yesterday, FWIW.) I'd like to see Allen succeed (although not too much against the Jets) because he seems like a good kid and it could make for a fun AFC east rivalry over the next ten years but I'm not betting on it. His poor traits might not be fixable. But the Bills have an awesome defense and I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs with him this year.
  10. Allen did not look good at all yesterday. I don't think you can count on him turning it on against a very good D, although he would have been better than Barkley.
  11. They will say something like we are going to let the justice system play out and let him settle the case. Then act like that proves something. But they are pissed off on the timing as it makes them look bad. Again.
  12. And the Jets added a solid slot-guy, two ex-pro-bowlers to their offensive line and one of the most productive running backs in the history of the game. No guarantee that they are going to be any good but it's not a crazy position to take.
  13. It doesn't really work that way but I like this analysis nonetheless.
  14. The cornerback position is extremely weak for the Jets. Johnson is not the only weak spot.
  15. I'm a Jets fan. He just made a lot of mistakes. I think he threw 4 INTs to no touchdowns in the preseason games and a similar ratio in practice. Maybe he can get it together but couldn't do it for the Jets. Agree that it's probably an Intel signing.
  16. Don't want to burst anybody's bubble but he has looked awful this preseason.
  17. Not sure how improving themselves at a major position of need constitutes disfunction. PFF had him 17th in the league last year at his position. Harrison at 31. His experience should be very helpful to the young QB. Jets are under new management. May be time to retire the disfunction narrative. Long was horrible last year. But yes, I’m sure the finger had something to do with it.
  18. He's going to be very good, if not great. I would be shocked if he is not. And while he probably didn't have the highest score on the wonderlic of this year's class, he is consistently praised for his football IQ and is extremely passionate about the game, which is much more imprtant for a DT than a high IQ. (By the way, I think "literal" doesn't mean what you think it means.) And then your alarm clock will go off. They are both going to be very good players.
  19. I wouldn't hold your breath about an improved completion percentage. I think the guy has a lot to offer but he is probably about a 55% guy. Guys who have been in this range over a number of years don't generally go up that much.
  20. He traded for Osemele and that's all. And that's why Mac got fired. Which he richly deserved.
