Patrick Mahomes Sr. tweet, explained: Chiefs QB's father claims he was hacked after slamming Bills fans
-
Washington, having just had the 2nd pick in the draft with a new HC, have just won 2 road games and are picking 1 spot ahead of us this year. They got to the same position as us in year 1! KC wins the Super Bowl in their rebuilding year, extra salt in the wound for many. We have 0 road playoff wins under McDermott as is widely known. It feels like nothing will change this offseason in terms of scheme or coaching.

Is Cooper Kupp actually available and can we afford and want him? Next year the receivers are returning healthy for Baltimore and KC, Flowers and Rice, they will be postseason difference makers. We got to hit at least two 15-30 yard passes per drive in the playoffs next year when it is needed. You feel that Allen trusts Shakir and Hollins and should he be back next year, Cooper. The front office has to give Coleman the guidance to improve this offseason.

Lost in the sauce: Outstanding Performances vs KC

Jordan Phillips saved a touchdown with his sack, Kelce was wide open in the end zone one second later, Hamlin couldn't cover his route. -
good comments from Bills players in this new Athletic piece

I can now believe this and the Eagles will be expecting this as well, you'd hope any team team that makes the Super Bowl would do the same. Philly needs to find a librian with play design aspirations for their wrinkle. Chiefs' Andy Reid shares wild story about how a janitor once designed touchdown play for Packers -
I don't think so, especially if this outcome can benefit Buffalo in the future. Honestly we have to significantly overachieve to defeat KC and we are up until now coming short by fractions plus when we did get the inches we required we got hosed by those mysterious external forces. I have said elsewhere, as 100% HOF guys, we have Josh and 50% Von versus Reid, Spagnuolo, Kelce, Jones and Mahomes - 1.5 vs 5! The Houston playoff loss might have been our Sliding Doors moment, winning that game may have changed a lot, we shall never truly know but that is just my opinion.

In the short term, I will watch the Super Bowl this year, last year I didn't, it will be so interesting where a much better Philly defence matches up against KC. Their DL should get pressure for sure, the Chiefs will hold, the flags will come but who will get the penalty? The opposing matchup is also true with the Chiefs DL versus Eagles OL. I am interested in the trench warfare more than anything else. I am sure in time the doom and gloom will lift and daring to dream resurface, that is human nature I suppose but at this point it isn't rational thinking but blind faith.

Will Kincaid ever recover from this drop and become an above average player for Buffalo? Greg and O'Cyrus have had decent years, Kincaid hasn't and yet if we had won would an injury be stated/revealed? There were plays made by Bills on Sunday that don't normally happen, the TD by Hollins, the ultra clutch 4th down TD by Cook, the toe tap TD by Samuel, the out of the blue sack by Phillips. Cook had a very good game on the ground with limited opportunities. It still wasn't enough unfortunately. The coaching gap is so wide. -
I trust Solomon will get more opportunities next year, can he be an impact player when called upon? Without improvement to the DL as a whole next year we will be stuck in the same cycle, treading water.

30 teams are in reset mode now. Year on year it seems that the rookie class has a very limited impact, in year one at least, in comparison to other teams. It could be argued that we are most excited by our 6th round pick this year, Grable, going forward with Davis having had the best year of all our rookies. We really need Coleman, Bishop, Carter and Solomon to improve and flash next year and be coached up and developed to excel in the postseason like Worthy and DeJean are currently doing.

Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season

Semi tongue-in-cheek, what is the desired long-term outcome? Mahomes and Reid to reach and win 8 Super Bowls?! -

It will be interesting to see how the Texans are treated next year then, given they did explicitly call out the referees in the postseason last week. I didn't have access to the CBS commentary in Germany but I couldn't believe that catch was given to Worthy - and the delay of game near the two minute warning wasn't "noticed". -
I agree with the opening statement, my observation would be that the consensus around here is that Allen is elevating McDermott. Reid is fortunate enough to be elevated by both Mahomes and Spagnuolo, having Jones and Kelce doesn't hurt either! Plus GM Veach.

Apparently KC can beat opponents in third gear during the regular season, including special teams bailing them out when needed in the clutch. We did stop their undeafeated season but not their march to the Super Bowl. We need to beat Andy Reid, Steve Spagnuolo, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes! Five first ballot hall of fame guys unfortunately, plus the Referees and Taylor Swift and yet we came within 3 points of forcing overtime. They are the better organization recently and we are still so close to them, we are still clutching at straws as to how to defeat them. For me, still the best performance against them was by Vita Vea in Super Bowl LV, the unsung hero of that game.

Just some thoughts before I log off for a while...
quincy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
The problem in my eyes is that everyone has the opportunity to rebuild too. Everyone wants to get better, Dan Quinn is at the same position right here right now as Sean McDermott after one year compared to eight years. Sure they could be a flash in the pan and we've been consistent but they are picking one sport ahead of us next year. It seems like the five most critical people to our success actually don't play for Buffalo. Andy Reid, Steve Spagnuolo, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes! Five first ballot hall of fame guys unfortunately, plus the Referees and Taylor Swift and yes we are potentially one catch away from winning or at least levelling the scores in the 4th quarter of the AFC championship game. Keeping the faith is difficult. -

There are so many layers to break down but given it is 6am in my timezone, all I can say is that the scars that KC inflicts in January somehow need to be cured and healed and there must be the required medicine on hand should we meet next January. This is where coaching comes into it, stick or twist? Harbaugh and Tomlin at least have got to and won the big game, not recently though. It is reminding me of the time where the players in Seattle tuned out of Pete Carroll giving the same message year on year. Stability in the regular season versus never making the Super Bowl this millenium. We are truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Today we had some actual exceptionally clutch plays yet it still wasn't enough because KC can match and exceed it. -
Somewhere in the draft can we identify a 6 foot 7, 315lb blocking TE and assign him a number in the 80's and make him TE #3, otherwise simply convert Anderson to TE and change his number. Unless this reporting eligible rule somehow changes it will continue to be a problem like Anderson found out tonight and then that Detroit game previously with Skipper. Just a random thought.

4.57am here as I begin to type this. I am bitter for now yet optimistic for next year, maybe foolishly but hey I can't quit on this team . I didn't have the benefit of the English commentary but Bjorn Werner on German TV was just astounded by the constant tush pushing failures saying Philly can run it and Buffalo can't. We scored touchdowns with two superhero touchdowns, Bass made a 53 yarder and Phillips had the huge sack but the final needed miracle never came. We are still the best fanbase in the NFL, wishing that Philly can stop KC in New Orleans.

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs

Mentally the team is ready! It is time for greatness. -
How aggressive do you want McDermott to be on Sunday?
quincy replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
My fear in the scenario posted would be that KC would just hold every Bills player literally on the two point attempt, then as usual the penalty called would be "holding offence number XX", that penalty is declined, that is the end of the game". I voted to kick the extra point. -
AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs

I'd like to see Zach Davidson elevated and play this Sunday, him plus Keon and Hollins would make an interesting red zone trio I think, they'd have a height advantage plus physicality if the flags are swallowed. KJ Hamler could also be a decoy/deep threat. I would elevate two offensive skill players this week even if they are inactive on gameday. Special Teams will be really crucial too, Houston really messed up last week and KC seems to constantly excel in this area. Have Codrington back for some punts and Shakir for others. Alternate Codrington, Davis and Ty for the kickoff returns. Try to keep KC on their toes and be ready for the fake kicks, onsides and Hail Marys and have also have some emergency tricks up our sleeves as well. When we see evenly matched teams on O and D, the difference can be found in ST. -
I’m very happy with how far we made it.
quincy replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
For me, getting to the AFC Championship game was the minimum acceptable target, in my own mind, now that we have made this far, it is time to win on Sunday at Arrowhead and in February in New Orleans. I just wanted this coaching staff to make it past the Divisional round this year and I am thankful that this has been achieved. Many fans have had a MUCH longer period of Buffalo “heartbreak” than me. I only became a true hardcore Buffalo fan in 2015 and then I was immediately horrified when the news broke that Rex was appointed as the HC! I guess I am a weird fan as the postseason loss to Houston stung me far more than the 13 seconds game. Sunday can be the happiest day of my Buffalo fandom. Begrudgingly, respect to Kansas City, they have had remarkable and dominant success and they are always linked to us be it via coaching trees, trades or memorable games, the general narrative appears to be one-sided simply because we haven’t defeated them in the post season and that can be changed on Sunday. I am daring to dream, should it not be this year then we will have another go next year like all the remaining 31 teams who didn’t lift the Lombardi. I would also opine that Sean did actually give a straight reply in relation to that Baltimore journalist who had the “city of losers” comment and his disagreement with that – that was bigger than the Bills, affecting the whole city and area (in my opinion), regarding fans and locker room impact. I am unsure if this will embed or not, I happened to see this on YouTube, being from Europe I’d actually want to visit this restaurant and meet native Bills fans when I am wealthier lol. Buffalo Bills fans react to 'city of losers' comment from Baltimore radio host -
Four more wins this January and February please! Next year can be the year of "worrying" or "being concerned about" 1st Team All-Pro or MVP when the Super Bowl LIX trophy is safely in Buffalo. Win the Lombardi this year and players like Brown, Groot and Cook will be actually receiving votes next year.
