Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)
whorlnut replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
They’ve already destroyed any trade value he might have had before the season. Bad move imo. This might be one of the biggest myths on the board and with the entire fanbase. Do y put really think the coaches are going to make a first rounder inactive week after week if he played so well? Come on… -
I disagree. Rookie WRs are acclimating to the league MUCH faster these days. Give me someone on a rookie deal all day long. For example…people said this was a bad year for WRs, but Addison, flowers, JSN, Jayden Reed, and a few others have made major contributions so far. This isn’t the old nfl. Young receivers can come in and make an instant impact and be had on the cheap for at least 4 years. It comes down to trusting your scouting department.

I think it’s already well past that point. -
9/24/23 Week 3 GAMEDAY Bills vs Commanders Pregame Thread

Who cares at this point? -
Heaven forbid they actually get a country singer.

How is this thread doing? Hmmmmm. Allen just got his 11th afc offensive player of the week…one more than Kelly. Oh yeah…he also has the most 3 td and 80% completion rate games before a player turned 30. And he’s 27. Go away doubters. This guy is our franchise qb and will be for a long time.

That was my argument for taking another position early on. McD is arguably the best in the league at getting the most out of DBs. -

My guess is it could have been a somewhat high pick considering he’s still 22, has at least three years of control left, and has that “potential” label. However, I’m concerned a lot of that was wasted by hanging onto him and allowing other teams to see him inactive the first two weeks. -

That’s just it…Elam didn’t fit what this team does schematically. It was a head scratcher then and especially now. -

Beane should have cut his losses before the season started. It’s got to be humiliating for Elam as a first rounder. Give his the benefit of the doubt and trade him to a team that can use him in their scheme. Instead, we held on to him and now his value is plummeting each week as he’s inactive. Bad look all around. -
Buffalo will always be the perfect place for Allen and he knows that. Hes not going anywhere. He’s a big boy and can handle some criticism for an obviously horrible game.

I’m not mad about the run itself as much as I am the design. Cook is really good in space…why not a pitch? Instead, we run right into the belly of their strength.

Every single week? This was week one dude.

This is the guy I wanted after we took hall in 1. But so many people blasted me cause we had to take a round one corner. Good stuff. Well that’s why I thought it was best to take care of other positions and wait to take a corner in 3 or 4. Maybe 2. McD is the best at getting good play out of later round DBs. We didn’t need one in the first to get a good one.
-
Hahahahha…seriously. Gotta give Elam credit though…he used that tool to dupe Beane into making him a first round pick.

Disagree completely. He should know it by now. Benford didn’t have any issues picking it up.
-
I see it the other way…I think it’s completely killed his confidence. I honestly feel bad for the kid. I can’t imagine the shame he must feel after being a first round pick. He should have been dealt and given a second chance on a team that fit his strengths.

It’s a huge stain for Beane. He was set on drafting a corner in the first no matter what. This pick proved it.
