Bills 2nd Round Pick for the TBD mock draft (#46 overall)
whorlnut replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My prediction is that we will make two picks tonight. I think we will package 40 with another pick to move up to the bottom of the first for a player that begins to slide. -
Your final prediction: Who will the Bills draft in round 1
whorlnut replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we take Jonah Williams. Beane wants competition and beyond Morse, there isn’t a player on the line that should be considered safe. Seems like a no-brained to me. However...I can’t shake the thought of them being in love with Christian Wilkins... -
OL Jonah Williams takes it to another level.

I would agree, but I don’t see Oliver as a “process guy” at all. In fact, I think he’s kind of the opposite. However, McD recognizes his talent and apparently would like to have him. I would say Risner and Wilkins are more process than Oliver. Bingo. Holy heck I want Hockenson to be a Bill in the worst way. -
Gotta be honest...I don’t want Oliver. Something about him screams that it would be a bad move by the front office. He just doesn’t seem like a Buffalo guy. I see Dareus all over again. Someone that is just playing out his rookie deal before moving on to bigger and better things. Is he talented? Yes. No denying that. I just don’t think it’s a good fit. On on the other hand, a guy like Quinnen Williams (who we have no shot at) or Christian Wilkins would be excellent fits. Williams would have to be obtained in a trade up while Wilkins hopefully could be had in a trade down. I think all all this is moot anyhow as some team in front of us will likely take Oliver.

Can the Bills wait past the 3rd Rd for a RB ?
whorlnut replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Miles Sanders all day long. He has a lot of tread left on his tires and he can catch the ball too. -
I’m convinced Cornette is an older gentleman who is stuck in the 60’s and 70’s. Back in the day when defense was more important than anything else. Well...now you have to have a top offense if you want to keep up with other great teams. We need a top TE. Period. We can find a solid defensive player later on, we could even trade back into the first for Lawrence or Wilkins if he starts to slip. But we aren’t going anywhere if we don’t improve our offense. Is Allen a home run hitter? Yes. But there comes times in every game where you need 7 yards to move the chains. That’s where your TE comes into play. McD himself said that. I think it’s more of a possibility than any of us realize.

Offensive weapons or finish the Defence?

This is my hope as well. With the additions in fA, there aren’t going to be many roster spots available. And 6th and 7th rounders are usually long shots anyways. Package the picks and move up. Draft at 9, move back into the bottom of the first for a player that drops and then try to get two 2nd rounders. -
Sweet Spots for Trade up during Draft
whorlnut replied to BillsFan1988's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love the combo of Hockenson and Wilkins. Hockenson is a complete TE and is a huge position of need. Wilkins seems like a process guy through and through and is highly productive and hungry. To me, this would be a huge haul and would be a win no matter what else happens. And we would still have fourth and fifth round picks to address RB. -
Tony Pauline: 3 Horse Race for #9

I don’t buy this at all. What if Dawkins doesn’t regain his 2017 form? Then we don’t have a viable option. By drafting a tackle you are challenging Dawkins and at worst you have 2 elite linemen. You have to remember that McD is always preaching competition. -

Here is the bottom line that cannot be disputed: McD has done NOTHING this offseason to give Dion Dawkins a glowing endorsement as his left tackle. In fact, he’s left the door open quite a bit to improve at the position. That’s why I think Dillard and Williams are very much in play at 9. Dillard more so since he’s considered the best LT prospect in the draft. However, after hearing that the Bills like Williams as a LT, who really knows? -
Daniel Jeremiah - Jonah Williams is someone to watch

Yeah...Quentin Nelson was a huge reach... -
2 picks in the first seems like a given to me...

This is my thought as well. The Bills are said to have scouted ND games heavily this past year. I would suspect the guy they were looking at the most was Tillery. He has proto size and is very disruptive. I could see the Bills going after him. -
In this scenario, I think the only two players keeping the Bills from trading down are Jawaan Taylor and T.J. Hockenson. The Bills could finish the o-line for years to come with Taylor and give Allen the best protection possible. Hockenson could provide good blocking and pass catching skills as a safety blanket to Allen. Either one would be a huge upgrade and provide us with a potential pro bowler. I think the Bills have their eyes on Jerry Tillery at 40. Apparently, they have been at a lot of ND games this year and I could see Beane being enamored with Tillery’s size. He loves prototypes. All that said, I hope we trade down and pick up a second 2 or 3. This would allow us to get another potential starter and give us ammo to move around the board.

That would be consecutive drafts that we trade up with the Bucs to draft Josh Allen...

ASU WR K’Neal Harry is projected as a 2nd rd prospect.

Well it’s funny you would rather have Metcalf. What is he other than a physical freak? He can’t get out of his breaks and doesn’t run good routes. He’s a straight line speedster and that’s about it. I’d rather go after another position in the first and target a WR in the second or third, because this draft is deep at the position. -

IMO it won’t be Metcalf at all. This draft is deep at the position and there isn’t much drop off from a Metcalf to the next group. In fact, I would argue that other receivers will be better in the league. TE will probably in happen if we trade down. I’d put money on DE or DT. -
It was his reaction to a team rule that is the issue here. He thought he was above the rules. You’re right...clearly not a process guy.
